Meeting(3)

She led the way, her high heels clicking on the marbe as she waked towards her office. Robert followed her. Soon, they reached her office. Robert stepped in first and Lisa came inside and closed the door. As soon as the door closed, Robert turned around and trapped her in his strong muscular arms. He inched closer to Lisa's face until the tip of their noses touched. He rubbed his nose with hers. Their eyes met and glued onto each other. Silence prevailed. Only their breaths and heartbeats could be heard.

Lisa averted her eyes from his handsome face. She, herself, wasn't sure about the range of complicated emotions surging through her. She wanted to kiss him, hug him, tell him how much she missed him. But her ego and pride didn't let her tell him those. She wanted to touch his cheeks to see whether they still feel the same. She noted that he has grown taller and is leaner than before. There are some dark circles beneath his eyes. Her heart ached for him. He has started wearing specs, which added to his charm. She was happy seeing him but sad at the same time.

While Lisa was looking at him, Robert noticed the myriad of emotions clearly visible on her face. He knew about this new company "Scarlett Inc.". It rose to fame in a short period of time. He knew that the President of the company is a woman named Lisa but did not know that Lisa is Sophie. His Soph. How much he wanted to hug her, kiss her, he couldn't express in words. But then again, he was guilty of not keeping his words. How could he explain those unfortunate incidents to her? He could only shake his head. 'But will she forgive me?', Robert thought. As he was going to explain himself, Robert heard her say, "Leave. Leave right now. And don't come in front of me."

"WHAT!!!?????", Robert was dumbfounded at her change in attitude.

"I said leave. Just leave.", saying so she pushed him out of the door and closed it.

Robert stood in a daze outside the door while Lisa sat down on the floor. Her tears, which she was holding until now were cascading like water. She did not want to push Robert away from her like this. But she couldn't bring him into her life now, as her life is in a mess. Once he left, he broke the oath of sharing happiness and sadness with each other. To stay forever in each other's happiest times and to never leave each other in their miserable moments alone.

Lisa sat on the floor, the cold marbles reminding her how unfair life could be. Nobody understood her dilemma. It was a tug of war between the heart and the brain, and at this moment, brain won the game. She could not pull her loved ones into the hate games. She picked up her phone and messaged William that she won't be going home and would stay at her office.

She had a bedroom attached to her office, but she never used it before as she always love to go home after a day's work. This is the first time she was going to stay in this bedroom of hers. She wiped her tears and got up from the floor and went to the washroom. Her bathroom was equipped with a great sound system. She selected that herself. She was fond of music. Her bedroom, kitchen, living room, office car etc. were all equipped with great music/sound system.

Back to the present, she played "In the End" by Linkin Park.

I tried so hard,

and got so far

But in the end

It doesn't even matter

Lisa got into the bathtub. She needed hot bath to relieve the stress she was feeling and she needed to sort out her emotions. Whatever happened today should not have happened. She has to become stronger. Only then can she reach the pinnacle.

The song coincided with her current mood. She played it in a loop. After a long time, she felt drowsy and dragged her tired body out of the bath and dried herself and wore simple pyjamas and a cotton t-shirt. She sat in front of the mirror and blow-dried her jet black hair which reached her waist.
