Allison's POV
The pain is everywhere. My muscles scream, my bones feel shattered, and my pride, what little of it I have left, is bleeding out just as much as the cuts on my skin. I try to lift my head, but the world spins, and I collapse back into the mud, tasting the earth, blood, and sweat that mix on my lips. The sky above is a blinding canvas of white as the sun glares down at me, mocking my weakness.
"He cares for her."
If it weren't for the sun burning my eyes and the cold of the muddied waters seeping into my bones, I would've thought the voice was part of a dream. But it's real, and I'm the laughingstock of a group of girls who all work for Hunter. I'm at their training field, a place that feels like the middle of nowhere but is equipped with everything needed to break someone down.
