I perceived blood, human blood to be precise. Someone had fired a gun at the human. He had not gotten away from my grip, I was going to catch him and take it away from him.

"Who shot the gun?" I ask into the mouth piece.

"It was Caleb. He is at side of the museum."

"Then let us go there."

My team bowed slightly before running in the direction Caleb had shot the human holding the thing that belonged to me.

I led a team of ten. When we called for back up, dad immediately dispatched fifty men. I led ten of them, while the rest that came with me originally also led ten each. I was not so far from the museum. He was human, they did not have the stamina to run that fast or far, we were gods in comparison, they were not biologically wired to be half as fast as we were, so I knew we would catch up to him. It was almost too easy.

"Caleb??! Where is he?" I called out when my team and I rounded the side.

Caleb was a Delta, not the one who saw the human running away, I learned that was Finn. Caleb was crouched on the floor, his head blocking the view of what was going on. I hated not knowing anything about a situation so I walked forward to see what was going on for myself.

"Did you kill him?" I could not sense a single life force within the human.

"I did not mean to kill him.. I thought he was the human that stole it, and I aimed for the leg I don't understand how.."

"What do you mean you thought he was the human?"

Caleb let out a shaky breath. He knew what was coming to him.

"Search him, he should be with it." I say icily.

The men with Caleb immediately get to work, searching the dead human for what I feared was not there.

"Caleb, how did you know this was our human?" I hated that I called the thief our human, but there was no other way to describe him.

I dragged Caleb up to his feet, raising him up two feet in the air.

"Answer my questions before I snap your neck!"

"He was crawling under the bushes when we arrived and when I told him to come forward, he resisted, he tried to run away.. and I took the shot.."

I gritted my teeth hard.

"M, this dead human seems to be a homeless man. I don't think it's the guy we are looking for."

My wolf was impatient, she liked the peace of the pack just like I did. And now this moron had everyone focusing on someone else while the culprit was out in the open, at large, running away to heaven knows where.

"Everyone continue the search. We will not be leaving here till we find that human."

With my order all of them scampered, scattering around the premises, searching for the human that had somehow evaded us all. He evaded over fifty of us, with our impeccable sense of smell, our strength, he had made a mockery of us, a mockery of me, and I will find him and he will see death.

"I will deal with you later." I say before letting Caleb drop to the floor with a hard thud.

The thoughts of taking an emergency control measures for this body, I felt a head ache form at the sides of my head.

"Caleb, I order you to take the control measure for this body."

He looked at me with wide eyes. I know what he was thinking. It was not the job of a Delta, I was basically sending him off to die, or wish he was dead.

"You better come back alive. I need to punish you myself."

I run off with that order. Stopping just on top of the museum. We had frozen the time inside of the museum so that the guards inside did not pour out.

With so many humans wandering around the museum, it was hard to pin point the exact location of this thief, especially when I had no clue what he smelled like. I growl, this was not in the plan. I went over everything, everything, from beginning, over all the possibilities. Even one with the humans guarding this place suddenly getting powers. What I did not count on was that foolish human, who was faster, who took what belonged to me.

My phone rang in my pockets. It startled me, disrupting my focus when I was trying to zoom in on nearby humans.

It was my father.

"Millicent, how is it going so far?"

Only my father called me Millicent, every other person called me M, just how I preferred it. What fearless leader was called Millicent. It even gets worse, father called me Millie when it was unofficial and wanted to get a reaction out of me.

"Bad. The men you gave me are the most incompetent bunch. Why didn't you let me pick my own men?"

"Millie, they are your chance at proving to everyone you are good without lifting a finger, that is intentional PR, almost intentional anyway."

"What use is your intentional PR when the men already jeopardized the entire mission?"

I was getting angry all over again. I end the call. Everything was rushing back to me. The meeting of the pack leaders, the settlement with the rogues from the east, the gossip of the pack members. Everything came back to me in a rush.

"You are too young."

"You are incompetent!"

"This is why women's place should not be at the top!"

"You are supposed to be pleasing men, not ruling them!"

I wanted to end, I needed it to end, I wanted to show them that I was better than all of the former pack leaders combined. I was the Alpha of the Crescent moon pack, and I was worthy of their acceptance.

I jump off the building in a free fall. Slowing the time just to make sure I don't reach the earth as fast as I was supposed to. Being in the air was freeing, I could not imagine the freedom birds felt everyday, even if everyone in the pack had their eyes on me and their claws out to draw blood, it would not feel this heavy if I could fly. Times like this I envy birds, instead of being a werewolf, I wonder why the moon goddess did not make me a bird. Maybe because she was only in charge of the creatures of the night, maybe because I didn't deserve to be free.

When I land, I let my wolf be free. She would take control. I was certain.

What I was not certain of, was the pull I felt. I felt a string tug inside of me, I have never felt it before, in all my eighteen human years. I shifted back into a human. The pull was a bit stronger, putting me on edge. My ears perked up for any sound that indicated a threat. That's when I first heard it.

'mate!'
