Should I marry you?

Laura click her tongue—he was none other than the guy who saved her one week ago.

As though he sensed her gaze, Richard briefly appraised her before taking one long stride into the elevator. They watched in silence as the men swiftly stepped into the elevator.

"He is Richard Williams." Tony squealed close to Laura's ear in a tone that was, unfortunately, obstreperous to even be considered a whisper.

Slightly embarrassed, she turned to glance apologetically at the impassive-looking man.

"BABEL—Um!" Tony words were interrupted by a groan as Laura dug her elbow into the former's stomach.

The elevator shook slightly with a muffled thud as it started to make its way up. Laura hold her breath until the elevator arrived on their floor. Upon exiting the lift, Laura brought her hand up to her chest as though she needed to calm herself.

"What are you so anxious about?." Tony asked when he saw his friend was acting strangely.

"I am not," Laura replied in bafflement. "Who are those men?." Laura asked.

"Seriously!" Tony gasped. "Richard Williams, the heir to the BABEL Family fortune has returned to the country, and he's officially taking over the BABEL."

"What he is doing here?." Laura asked in displeasure.

"Deal project. Our company is partnered with BABEL for the Deal project. Moreover, he's charming and handsome without being tainted by any scandal! He's nearly thirty-five and he's still a bachelor!" Tony broke into a huge grin.

At that moment her phone rang. When she saw her grandmother calling her, she frowned, but still quickly picked it up.

-------

Later evening, Tony drove Laura to her Grandma's mansion. Laura felt uneasy for some reason. She stood there until Mr Haskett, the butler, came to greet her.

"You're back, little young miss. Why are you standing there?." Mr Haskett ushered her in, and she smiled. "Grandma is in the living room. She has a guest today."

"A guest?" Laura asked. "She called me to come—" Before she could finish, Mr Haskett opened the living room door for her.

"Thank you." Laura entered but she was puzzled inside. She saw a man sitting in the room. His back was facing her. However, that man looked familiar, so that puzzled her.

"Laura, you are here. Have you been busy lately?" Grandma Rose happily smiled at Laura.

"It's been so long, grandma. I miss you so much." Laura hugged Grandma's arm like a child and swung it.

"Pull yourself together. I have a guest here." Grandma Rose then lead Laura over. "Let me introduce you to her, Richard. She's my granddaughter, Laura Fuller, this is my friend's son Richard Williams."

"Miss Laura, Nice to meet you again." The man stood up. He was wearing a black suit with his hand in his pocket. His whole body exuded a cold aura.

Laura's mind was blank at that moment. Not knowing how to respond or what to do, she tensed with her feet planted on the ground.

Grandma Rose arched her eyebrow, then she looked at them sceptically. "You guys met before?"

Laura panicked when she noticed how Rose was looking at them, so she quickly said, "We met once at one of my friend's birthday."

Laura lowered her gaze, pressing her lips together.  "We did meet once," Richard replied with a half smile.

Laura remained silent the whole time. "It's getting late, so Laura, you should go back too. Will you mind sending her home for me, Richard?"

"Grandma!" Laura squinted her eyes. She cleared her throat. "I am okay, Grandma. I can manage myself."

"I'll be honoured too," Richard replied, and then he looked at Laura with a smile.

"What's wrong with him?" Laura grumbled in her mind.

"Thank you, Richard." Grandma Rose's expression turned into delight.

For some reason, Laura felt uneasy with Richard. But now that he had said so, she couldn't refuse him, or else it would be rude.

-------

"Please come in, Ms Fuller" Richard holds the car door for her. He smiled. "Seatbelt."

After telling him the address, Laura didn't speak a word.

Richard wasn't an idiot, so he could see her distaste for him. When they came to her complex, the man glanced at her. "You seem to dislike me, Miss Laura."

Laura's heart was pounding as she met his eyes. She took a deep breath before she said. "I want to thank you for the clothes and for calling the doctor. Thank you, Mr Williams".

The car reached its destination at that moment. "Your boyfriend became your brother-in-law, and your parents don't trust you. You are quite an interesting lady." Richard tapped his fingers on the steering wheel, and then he unlocked the doors.

"What? What do you want to say?" Laura clenched her jaw.

"Don't you hate him for hurting you? He's the one closest to you." Richard answered her question with another question.

"So, The situation is just right. Should I marry you?." Laura shot a sharp glare at him.

"I don't hate that idea." Richard shrugged.

This guy is mad! He must be really mad!

"Mr Richard Fuller, I don't have the time for this. Thank you for the ride." Laura snapped before she rushed out of the car.
