Amaya POV

When Jason told us that he was going to convince his brother to join the special task force that the council had made, I already knew that our time together would be cut short.

I was hoping that he could spend another week with me here in the Shadows Pack, but I understood he was first and foremost the Alpha of the Silver Moon Pack.

I couldn't deny that I would probably have done the same thing if I were in his place. I would have chosen to go home for the benefit of the packs and of the entire supernatural world. I couldn't let my selfishness get in the way of what would be best for our people.

Of course I let him go, I wasn't selfish.

Our packs came before sex.

"So when will you leave?" I asked him, hoping that he would stay for another night or two.

'I hope our mate stays for another night, it will be lonely without him.' I heard Ares pine in my head.
