A Knight was considered a quasi noble by him and a baron was only the lowest ranking of nobles.
He was the son of a count and between him and a baron there was still an entire noble rank that could only be made up with generations of hard work and merits

As Xander said this, he got up from the table and walked straight out of the dining hall, not wanting to spend another second in that humiliating place
