Jesy sat inside the luxury car arranged for her by Dennis, although she had no idea why, but she was grateful for his thoughtfulness, this would save her from trekking home. But she wondered why though, after she cursed at him before, she thought he must have despised her. Looks like choosing to work with High Life wasn't a bad idea after all, she might be enjoying such privilege once in a while.
She let out a small sigh as she stared outside through the window. Her thoughts drifted to what happened today and a smile appeared on her lips when she recalled the stupid stunt she pulled before the masked CEO because she didn't want to look desperate for the job, how funny because that was the real case, she was really desperate for the job.
"Does this mean am now an actress? But that can't be the case since I haven't filmed any movie yet. But I already signed a contract, am an actress now? Argh! Whatever."
Jesy argued with herself, it felt so surreal, today wasn't that bad anyways. She awkwardly smiled when she caught the driver staring at her from the rareview mirror. She must have looked crazy talking to herself.
Her smile died down the moment she remembered the way that assistant from before back there in the private make-up room was treated like an animal because she accidentally ruined a dress. Jesy recalled how Dinah behaved and she wondered if that was how every other movie star behaved to the people inferior to them.
Dinah Rex. Jesy had heard a lot about this name, but everything she heard about the name were all positive things. She had even watched so many movies Dinah Rex starred in, but none of them portrayed her to be a bad character. Dinah Rex always acted as the good girl in every of her movies Jesy watched in the past.
"How pretentious and ironic too."
Jesy whispered, she really felt sorry for the assistant who was beaten up badly.
"Uh, please stop here, I'll continue from here, thank you."
Jesy stopped the driver when she saw she was almost close to the house. It would be much better if she dropped down from here.
The driver obediently stopped the car and Jesy climbed down, she waved at the driver and started walking to her house. She could not help the smile on her face.
"Phew, now that I've successfully signed a contract, the next thing I'll do is to quietly wait until I'll be called for work, then I'll work hard to get a name for myself. Sigh…now that I think about it, it looks like this wouldn't be so easy."
Jesy murmured to herself as she walked down the street, it was already five pm. The day was drawing to an end. Jesy reached the front door of her house, she turned the doorknob, it was open. Pushing the door open, she stepped into the house and what welcomed her was the sound of TV playing from the living room.
"Someone's inside?"
Jesy frowned as she questioned herself. Closing the door behind her, she pulled off her shoes to change them into a more comfortable slippers, but when she turned to the shoe rack, there was no spare slippers except other shoes and one more shoe that wasn't familiar and she quickly guessed who was inside.
She sighed as she tiptoed barefooted into the living room and just as she had guess, she saw Lydia and Lexi sitting comfortable on the couch facing the TV and was munching on crispy fried chicken and draft beer. Whatever they were watching must be funny because Jesy could hear their giggling.
Lydia seemed to have noticed her presence because she suddenly turned.
"Jesy? You're here, what are you standing there for? Come join us."
Lexi said with a surprised tone when she also turned to see Jesy standing at the door.
Jesy rolled her eyes and stared at them doubtfully.
"No, am good."
"C'mon, don't be like that. We are watching a very interesting drama, you should join us."
Lexi said in a very pitiful tone, she refused to give up.
"So sudden? Why?"
Jesy asked as she suspiciously stared at the both of them on the couch. Why were they suddenly being nice? It was weird.
"Just because. Why? Don't look at me like that. You're really funny."
'Its you guys who is being funny here.'
Jesy thought in her head. She scrutinized the both of them with her gaze and I eyes lingered on Lydia. She wasn't really comfortable around this Lydia.
"You are discharged from the hospital already?"
Jesy asked as she walked closer to the couch they say on, but she had no plans of joining them, she would just pretend to care about Lexi and she would run to her comfort zone, her room.
"Yeah, even the doctor was surprised, it was thanks to Josh who took real care of Lexi till she was feeling better. He looked busy yet he spent time looking after Lexi, he is so sweet. You are one lucky person Lexi."
It was Lydia who spoke. Jesy was taken aback for a moment. This was unexpected.
"I hope you don't mind Jesy. I know he is your boyfriend but I was really sick and needed someone by my side, am really grateful for your boyfriend's help."
Lexi smiled dreamingly as she spoked. Surprise was an understatement of how Jesy felt. If there was any word higher than surprise, then Jesy was feeling even more than that, as if that wasn't enough, Lydia spoke.
"Lexi, how can you be so forgetful. Jesy is no longer together with Josh. You've forgotten already?"
