Jesy was silently fidgeting as she silently waited for what her fate would be. It wasn't her fault, it was simply an accident. She knew it was Euphoria's hand that knocked her coffee out of her grasp, but it simply wasn't intentional. She gulped as she met with the woman's bloodshot eyes, it looked so scary.
Of course, the rich were as scary when they were being messed up with, especially by the poor and low lives.
Akira and Clara stood up from where they sat seeing the commotion. Akira studied the situation and her eyes fell on Euphoria, she sighed and looked away.
Right now, Jesy was silently thinking of a way to compensate for the dress, she was penniless and didn't know which other way to pay for ruining this oh so expensive dress. Maybe she should wash it with a very expensive detergent and return it to the woman? That doesn't sound good because it doesn't look like the woman would buy such idea. Right! Maybe she should work as a maid for the woman for a month as payment for the dress because seeing the quality of this royal blue gown, Jesy was sure she would never be able to pay for it.
Clara was as well taken aback by the sudden turn of event, this wasn't expected at all. She sighed and was about to step in to apologize to the woman even though she knew a simple apology wouldn't solve the case. But just as Clara was about to step up, the woman's voice made her halt in her steps.
"Oh my goodness! Jesy?!"
The woman's statement caused everyone to be puzzled, especially Euphoria. Jesy blinked her eyes as she stared at the woman whom she didn't understand how the woman suddenly knew her name.
But after looking at the face of the woman for a long time, it suddenly clicked and Jesy immediately recognized the woman. A surprised look graced her face as she stared at the woman from head to toe.
"Stephanie?!"
Jesy called back and it dawned on everyone that they might have known each other. Seeing that there wasn't going to be any drama to watch, everyone despatched and continued with their day.
The woman whose name was Stephanie totally forgot about her ruined dress and walked towards Jesy and enveloped her in a warm hug. That's right, they both knew each other in college.
Back then, when they still attended college, Jesy didn't make much close friends because Lexi was always there to destroy her good image and make everyone see her as the bad girl through different means. Of course, nobody wanted to have a close relationship with a 'bad girl', so they hardly made friends with Jesy.
Although, Stephanie wasn't a very close friend, she could still count as a friend because they spent little time in the school's cafeteria and talked a few times. They most times walked back home together and they once fought for each other when they got bullied.
Jesy wasn't surprised when she saw she could barely recognize Stephanie. After hearing the news about Stephanie marrying into a rich family back in college, Jesy already guessed Stephanie would change a lot. Like her, Stephanie wasn't from a rich family and that was why the change was so glaring and highly evident.
Jesy breathed in relief and hugged Stephanie back. She was really thankful that Stephanie was someone she knew, else, she couldn't guess what she would have done to save herself.
They hugged for a while and disengaged from the hug. Akira looked at the two of them and sighed in relief. She was relieved because she already knew that Jesy would be in a huge mess if the woman happened to be a stranger. It'll be difficult to negotiate nicely because people like them would want to sort out tormenting means of payment, it would have been a long day today.
Clara who had wanted to jump into the scene quietly sat back and watched as Jesy conversed with the woman. She was honestly nervous because she had no experience in dealing with this kind of people, they were so lucky that the woman knew Jesy from wherever.
"Wow Jesy, look at you, you've changed a lot."
Stephanie smiled and looked at Jesy from top to bottom. She never had thought she would see her very good college friend. Yes, Stephanie actually saw Jesy as a good friend but the same couldn't be said for Jesy. Both their definition of friendship was totally different. To Stephanie, what she shared with Jesy in college, no matter how little, was a true definition of friendship.
"I've changed? Really? Isn't it you who changed? I couldn't even recognize you. Hahaha!"
Jesy said with a small laugh. To speak an honest truth, Jesy actually felt uncomfortable sitting and talking to Stephanie. The Stephanie sitting right now was a different Stephanie from before. There was a big difference and Jesy's shabby appearance, or so, she thought, made the difference so glaring.
"Ha, right. What are you doing here?"
Stephanie asked as she stared curiously at Jesy. She knew Jesy wasn't someone who could afford such an expensive clothes mall. Except a lot must have changed for Jesy too.
"Oh, am actually here to buy a dress for an event tonight."
Jesy spoke, still feeling uncomfortable. She awkwardly smiled and looked around for the fact that she was uncomfortable not to be so obvious, but it seems Stephanie noticed it and not just Stephanie, Clara, Euphoria and Akira noticed Jesy was uncomfortable. Now, that confused them as they curiously looked at Jesy.
