Under Watch

Waking up the next day, Heaven stretched his body and headed down to the kitchen after wearing his work clothes.

Looking at the empty kitchen, Heaven's eyes drifted over to the lone plate on the table. On the plate was a small note addressed to him from his mother.

[Went to visit a friend. I'll be back before dinner time.

- Love, Mom]

Smiling, Heaven pocketed away the note before beginning to eat the breakfast his mother prepared for him.

Finishing his plate of food, Heaven went to the sink to wash it where he saw two plates, his mother and brother's plates.

Washing all three plates, Heaven grabbed his personal set of keys and locked the house.

"Sir."

Adam greeted Heaven and opened the door to his work car for Heaven.

"Morning Adam," Heaven said, returning the greeting.

Closing the door behind Heaven, Adam drove him to his work place disguised under the antique shop.

In just a couple of minutes, Heaven arrived at the antique shop.

"Come back in eight hours, Adam," Heaven said as he entered the antique shop.

Giving the old lady the password, Heaven continued onwards to the back of the shop before entering the facility.

Entering the facility, Heaven could see that there were many more people than usual, specially soldiers.

Walking past them, Heaven knew that important people had come.

Soon, in Howard's work area, besides Howard, stood four other people. One of them was a woman, the others were three military men.

Out of the three military men was a colonel while the other two simply seemed like his bodyguards.

They were talking amongst each other before halting when Howard noticed Heaven from the corner of his eyes. Following his gaze, the other four turned to look at Heaven as well.

"Heaven! You arrived just in time," Howard said as he pulled Heaven to his side. "Meet our Advisor, Peggy Carter, and the Director of this whole project, Colonel Chester Phillips."

"Nice to meet you, Ms. Carter," Heaven said after hearing Howard's introduction of the two important people with him.

Turning to look at Peggy, Heaven could see her scrutinizing gaze as she studied him. Flashing her a smile, he simply extended his hand for a handshake.

"My name is Heaven."

"Nice to meet you, Heaven," Peggy said, giving him a subtle nod and a smile.

Turning to look at Chester, Heaven nodded and said, "Nice to meet you as well, Colonel."

"Hm," Chester hummed as he looked at Heaven before turning to look at Howard. "Is this that new assistant of yours, Stark."

"Yes! The kid's bright, helped Dr. Erskine quite a lot," Howard said, speaking up for Heaven's ability and presence in the project.

This project was under Chester's jurisdiction as its director, any mishap and failure would fall unto him. He had to keep a close eye not just on the people involved, but on the candidates for this project.

He needed the best of results!

Turning to give Heaven one last look, Chester eventually just walked away with the other two soldiers. Peggy, on the other hand, remained behind.

She cast Heaven a curious glance as he and Howard began talking to each other.

"Heaven, take a look at these blueprints," Howard said as he passed Heaven a couple of papers he had in hand.

Heaven took the papers from Howard and looked at the design and blueprints for the machine Howard wanted to build.

Looking at the title of the designs, Heaven read 'Vita Machine'.

Scrutinizing the design, Heaven changed some minor details before passing it back to Howard.

"The design was already complete, just needed some small adjustments," Heaven said as he passed the designs back to Howard. "Is this machine's purpose to produce a form of radiation that will aid in the activation of the properties within the Super Soldier Serum? It's quite innovative."

Howard raised his eyebrows and nodded to Heaven, "You have great acumen, kid. Yes, this machine will radiate Vita Rays, which will activate the properties within the Super Soldier Serum."

Peggy looked at Heaven, slightly impressed at his analytical abilities.

"Come, help me speed things up," Howard said as he grabbed a couple of tools and went over to the empty area where the machine will be.

Following, Heaven grabbed a select few tools and began working as well.

Peggy kept an eye on them for a couple of minutes before walking away. She went over to Abraham's lab and talked with him for a short while before leaving.

Most presumably to deal with other stuff like preparing the search for candidates.

Hours later, Heaven and Howard made some considerable progress as they managed to build the components and integral parts to the Vita Machine.

"Great. With your help, we can finish the machine and the consoles in two weeks. Afterward, I can do some other things," Howard mentioned as he looked at the parts on the floor.

He nodded his head and turned to look at the other mechanics who have been working on the console for a while.

"I'm going out to get a drink," Howard said, ending his work for the day. "See you tomorrow, kid."

Howard left with a degenerate smile on his face as he thought about the women he's going to be meeting out whilst drinking.

Heaven rolled his eyes seeing Howard act like this. No matter how classy Howard acted or smart he was, he let himself go with his lust.

Turning to look at Abraham's lab, Heaven decided to pay him a little visit and maybe take a couple of chemicals home.

After combining his knowledge with Earth's, Heaven could now recreate various things like elixirs, pills, potions, and even make new chemicals and ingredients.

One of them being the Metamorphosis Elixir.

This was the special mixture Heaven had been hoping to make to fix his weak body and grant him a body born for martial arts and anything else that included the supernatural, mysticism, Dao and anything else of the universe.

This elixir, like it's name describes, makes the body go through a sort of transformation from an ordinary and weak body to the Heavenly Martial Body, a body made for martial arts and even increases the effectiveness of learning martial arts and anything relating to it and the spirit and mind,

Those with this body tend to have precise control over every portion of their body and power down to the most minuscule detail. Aside from that, the body also becomes tougher and continues to do so as one continues to get stronger.

The same is applied to stamina, endurance and vitality.

Walking into the lab, Heaven looked over at Abraham who was resting.

"Abraham, how's the research going?" Heaven asked, walking over to Abraham.

"Mm… a couple failures, but it's going great," Abraham said, turning to look at Heaven with a smile.

Heaven nodded, "That's good to hear. Failures only help one to see the errors."

Abraham chuckled and stood up, "What brings you here, Heaven?"

Heaven looked around the room with curious eyes.

"Nothing much. Howard's inviting us out to drink, do you want to go?"

"Thank you, but I'd rather stay here and continue studying. Wouldn't want to drink until I've finally completed the Super Soldier Serum," Abraham said as he looked at a couple of chemicals to the side.

Heaven nodded, knowing Abraham would have answered that way.

"I see… I also came by to pick up some chemicals to take home. You don't mind, do you?" Heaven asked, looking at Abraham.

"Go ahead! The military gives me a lot of this stuff. I could make various serums and compounds for years and I would still have some to spare!"

Gesturing behind himself, Abraham pointed at a door that led to a walk-in cooling room.

"That's pretty nice of the military," Heaven said, knowing full well that they are simply sponsoring Abraham to speed up the research process of the Super Soldier Serum.

They offered him various chemicals in case he needed them in order to change up the recipe for the serum and other various things.

Abraham chuckled and gave Heaven a piece of paper.

"Write down all the things you take. Although they're 'giving it away', they want to keep track of everything. I'll just tell them that I used it in an attempt to recreate the serum from scratch," Abraham said as he also handed Heaven a pen.

Accepting the items, Heaven nodded with a smile on his face.

Grabbing the items he needs, and a couple of other chemicals to throw off Abraham or anyone else who pays attention to what he's getting.

With a smile on his face, Heaven walked out of the lab with a sealed case in one hand filled with various chemicals, and on the other hand was a suitcase filled with necessary beakers and equipment.

With a smile, Heaven bade Abraham goodbye before heading out of the facility

Just as Heaven stepped into the antique shop, Heaven came face to face with an English beauty. Her piercing eyes studied him and the two cases in his hands.

"Ms. Carter! What a pleasant surprise," Heaven said with a smile as he eyed the beautiful woman before him.

"Mr. King, are you free right now?" asked Peggy as she looked at Heaven smilingly.

Heaven smiled and nodded, "Completely free right now, Ms. Carter."

At Heaven's agreement, Peggy turned around and led the way whilst Heaven narrowed his eyes slightly in amusement.

The military ran a background check on him and must have found it suspicious that he had joined the Super Serum Project just a day before the bombing at Pearl Harbor. Not to mention that he had gotten so close to Abraham so quickly as well.

Sending their best agent, Peggy, was the military's method of drawing information out of Heaven and possibly seeing where he stood in the war.

Now that he was carrying two cases straight from the lab, Peggy must be seeing Heaven as a rather suspicious individual.

Exiting the antique shop, Heaven took notice of a car waiting for him and Peggy. He watched as Peggy entered the vehicle and waited for him to enter.

Smiling, Heaven entered the vehicle with Peggy and set the two cases between him and Peggy.

"What's the occasion, Ms. Carter?" Heaven asked, his eyes closed as he relaxed in the car.

Peggy looked at Heaven and took note of his calmness and actions.

"Just a routine for the new hires," said Peggy as she glanced at Heaven. "Since you will be working alongside the military, it will be best for you to know about certain things."

"I understand," Heaven responded.

Looking at Heaven from the corner of her eyes, Peggy looked down at the two cases between him and herself.

"Curious?"

Peggy looked up at Heaven and watched as Heaven grabbed one of the suitcases and began to open it calmly.

Cautious, Peggy's hand, hidden from view, reached for her handgun, ready to draw it at a moment's notice.

"In this case, I borrowed some equipment from Dr. Erskine," Heaven explained as he pulled out a couple of flasks, beakers, and a burner before putting them away and grabbing the other case.

Watching Heaven move, Peggy remained tense as she studied the situation and his actions.

"In this case are a couple of chemicals I wish to use for a personal project of my own," Heaven said as he turned to look at Peggy with a smile. "I'm aiming to create a growth formula aimed towards plant life. I don't want to wait a couple of months just to get the most delicious fruits of the season. Instead, I want to be able to eat them whenever I want."

Hearing Heaven's words, Peggy relaxed the hold on her gun but didn't let go.

"I've already had a couple of successful trials, but I lacked some chemicals," Heaven said as he closed the case in his hands and sealed it.

Peggy looked at Heaven and removed her hand from her weapon after seeing him no longer doing anything.

If Heaven was under the suspicion of being a spy, then she had to be wary of anything he did or said. Yet so far she hadn't seen anything that told her that he was a spy.

Nothing that could prove his innocence either.

'I'll have to keep an eye on him…'

As Peggy thought to herself, they arrived at a military base.
