Chapter 3

Gianna's POV

My job is clear, as stupid as it is, it is very clear. Make a guy fall in love with me, leave him heartbroken, and wait until the one who hired me to swoop in and let them be together.

"There's only one rule here. Don't fall in love with him, and don't let him fall in love with you." I just met this woman a few minutes ago and I can't believe how ridiculous this job is.

"Why do you want me to do this job?" I have to ask because this has been the craziest job there will be if I ever accept this.

"I know it's weird, it's crazy even. But, he hurts me. And where I came from, it's an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth." Danielle Stevens, daughter of a business mogul, filthy rich and can get literally anything she puts her eye on yet she can't get this Joaquin guy.

"Look, I'll pay you any amount. Name the price." She continues talking.

"I'm actually uncomfortable with this." Who wouldn't be?

"You just got fired, Gianna. I'll cover your family's debt and all, just do this job." Is she even for real?

"How do you know that?" She probably has a guy for that, but whatever. The moment that she offered to pay my family's debt, I'm all ears and heart.

"Okay, I'll do it."

I still can't believe I agreed on doing this job. But, I need this. Danielle was a businesswoman herself, she only paid for half of my family's debt until my work is done. I might say, this job's not that bad at all. Free clothes, shoes, bag, and a car - well, the car's only for rent but who cares, right?

Right now, I'm not Gianna who has 3 jobs, but I am Gianna who is an up-and-coming restaurateur here in California. Apparently, I own three coffee shops that were not yet famous, but they're getting there. Danielle did all the dirty works, just for the sake of Joaquin's heart being broken.

Joaquin Salvador, the man who broke Danielle's heart so bad that I am doing this. I haven't seen him in person yet, but I'm hoping to meet him soon.

"An espresso, please." A man with the most velvety voice said. It's Joaquin.

"To go?" I ask.

"No, I'll be drinking that here." His brown eyes pierced through mine, and I finally get why Danielle's so hang up on him.

"Here you go, and a chocolate cake on the house." I smile.

"You're new here?" He asked.

"Well, yeah. I just bought this shop." No, it's Danielle who bought this. And, I worked here before.

"Oh, cool. You know, I might just come here a lot. May I know your name?" Wow, he's fast.

"Gianna." I offered my hand for him to shake and as he took it I was caught off guard. He didn't shake my hand, he kissed the back of it. Well done letting me know he's interested.

Joaquin's POV

I don't know why I did what I did a while ago. All I know was that I am mesmerized by her beauty. I must let her know I'm interested.

Gianna. What a beautiful name suited for a beautiful girl. I haven't felt this kind of feeling ever since Katherine. That love at first sight movie kind of feeling, that's what I felt when I saw her and stared into her eyes.

My phone rings showing Danielle's caller ID. For weeks, she has been calling me asking to meet up for dinner or something. That's why I dumped her, she's needy, and always on my business.

"You know, that's like the tenth time I saw your phone lit up." Gianna raises an eyebrow. Aren't you a little peeper?

"Just some girl."

"Hey, you mind going out sometime?" I have to be brave. Hope she'll say yes.

"Yeah, sure." She smiled a smile that is so innocent yet intoxicating.
