Guardian in DC

"Ugh, my head..." The Hunter groaned as he plucked themselves up from the trash surrounding them. "Note to self, never touch Cayde's alcohol again."

.

As he surveyed his surroundings, a bright light appeared at their side. From the light, a small, white, drone-like robot appeared with a banana peel covering most of its body. The Hunter let out a chuckle before reaching up and removing the banana peel from his ghost.

.

"You okay, Spark?" The Hunter asked.

"Yeah, I just feel dirty," The ghost spoke as its shell started to spin all the gunk off. "I need a good scrubbing."

"I hear ya, I could go for a nice hot shower myself," The Hunter said as he flicked a bit of gunk off his shoulder. "Anyway, where are we?"

"Give me a second, I'll try to find out," Spark said as it went to pull up its map. "Odd, I can't pull up our location."

"Can you contact the Vanguard?" The Hunter asked, slightly worried.

"I can't do that either, it's like we're not even on the same continent anymore," Spark stated.

"That can't be good," The Hunter spoke as he realized where they were. A trash heap. "I just realized, why are we in a trash heap? Shouldn't the City be constantly breaking down these things and recycling them?"

"Uh, Guardian?" Spark asked, grabbing his Guardian's attention. "Look up."

.

The Guardian looked up to where Spark was looking and saw a city not too far off. But what grabbed both of their attention was that it looked nothing like the city they knew. The buildings were made of brick and not one was more than thirty stories tall except for a few. The city also looked old.

The Guardian and Spark looked at each other before nodding together. Spark disappeared and the Guardian started to trudge through the trash heap, advancing toward the city. Right now, they needed information. Without it, they were flying blind.

As the Guardian emerged from the trash heap, he looked left and right, surprised at what he saw.

.

[Spark, are you seeing this?] The Guardian asked as he looked at the cars moving down the road.

[Yea, even during the Golden Age, there were no vehicles like these,] Spark spoke, their telepathic connection strong. [I don't believe we're on the Earth we know anymore.]

[Only one way to find out, Spark,] The Guardian said as he maneuvered his way down the street.

[Find me an access port to the systems of this place and I'll work my magic,] Spark suggested as the Guardian entered an alley between two buildings.

.

The Guardian agreed before looking for some sort of port that they could hack into. As the Guardian searched around, they suddenly heard an alarm go off. The Guardian, against Spark's pleas, rushed over.

As he sprinted out of the alley, rushing down the street towards the alarm, the Guardian saw flames being shot into the sky. The screams of people were loud enough for him to hear over a block away. Pushing himself to go faster, the Guardian made use of [Arc] energy to move even faster. In seconds, the Guardian was at the scene. There, he and Spark saw a man dressed as a clown shooting civilians while several other people were moving a pile of green paper into an old age van.

The Guardian saw that this freak was a monster in human skin. So with his [Arc] energy still active, he summoned his [Arc Staff] and charged toward them.

As lightning flowed out of him and his staff, he struck the first thug who saw him in the gut. As the first thug was sent flying while being electrocuted, the Guardian seemingly teleported to the second thug. Swinging his staff with grace, the Guardian tripped and then punted the second thug. Again, seemingly to teleport, the third thug was knocked in the head before the Guardian disappeared again.

As the fourth thug, a chick with pigtails and white face-paint managed to dodge his strike, the Guardian had to use his staff to block the retaliation attack she threw using a large mallet. The chick was smiling madly as she sent a kick to the Guardian's groin. The guardian disengaged as he dodged the kick with a spin and struck again, this time with a thrust. The chick just acrobatically flipped away while sending a rising smash to the Guardian's chest.

As the Guardian leaned back to dodge the swing, he had to do a full flip to dodge the incoming shot from the clown freak.

.

"Well, well. What do we have here?" The clown said as he held the smoking gun. "Some new bat boy?"

"I don't know toots, Charlie's dead," The chick said as she stood next to the first person the Guardian hit.

"Well, he can't be one of Batsy's then. Maybe some new schmuck on the block then?" The clown guessed.

"Does it matter?" The Guardian asked them as he readied himself to fight. "You're gonna end up like him anyway."

"Don't you know who I am?" The clown shouted as he stretched his arms wide. "I'm the Clown Prince of Crime! The Harlequin of Hate!" Yet the Guardian remained unfazed.

"Yeah, don't you know puddin'?" The chick asked, clearly surprised at the Guardian's attitude towards them.

"No, I don't,"

.

It was then that the Guardian shot forward, disappearing from their sights. He appeared in front of the chick with a spinning roundhouse that was far faster than what he had shown before. As the kick connected, the Guardian felt her rib cage crack as she was sent flying.

Turning around, the Guardian swung his staff like a sword and knocked the clown off his feet. Before he could land, the Guardian drew back his arm and thrust his staff forward faster than the eye could see.

The clown was sent flying into the Old Age van, denting the back of it with his body. As the Guardian released a slow breath, he heard sirens closing in. Looking towards the sound, the Guardian saw that several cars with a shield-like badge with red and blue lights came flying down the street.

.

'So slow,' The Guardian thought as they came skidding to a halt in front of him.

.

Out came uniformed people with the badge on their chests and primitive guns drawn. Their cars had 'GCPD' on their sides. The Guardian just sighed when he saw that a few of them were pointed at him. Obviously, he could avoid, deflect, or even tank the shots; but he knew that it was better to just disappear for now and deal with the consequences later.

But just as the Guardian was about to use [Void] energy to disappear, another explosion occurred followed by maniacal laughter. Both the police and the Guardian were caught off guard. As they whipped their heads towards the laughter, they witnessed the van driving off with the chick and the clown gone.

.

[I could have sworn I knocked those two out.] The Guardian said to his ghost.

[That you did, but even I'm surprised at their resilience.] Spark spoke to the Guardian.

.

The Guardian sighed and turned to disappear when he felt something clamp onto his wrist. Looking down at where the feeling came from, he found that his wrist was cuffed. Looking up at the one who did such a thing, the Guardian found a slim adult male with short, greying brown hair and a mustache being the one responsible.

.

[The audacity!] Spark exclaimed in the Guardian's mind.

[This man has to carry his balls on his back to be this daring after what I just did.] The Guardian agreed.

"You're under arrest," The man told the Guardian with all seriousness and authority.

"Does your back hurt from carrying your balls all the time?" The Guardian asked to which he got a few people to chuckle.

.

.

.

The Guardian sighed as he sat, cuffed to a mental table inside an interrogation room. His only companion was his ghost. As the two discussed what they saw and found out on the way, behind the one-way glass was a man dressed up in a bat suit staring at him nonstop. Next to him, a kid about sixteen tapped away at a holographic computer while wearing colorful clothes and a black and yellow cap.

Finally, after an hour of waiting, the Guardian snapped his cuffs off his wrists and kicked his feet up onto the table. By the time that an officer came around into his room, they found the Guardian asleep. Gordon, the one who arrested him, entered inside shortly after to hear the Guardian snoring.

Gordon sighed and knocked the Guardian's feet with a file, waking him up.

.

"You know, for a guy with powers, you seem to be well-trained with them," Gordon asked as he sat down, after making sure that the Guardian was awake. "So, what do I call you?"

"Well, first off, you can call me Kayden," Kayden spoke then spooked two of the three people. "Could you please pull the other two that are watching this into here?"

"Who... Batman," Gordon started to say but mumbled the last part.

'Who the hell is Batman?' Kayden thought as he watched Gordon leave for a minute. When he returned, he came in with two others; one was in a Bat-themed costume and the other was a kid in bright colors. 'Well, that explains that.'

"Kayden," Gordon spoke as he shut the door behind him, "I assume you know who these two are?"

"A child predator with a fursona and his latest victim?" Kayden joked which earned him a glare from the two newcomers.

"Not, cool," The teen said with a glare that didn't faze Kayden.

.

As for the man with the fursona, his glare was much more interesting for Kayden. Kayden saw that the glare was more calculating than giving him the evil eye. Kayden was slightly unnerved at how his body language though. Kayden had seen all sorts of people during his time as a Guardian, but the way Batman held himself made him unreadable to Kayden.

.

"I'm Batman, this is Robin. We're here to discuss what transpired between you and the Joker and Harley Quinn." Batman spoke, but every word he said made Kayden uneasy.

'What the hell is up with this man?' Kayden thought as he pondered. 'Everyone has tells when it comes to body language, yet he has none. Almost like a robot. That or he's highly trained.'

"What do you want to know?" Kayden asked.

"Why did you interfere with their robbery?" Batman asked, demanding slightly.

"Well, I'm new to the area for starters," Kayden started. "Two, I have no clue where I am. Three, I'm the curious type. And lastly, It was the right thing to do."

"You risked your life, just because it was right?" Robin asked, slightly baffled

'Well, that's not the true reason, but it's not like they need to know,' Kayden thought before speaking again. "Anyway, can I go now?"

"You think you can walk out of here after killing a man?" Gordon asked as he sat down in the chair opposite Kayden. "You're a murderer."

"In my defense, that was an accident," Kayden spoke up. "I didn't hit him that hard. Charlie, I think it was that guy's name, they had to have a glass jaw or something."

"You electrocuted him to death," Batman growled.

"Again, an accident," Kayden sighed, "There was no more than the same amount of volts found in a Taser."

"Uh, Bats?" Robin spoke up, a holographic screen floating on his arm. "Autopsy just came in, Kayden here was right. Charlie 'Mayday' Hopps, had a heart condition that required a pacemaker. If any officer tased him, the result would have been the same."

"See?" Kayden spoke as if that validated him.

"It still doesn't excuse you from what transpired," Batman told him.

"You can't keep me here, Batsy," Kayden spoke with slight steel in his voice. "You have no authority here, from what I've gathered so far, you're a vigilante."

"I hate to say it, but he's in the right, Batman," Gordon said. "You're a vigilante, you have no authority." He then turned to Kayden. "But I do."

"That I know," Kayden rolled his eyes, not that they could see it. Helmet and all.

"Since it was an accident as you said, I can't and won't charge you with Murder," Gordon spoke. "But I do want information. No lies or half-truths. Then you're free to go."

"Fair enough," Kayden nodded his head, understanding that this was the best deal he could get. "What do you want to know?"

"For starters, your full name and age," Gordon demanded.

"Kayden is my full name," Kayden said truthfully. "And I'm sixteen."

"No last name? Are you an orphan?" Gordon asked.

"No, I just don't have a last name," Kayden answered, "But, I do have brothers and sisters."

"Anyone, we'd know?" Gordon asked.

"Cayde-6?" Kayden asked to which he shook his head.

.

Kayden then went through several different names. After each one, Kayden became more and more worried. After several minutes of going through names, Kayden started to go through places he'd been to. After getting nothing from the three, Kayden asked his final question.

.

"Have you terraformed Mars or Venus yet?" Kayden asked in a hushed tone.

"How?" Gordon asked, "We're still having trouble getting to the Moon."

.

[Spark, are you thinking the same as me?] Kayden asked Spark mentally.

[They aren't lying, my discreet scans show they've been truthful with us.] Spark replied. [I think we're not on the earth we know anymore.]

.

Kayden sighed and grabbed his helmet. Debating whether or not to tell them what he was thinking. After debating with Spark for a full five minutes, he decided to just come out with it. Worst case scenario, he could just kill them and go into hiding.

.

"Let's start over shall we?" Kayden asked as his helmet digitized, revealing his face for them to see. "My name's Kayden and I don't think I'm on the earth I know anymore."

.

|Chapter 2|

|Kayden's POV|

.

Since I revealed that I wasn't from this earth, I was transferred to a place called 'STAR LABS'. For the last week, I've been stuck here. They provided me with a place to stay, but they ran numerous tests on me. Some of them were talking about breaches and how they rip reality a new one while leaving behind unique energy behind.

I just sighed and let them do their tests.

.

{Later}

.

[Why haven't you asked me to find a port to plug into?] Spark asked as he was stuck in my backpack for the time being. [I'm getting bored just being cooped up in your backpack]

"Simple, I don't trust these people." I sighed, "I wouldn't put it past them to try and fail at understanding you. I rather not lose you."

[Fair enough,] Spark agreed, [But I still think I could help...]

"Spark, I trust you, but the chance to lose you is way too high. If something were to happen to you..."

[I understand. But I still hate being cooped up in here]

"Thank you..." I sighed, "I miss my group...

[I miss them too, I miss the energy they brought.]

.

As Spark and I were reminiscing, a knock sounded from my door. I got up off my bed and went to the door and as I opened my door, a yellow blur shot past me and into my room. The blur turned out to be a kid in a yellow and red suit.

.

"Hey there!" The kid exclaimed as he appeared out of the blur. "Name's Kid Flash!"

.

Before I could respond, Kid Flash started shooting out questions like a machine gun. I couldn't help but deadpan when he started to speed up. By the time my fuse wore thin, another person entered. This time, a man with a solid red suit with gold trim.

.

"Slow down, Kid," The man said, "You're annoying him."

"Sorry, Flash." Kid Flash said sheepishly, "I got too excited. I get fast when I get excited," He said to me.

"I've noticed," I spoke up, "What's up? You need another test?"

"Something like that," Flash said before beckoning me to follow him. "Let's go get something to eat, you've been cooped up in here far too long."

"Food!" Kid Flash shouted before bolting out of the room.

"Sure," I said as I began to follow Flash, "Lead the way."

.

I followed the Flash out and down the hall. Soon, he brought me to the atrium, and from there he showed me the way to the cafeteria. There, the Flash and I chatted away about random things as we waited for our turn. When our turn came, we both got burgers. I grabbed two while the Flash grabbed twelve king-sized burgers.

.

"Got one hell of an appetite," I said, somewhat surprised at how much he was eating.

"Comes with the powers," He said as we both took a bit out of our burgers.

"Damn good," I mumbled as I ate my burger.

"That they are," The flash said as he finished three of his burgers. "Anyway, you've picked up on the conversations about how you came to this Earth, right?"

"Something about Breaches ripping reality a new one and bringing people and things across to different worlds," I said with some idea of what they were talking about.

"Pretty much on the nose," Flash said as he finished his burgers. "But there is an issue with your appearance here."

"What's the issue?" I asked as I finished my first burger.

"The breaches leave a unique energy that we can trace back to the world they originated from," The Flash explained. "But no matter how much we search, we can't find any sort of disturbance that would help us find your Earth."

[Spark?] I asked, hoping that he could shed some light on this.

[He telling the truth.] Spake replied after a moment. [That and he's getting hungry again.]

"I see," I spoke before watching him devour four more burgers in seconds. "Hey, does this place have an archive I can look through? I wouldn't mind learning more about this world as mine's a bit weird."

"Archive?" He thought for a second, "Oh! You mean a library. Sure, we can accommodate you as long as you don't try anything funny or break things."

"Thanks," I sighed and finished off my burgers. "So when can I expect to access the library?"

"Follow me, I'll take you there," Flash said as he stood up, his tray empty.

.

I shrugged and polished off my second burger. Standing up, I followed him to drop off our trays and then to the library. As we walked, he asked me questions about my world. I explained to him the bare bones of my Earth and how we terraformed both Mars and Venus. About the 'Golden Age' as we called it. Suffice to say, he was ecstatic to find out how much my earth expanded. But his excitement was curbed when I told him that the 'Golden Age' had long since passed. When he asked about the current age, I told him it was a dark age.

My story was interrupted when we reached the library. Flash wanted to ask more but he could tell that I didn't want to talk about it anymore. He just showed me to a terminal, or a computer as he called it, and left me alone afterward.
