Catherine stared blankly at him for some time, trying to figure out how she would answer him, for him to have a hunch about her not being entirely human meant he was almost close to finding out she was a witch. It left alarm bells going off in her head. But she knew for a fact that he hadn't discovered that she was a wolf, she did a good job of masking her scent.
She needed to be very careful in what she said now, to avoid unconsciously revealing herself to him.
"Wow, sorry I'm taking time to reply, but, that's a first for me, no one has ever asked me that before. What kind of creature am I? Pfft! Ha-ha-ha!" Audrey laughed out loud to cover her nervousness.
"Catherine," Alpha Lake gently turned her towards him.
"Please," He said softly, taking her hands in his, "I need to know that I'm not going crazy by imagining these kinds of things, please," He lightly squeezed her hand in his.
"I've told you, I'm just a hum-"
