As Alaric and co. were walking down Diagon Alley toward Gringotts, he had just wrapped up his worried thoughts about his old student-turned-enemy.
Don't get him wrong, he wasn't scared of Herpo, and not in the slightest was he worried about being hurt by the lunatic, once he fully reclaimed the orbs of power on his eighteenth birthday, Alaric would have enough power that nobody in the world, past or present, could contest him.
He was more so worried on behalf of his family, he knew that as they were, Herpo if by some absolutely evil miracle does or has come back, would stand zero chance against him. Realizing that they were coming up to their destination, Alaric decided to shelve that thought for later.
In front of Alaric stood a three-story tall building that was white in color and seemed to be almost leaning to one side.
on top of the doorway was a sign reading [Gringotts Bank]
Alaric, Theodoric, and Sofia soon quickly walked through the doors and into the entry corridor where two goblin guards stood at the ready for anyone mad enough to try to rob Gringotts.
one thing he took notice of was a poem of sorts that had the intention of warning all those who enter Gringotts
Enter, stranger, but take heed
Of what awaits the sin of greed,
For those who take, but do not earn,
Must pay most dearly in their turn,
So if you seek beneath our floors
A treasure that was never yours,
Thief, you have been warned, beware
Of finding more than treasure there.
"Goblins, never really liked them." Alaric quietly said to himself
Throughout his lives, Alaric had encountered and fought many goblins, it was almost a weekly tradition that some goblin uprising or incursion had unfolded back before the establishment of Gringotts.
Although he didn't hate the species as a whole, he still wasn't all that fond of them.
Entering the main chamber of the bank, Theodoric swiftly approached one of the bank tellers.
"Ahem, I would like to activate my grandson's trust vault and withdraw from it," Theodoric said to the goblin in a stern and even tone
"Tch, Lord Reinhardt I presume?" the goblin said with slight venom in his voice after recognizing the hair and eye color
"Hmm, why does it seem the goblins don't appreciate our presence here?" Alaric asked with curiosity as to his knowledge they hadn't done anything to warrant such treatment
"well Alaric, it's because they are still sore over us withdrawing most of our Galleons back during my grandfather's time," Theodoric answered
"Ah, I see."
hearing the short dialogue between the two, the goblin teller could only grumble in displeasure over having to deal with the family who singlehandedly withdrew the largest amount of gold ever in records, sure they still left around a million in total, but that is nothing to their overall fortune, something the goblins could only salivate when thinking of.
"Grrr, right this way." the goblin said curtly as he hopped down from his raised desk and started walking toward the carts that would take them to the vault
'Did this goblin just... growl at us' was all the three Reinhardts could think before they started to move to catch up to the pint-sized creature
--later outside of Gringotts--
"That damn goblin doesn't know just how close he came to being electrocuted to death, I was so close to dropping a lightning bolt on his ugly head," Alaric said with obvious displeasure at the service they were offered
"I know how you feel Alaric, but like it or not, we can't do anything to them on their home turf, besides, if the little buggers are good for anything, it's securing valuables," Theodoric said with a sigh toward his grandson
with that being said, the group started walking their way down Diagon Alley again and they stopped at multiple stores where they would pick up all of the items Alaric and Sofia needed for their time at Hogwarts this year.
As they were chatting while walking up to Olivanders, their last stop, a boy with dark messy hair, a pair of round glasses, and glowing green eyes walked out of the shop while accompanied by Sirius.
'Huh, well if it isn't the Brat-Who-Lived.' Alaric thought
Usually, Alaric wouldn't care enough to call someone a brat but harry potter had a not-so-special spot in his heart, and that was Alaric did not like the little bugger.
In this world, although his parents were both killed, Harry was immediately sent into the custody of his godfather, Sirius Black, from there he moved into the old Potter manor along with baby Harry and had been "raising" him, along with Remus Lupin who would drop by and take care of the boy when Sirius was occupied at work, Osric would even visit some but not as much as the other two.
One thing that surprised Alaric when he came to know of it was beside the three marauders, there was someone else who would every once in a while drop by and visit with his family, that person being one Regulus Black, accompanied by his son Aurelius Black and his wife a Priscila, a muggle-born witch who he fell in love with at Hogwarts.
Apparently, in this timeline, Regulus had his pure-blooded beliefs crushed when a crush for a Ravenclaw muggle born had bloomed in his 3rd year and it kept growing until he was so disillusioned with his parents and Voldemort that he was approached by Dumbledore and tasked with being a spy.
Regulus at first was hesitant but he eventually accepted Dumbledore's offer, he would act as a spy for less than a year before he found out about the locket Horcrux and he grabbed it and ran.
He reached Dumbledore and relayed what he had found and the two of them hid the item, the only people they told of its existence were the closest circle members of the group, and the only reason Alaric knew this was because of the legilimency he cast upon Regulus when he had first met the man during a brief visit to the potter manor with Osric, it was this same visit that he came to be annoyed by harry.
So not only was Regulus Black alive and well, but he was also the head of the House of Black, something Sirius was all too happy to hand over, and Dumbledore now knows about Voldemort's Horcruxes years in advance, up until now however the old man had been unsuccessful in finding any more of them, they also haven't been able to find a way to destroy one but he is still looking.
This brings us back to the issue at hand, harry potter, a no-good prankster, and brat who learned from some of the greatest pranksters Hogwarts had ever seen.
It would be foolish to think that a harry potter who was raised by the likes of Sirius, Remus, and their other marauder friend Osric wasn't going to turn out just like them.
And on top of that, the boy was raised well aware of his fame and "glory" that he didn't even really deserve, it wasn't him who bounced the killing curse off of himself back to Voldemort, it was his mother's sacrifice, and resulting ritual that did the dirty work, in Alaric's mind, Lily Potter was the true hero of the story, it's a tragedy she had to die to become one though.
As Alaric was thinking about everything he knew about the boy going off of his very few encounters and other things he's learned, Sirius noticed the approaching group and greeted them with a smile and a wave.
"Ah, if it isn't the most gloriest and splendid Reinhardts," Sirius said in an exaggerated tone while mock bowing with a cheeky smile on his face
"Oh put a bloody sock in it mutt," Alaric responded with an amused smile
"Didn't I tell you to stop calling me mutt ages ago!" Sirius said with a raised voice but still in good fun as he tried and failed to ruffle Alaric's hair
to get away from the man-child who was trying to mess with his pristine hair, Alaric simply used a movement spell that he has utilized over many lives, it was called [Celeri]. (Pretty much just a swift dash from Hogwarts Legacy)
"Haha! you little bugger, I'll get you one day I swear it." Sirius said with a laugh
"When that day comes I'll just send a stinger hex at you," Alaric responded with a shrug
"So Harry, it seems like you got your first wand huh, how's it treating you?"
"Oh it's awesome, I can't wait to get to Hogwarts and try it out in a more in-depth manner!" Harry excitedly said
"That's all well and good, but remember Harry, the second you try to prank me like your terrible influence of a godfather, I will retaliate and embarrass you," Alaric said with a smirk, he was already thinking of the many things he could do to repay the boy for any attempted shenanigans
"your on!" Harry said with a competitive smile
"Uh Harry, your not going to defend me? He did just call me a terrible influence." Sirius pointed out
"I mean, was he wrong?" Harry said with a small head tilt and a smirk
All Sirius could do was feign heartbreak as he held his "wounded" heart and looked at the boy with shock.
"Oh James, it seems your son hates me to this day," Sirius said to himself while whipping a fake tear
*crack*
"Man up yuh scraggly mutt."
with the telltale sign of someone apparating, Osric had appeared in front of the group and joined them.
"C'mere yuh bastard!" and with that being said the two idiots started roughhousing like a bunch of children until Theodoric sent two immobulus at them.
"Ignoring those two, I think it's time we get your wand right Alaric?"
"Sure, and I'm guessing that's why Uncle Osric is here?" Alaric asked as he was surprised the man had even shown up due to him being swamped with work, especially after Sirius had dumped his workload on him just to escape to take Harry out shopping. "Yes, he is here to see what kind of wand you get due to his curiosity," Theodoric replied
With their conversation finished, Alaric led the group into the building, and like clockwork, Olivander jumped out from the shadows and managed to scare Harry and Sofia.
"Gah! Bloody hell, how did he get me I was just in here!" Harry said with a Yelp
"I'll never get used to that," Sofia said with a shiver
"Mr. Potter, what brings you back into my shop so soon, this might even be a new record, a whole two minutes and you've already come back," Olivander said
"Actually, he just came in here to see what kind of wand I get sir," Alaric said with a modicum of respect for the old wand lore genius. Even though he had known many wand makers in his different lives, Alaric had to admit that Olivander was bar none, and that was only after he deduced the quality of the wands with a quick glance as they walked in.
"Ah! Mr. Reinhardt, it seems it is time for you to get a wand, but wait, is that, yes I think it is, how exquisite, do you mind if I examine it?" Olivander said while referring to the ring foci Alaric was wearing.
Knowing that the man would never try something with the ring, especially with the lineup that was in the shop with them, Alaric decided to let the man see the ring. "Of course sir, here you are."
"Hmm, pure platinum saturated in the essence of a thunderbirds tail feather, and a magic gem core that was doubly saturated by the essence of a thunderbird itself, how marvelous, my dear boy, I dare say that coupled with a wand, this ring may just amplify your magic to scary heights in the near future," Olivander said as he closely examined the ring's every nook and cranny
'you have no idea.' Was all Alaric thought before the eccentric old man started exploring the store trying to find a wand for the boy after he handed back the ring.
