2 .The boy who will vanquish the dark lord

Flashback (31st July 1980 )

It's about 5 p.m. situation seems nervous in the Potter Mansion . Lily is in pain yet enduring ,outside the closed door James seems even nervous than Lily, even Sirius, Lupin seems anxious but Peter Petegrew's eyes were like that of a mad man scheming devilish plans despite overwhelming malice appearing on Peter the rest seems unaware due to tension.

"The dark lord must be informed he will reward me with power and riches. And I Peter will soon surpass these arrogant bastards James and Sirius "- Peter

After a scream Lily gave natural delivery to a Boy with black hair and his eyes were just like her. Healer from St.Mungos assisted the delivery gave the child in her arm to the mother. Lily took the child in her arms , tears of joy appeared in the eyes of Lily and then she kissed the child on foreheads. James and Sirius were hugging each other after hearing safe birth given by Lily , behind James Lupin is patting James' back ,even Peter was congratulating James which seemed genuine as if he never had any malice towards them. Now James took the boy in his arm and admiring him.

"Look James he's like you and he has Lily's eyes. "

- Sirius spoke excitedly while stroking head of his godson who is in arms of James

"Of course he's my boy. He will be the future quidditch player just like after all my blood flows in him"- James

"Cough cough… James he's just born let him grow on his own. There's a long way to go let's see."

- Lupin

"What will be his name?" - Sirius enthusiastically asked

"He will be called Harry James Potter "- Lily

Peter took the child in his arms but suddenly the baby started crying loudly as if the baby could sense Peter's malice at the same time even Crookshanks shrieking at Peter as if to demand leaving the baby alone. Even Peter looks dumbfounded. But, the rest thought "he's just a newborn , there's nothing wrong with crying. "

Peter gave back the child to Lily. After giving back the baby, the ginger cat clawed at the legs of Peter and he felt sharp pain as bloody claw marks seared in his skin. James and Sirius found it amusing but Lupin is reaching out for Peter.

"Now I remember our worm tail has been chased for hours by Crookshanks when he was in his mouse form. Perhaps Crookshanks still see a mouse before his eyes and couldn't help but play with a claw" - Sirius

James was laughing with Sirius but with Stern look from Lily and Lupin both become deadly quiet and trying to leave mother and child to give them space for bonding. At that moment , a sound from the hall of mansion.

Near the fireplace green smoke lifted revealing old robed mage Albus Dumbledore. He has been visiting Potter's house and Longbottoms house very frequent these days to ensure dark lord doesn't make his moves on them. Albus was greeted gladly by the Potters and the rest but Peter was having thoughts. Albus noticed this but didn't bother. Albus has been long suspecting both Peter and Sirius but remained quiet not to make James uneasy. Albus took the baby in his arms and said jokingly "hope we don't have another troublemaker at school , I am sure Lily would keep an eye on him"

James and Sirius glanced at each other playfully as if they are scheming future plans to teach the boy their legendary skills and experience. Lily knew James well and she gave him a cold look and James knew he is caught at the scene. Now Albus was alone with Lily, Albus was convincing Lily to move away to avoid dark lords persecution by stating the prophecy and imminent danger for child. Lily shown a grim expression she wasn't prepared for this , it's fine if it's her life but she can't let her son die. She was agreed to move to Godrics hallow and also agreed to proposal of Albus to make fidelius charm to new house in Godrics hallow. To discuss the secret keeper Albus conversed with James and Lily alone and James suggested Sirius as the suitable one , Albus can only sigh now , no matter what James is stubborn as rock he won't change his decision .

But, James was quite reluctant to depart Potter mansion with all his childhood memories with his parents and Sirius. For a while James decide to stay at Potter Mansion as he wanted his son to make first memories in same place as he did.

After Albus departed only James and Lily were remaining with their son and James is showing the snitch to the boy and Harry is extending his tiny hand to catch the snitch and joyful innocent smile appeared on Harry .

Malfoy Manor(31st July 1980) 8pm

It's been 7 months since Dark lord heard the prophecy. He's been anxious yet not showing it to his followers. He felt like he has been waiting forever to kill his nemesis. Around him in the king table death eaters were dining in and suggesting nefarious plans and describing sadistic pleasure from their diabolical deeds with pride and Voldemort seems to recognize them and even encourage them for more. Right side of the dark lord seems empty as Snape is absent while mad witch Bellatrix on left side. At that moment a dwarf figure appeared and as soon as he appeared bickering death eaters enthusiastically greeted the figure with sarcastic remark but the dwarf seems rather too confident. This attitude of dwarf made death eaters irritated but Voldemort found this astonishing from the dwarf as the dwarf doesn't seem humble in front of his servants. For long dark lord dissatisfied with Wormtail as his intel was lacking since Peter was too scared as Dumbledore started being suspicious. Wormtail actively expressed his desire to join dark lord even before joining the order in return for power and wisdom from dark lord. Now seeing the smug behavior of Peter , dark lord thought some big news is coming. Peter who was smug at dark lord's servants humbled himself in front of dark lord as he kneeled before him and wisphered what happened at Potter's home and dark lord seems to be intently listening which made rest of death eaters quite uneasy as mouse would go over their ranks. Just after Mouse finished , Yaxly come before dark lord and declared birth of Neville the same day as Harry. Now dark lord must mark who should be his enemy, dark lord was in a daze but he's sure that Harry Potter would be the child mentioned in prophecy since Harry also same halfblood like him. Only half blood could be a threat in the future and he's also aware how hateful the Potters are than Longbottoms. Dark lord has made up his mind and decided to kill Harry Potter. Dark lord declared that no one must kill Potters but he alone must kill them and he expressed his agenda to fellow death eaters. Unconcealed Mad glint appeared on eyes of Peter he also seems to be in euphoria. Peter is waiting for his reward excitedly.

"Wormtail you've proved your worth at last. Despite, your cowardice you've shown me real deeds this time. You've seeked me for power and I recognized it. Now I shall reward you with one of my dark magic expertise for your deed"- Voldemort

Then Wormtail was alone with dark lord. Dark lord was teaching Wormtail a forbidden spell which could be casted by sacrificing part of his own body or victims body to cast an area effect killing spell. To demonstrate the spell Darklord was using a trembling muggle middle aged man whose drenched in cold sweat and peed in his pant in horror. Initially dark lord sacrificed the man's finger to cast a spell of area effect to kill five muggles chained in cages. Peter was madly learning what the dark lord has been teaching. After demonstrations dark lord left Peter to his own devices by letting him practice on caged muggles.

After leaving Peter , dark lord met with Snape alone on his chamber while Nagini was hissing. Dark lord told about the child that he's about to kill and also heard accounts of reports from Snape. Snape was shocked inside when he heard Lily's child is the prophesized one. He knew that dark lord going to kill them all. But , Lily shouldn't die, she was the love of his life, even if she's far away as long as she still breathe he can live on. If James die it's best, but Lily must live.

"My Lord it's presumptuous of me to ask this. As your servant I have only one request please spare Lily's life alone" -Severus

" Ah Severus you still didn't get over that muggle woman. Uhm, since you're my most faithful servant I shall spare her life but the child will be killed. She'll have no choice she'll accept you Snape. This shall be my reward for your allegiance "

- Voldemort

" Thank you my lord for your mercy "

- Snape

5th February

Hogwarts School of Wizardry and Witchcrafts

A long black robes young man was cornered by Dumbledore near the bridge.

" Severus do you believe that I don't know whom you work for. You're not essentially a bad person , you're confused. I have seen you all these times, a young excellent potions prodigy and was a good friend of Lily despite her being muggle. I and you both knew that the dark lord knew the prophecy already. Do you really wish to see your first love die along her son? You will attain nothing Severus, even the love in your heart will be lost forever . It's not late to switch your side and there's no power greater than love and with us love continues to exist . Lily may have avoided you later but she always cared for you. It's time to make your choice " - Dumbledore

" It seems obvious the dark lord made the new born Potter as his enemy. He will kill the boy but he promised to spare Lily. He promised me Dumbledore. None escapes from the list of dark lord unless the dark lord has the mercy to let go. You don't understand how difficult for me to plead the dark lord to let go of Lily. " - Snape

" Do you think a mother will save her own skin while letting her child killed? Of all people do you believe Lily would sacrifice her child while she's alive. I have seen how deeply Lily attached with the boy. Lily will die before her child falls and dark lord wouldn't care about promises as long as he attains his goals. Severus only your choice would change the course of this war. Will you spy on dark lord to protect Lily? " - Albus

" I will do as long as she still lives" - Snape

25th October 1981

Several months passed since birth of Harry, Potters were escorted to Godrics hallow by Dumbledore with Sirius,Lupin and Peter. So far Voldemort's plan to kill Harry been delayed as Barry Crouch Sr. was so ruthless and executed death eaters with unforgivable curses. It's more than a year already since Harry born but the dark lord was kept at bay by both Dumbledore and Crouch constantly . For dark lord as long as child Potter doesn't become adult full fledge wizard , he can still kill him without any hassle. Voldemort can't be kept at bay forever so Dumbledore strictly told the Potters to choose secret keeper quickly and place fidelius charm as soon as possible before night and left them. Sirius gave up the idea of him being secret keeper as he thought it's risky as it's well apparent to anyone that James trust Sirius the most, so Voldemort would think it's Sirius. Sirius seems quite suspicious of Lupin , so he suggested weak Peter who was clingy to them as secret keeper as Voldemort never even consider Peter once as a secret keeper. Even James and Lily thought it's a reliable plan and they successfully casted fidelius charm in their new residence with Peter as secret keeper. Peter was also accompanying them in the house , helping household chores with James as they hoped Peter to be safe inside the house.

26th October 1981 Potters Homse , Goodric Hallow

In the backyard , a child was riding in toy broomstick and James was cheering happily and unconcealed pride apparent on his face seeing his son riding so well on toy broomstick, now all James could see is future seeker. The ginger cat seems to be chasing the broomstick playfully. Peter on corner side of backyard looks gloomy as days passed with Potters with no contact with dark lord.

Meanwhile, the bedroom looks messy as all kinds of books spread out in both floor and bed and Lily seems to be looking on ancient magic spell books with seriousness . Lily has been having this omnious feeling at the same time bad premonition.

She somehow feels her end is approaching and she started suspecting Peter but kept herself quiet as she was aware that James trust the rest three friends unconditionally. She always been aware of sneaky nature of Peter , in case she die , she can't let her just born child to die. She's been searching for ancient spells to counter the dark lord. After flipping through many books she found what she has been looking for. She knew that dark lord always underestimates his enemies and it was his fatal flaw , to grasp this fatal flaw Lily must use ancient spells related to love and blood as dark lord has always been ignorant of love. Even if she falls , she's determined to pull the dark lord into abyss with her to protect her son.

30th October 1981 Malfoy Manor

Peter spent few days with Potters as James strictly forbidden Peter to go out in case he got killed or worse captured after Peter was chosen as secret keeper not long ago . However, this time Peter was begging James to see his mother, despite James past as a bully he's not insensible

thus made his gravest blunder allowing Peter outside. Peter is in a hurry to meet the dark lord.

Dark lord has been waiting for further intel from Peter as he wasn't able to find Potters these days and more than a year has passed. He can see Dumbledore is making measures against him swiftly and even Albus could see Harry Potter will be his nemesis, that means his choice to kill Potter baby wasn't wrong as actions speak more than simple words. Even Sirius Black is less active as he couldn't capture him to interrogate Potters' whereabouts. It's been few months since, Dark lord sent Severus to spy on Dumbledore closely and asked him to convince the old man that he wanted to defect to the side of Order of phoenix as he believed he was being misled by the dark lord. At that moment in Dark lords chamber a knocking sound in door heard followed by squeaky sound

"Master I have come" - Wormtail

Anger is apparent in Dark lords face as he has been waiting forever for this mouse to come. Dark lord pointed his wand at mouse in the doorway and uttered " Crucio"

Peter was writhing in pain on the ground as he felt his bones were breaking. Then after torturing for a couple of minutes sheer pain inflicted upon Wormtail soothed the dark lords wrath.

"What have taken you this long Wormtail? Where are the Potters?" - Voldemort

"I have been entangled by James at their home. Now I have returned to master in a hurry to report the events that have transpired so far."- Peter

"Oh go on"- Voldemort

"Potters have left their mansion under the influence of Dumbledore. Now they have moved to Godric's hallow and the house is casted under fidelius charm" - Peter

" That senile old man…. Who's the secret keeper is it Sirius Black?"- Dark Lord

" It was originally supposed to be Sirius but I your servant has convinced Potters otherwise and now they have chosen me as their Secret keeper . "

-Peter

" Excellent Wormtail you've yet proved again as my servant. Well tell me where exactly the Potters are and show me the way. I will deal with the child for good." - Voldemort

Wormtail wisphered the whereabouts of Potter and willing to reveal the location of Potters. Now, he disaparated alongside his master and arrived outside the Godrics Hallow instead of directly barging in , in case Dumbledore get notified.
