The floating screen hovered before me as my eyes scanned the whole list. Some of the perks were expected, yet their description was a bit surprising. I hadn't even digested the fact that I would have to deal with Voldemort and the Horcrux, but even that piece of magic surprisingly had a few upsides as well.
Parselmouth I knew about, but the skill {soul search}, that now that I think about it, canon Harry was able to do something like this, just seems broken when combined with gamer powers.
'I just have to make sure to approach the connection after I learn Occlumency, though I wonder if that would be necessary with the Gamer's mind skill. Still, why is the skill Gamer's mind here but Gamer's body isn't.'
Before I could delve deeper into searching for more skills and spells, the door to Professor McGonagall's office opened. Both Hermione and Professor McGonagall walked out, while the transfiguration Professor had a stern face like always. Hermione was failing to suppress her smile as she walked over behind her.
"Shall we, Mr.Potter?" Professor McGonagall spoke, but her steps never faltered. It apparently wasn't a question that suited me just fine as I walked in step with Hermione. Since the brown-haired girl was busy in her own world, I also focused on the abilities available to me.
'Skill?' I tried and was rewarded with a different scene for my efforts; this one was far less exciting as it contained just two skills, the one I had unlocked a while ago and the other that was already mentioned in the perks.

'Interesting. I don't think canon Harry ever really used Parseltongue for casting; he likely was too afraid of trying such a thing out or thing work differently here...' I thought as we walked down the stairs; on the way, we met Professor Flitwick, and I tried very hard not to stare as he was carefully carrying a grumbling hat placed on a bright red cushion.
"We've missed the sorting..." Hermione spoke, a slight frown on her face.
That was all anyone said as we marched down the stairs and through the large doors to the Great Hall. Professor McGonagall simply strode off toward the head table as Hermione, and I walked over to the table on the far right. Red and Gold trim on the colors of everyone's robes wasn't the only indication, as two redhead twins laughed loudly and pointed to a rapidly expanding house member on the other end.
'Right, they have the map. Would it be too much to approach them about the map or maybe slip the words into a conversation with them...' I thought as I plopped down onto a seat next to Ron, who was looking at us curiously.
"What was all that about?" he muttered to me, but before I could answer, my attention shifted to the head table. Dumbledore was standing, a somber look on his face as he began his welcome speech, "Welcome! Welcome to another year at Hogwarts! I have a few things to say to you all, and as one of them is very serious, I think it best to get it out of the way before you become befuddled by our excellent feast...."
'I dunno why the stories said he presented himself like a Buffon; he looks pretty serious to me right now. Plus, there was no way someone who looked this old should have this much energy in their voice. Is that a charm?'
"As you will all be aware after their search of the Hogwarts Express, our school is presently hosting some of the dementors of Azkaban, who are here on Ministry of Magic business." He cleared his throat as the whole Great Hall collectively shuffled into their seats.
"They are stationed at every entrance to the school grounds," Dumbledore continued, "and while they are with us, I must make it plain that nobody is to leave school without permission. Dementors are not to be fooled by tricks or disguises -- or even Invisibility Cloaks," he added blandly his eyes briefly met mine. "It is not in the nature of a dementor to understand pleading or excuses. I therefore warn each and every one of you to give them no reason to harm you. I look to the prefects, and our new Head Boy and Girl, to make sure that no student runs afoul of the dementors," he said.
'Right... Since the soul suckers were attracted to Harry, likely due to the Horcrux in my forehead, I need to learn that charm too.'
"On a happier note," he continued, "I am pleased to welcome two new teachers to our ranks this year. First, Professor Lupin, who has kindly consented to fill the post of Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher." He spoke, and everyone turned to look at the man who I'm sure I can guilt trip into teaching me the Patronus.
'This is going to be a drag to learn due to Gamer's mind isn't it...'
