"What do you think Talia could be up to now?" I asked Maurice as we came out of our first class for the day.
"I have no idea." she said with her eyes glued to her phone like she could loose it any minute.
"Come on, could you at least call her, I can't since I'm not allowed to be with my phone." I urged her.
"Fine." she said then muttered something about if Talia was all I could talk about then dialled Talia's number.
It rang for about five minutes yet there was no response.
"Why isn't she answering?" I asked a bit worried.
"You do realize half as much as you do right?" she said then increased her pace leaving me behind.
"Hey, don't tell me your jealous." I chuckled as I caught up with her.
"Jealous? as if" she scoffed but reduced her pace.
"Fine you aren't, I want to get some food at the cafeteria, you coming?" I asked changing the subject although I was still worried about Talia a bit.
"Sure why not"
On the way to the cafeteria and at the cafeteria I felt like I was being watched I had even asked Maurice a few times if someone was following us and she said I was just being paranoid so I tried to get the feeling off my mind but when I got to the cafeteria and I still had the same feeling it made me even more worried.
"I can almost swear someone has been watching us." I told Maurice who was sipping an ice tea.
"Like I said there's no one following us." she stated.
I nodded and began eating my burger and fries without talking about it again but I was still a bit weary.
"I'll see you tomorrow then." Maurice said as she left the cafeteria. I still had a class by four while Maurice had no other classes for the day. I wasn't meant to have a class either but I had added Chemistry to my subjects.
"Right, see you later." I replied.
There wasn't anything much that happened for the rest of the day, well my first Chemistry class was sort of interesting. The course involved lots of chemical compositions that seemed interesting to learn about.
Dad came to pick me up by three in the afternoon, immediately after my Chemistry class.
"Hi dad." I greeted as I got into the car. "How was work today?" I asked when I didn't get a response from him. I knew we didn't have the best relationship but as much as I thought otherwise he was still my father so I wanted to make a relationship with him.
"Dad?" I called out to him again when he kept driving silently.
"Can't you keep quiet for one second?" he retorted in an annoyed voice.
Mom and dad were always partial when it involved George and I but they were never mean to me or irritated with me when I didn't do anything wrong to George. I wondered why dad was like this today did it have something to do with his job?
"If you say so." I muttered and kept quiet for the rest of the ride.
NATE'S POV
"Come on man hand over my ring." I requested.
Chris was my reincarnation so I couldn't hurt him or anything like that cause I would feel whatever I did to him and he knew that. When he found out that Bella was my mate he took my ring so I wouldn't be able to meet her during the day. I didn't know what he was thinking, I could always see her in the evening or at night, but that was still an annoying move.
"What ring?" he asked obviously playing dumb.
"not cool, I don't care what you think about Bella, she's my mate and that's final." I said in annoyance.
"I don't care what you think about her but you are not allowed to be with her mate or whatever." he said then went ran downstairs where his family was since he knew I won't be able to be around him when other people are there since it'd be too weird.
I fell back on the bed and began to think of the possible places he could have hidden the ring.
The daylight amulet was a ring made by my mom about two thousand years ago with the lapis lazuli gemstone to help my siblings and I go under the sun. Alexia learnt how to make it from a spells book mom had written before she died. With the instructions from the book Alexia was able to replicate the ring and gave them to vampires who earned them.
The annoying part of it all was that I couldn't tell Alexia anything about it which meant I was stuck in New Orleans with no mission which also meant Alexia would want to know why.
I sighed, stood up and left, stopping by Bella's house to get a whiff of her scent and a peek at her sleeping figure before going back to my apartment.
Bella's POV
Wednesday seemed normal, well as normal as New Orleans had been since I got here, Rose and her team giving me a stink eye all day and an occasional smirk like I was right where they wanted me. Although I tried to avoid Chris all day I still saw him once or twice in the hallways.
Maurice didn't say a word about my encounter with Chris, I believed it was either she was trying not to talk about it so I won't remember it or she just couldn't care less.
"So how are you enjoying chemistry class so far?" Maurice asked as we walked towards the library.
We had a human biology project that we needed to research that was due tomorrow so we had to get it done before the library closed. It was five in the evening and the library closed by half past six.
"It's been quite fascinating, it's a great course." I replied as we got to the library doors.
We greeted the library attendant then headed to the shelf that had human biology textbooks and notes on it, we were quite fast so we finished the work before six.
"Hi mom." I waved as I saw her waiting at the gate. Maurice and I had come out together so I introduced her.
"Hi Mrs. Andrews." She greeted.
"Nice to meet you," mom said "Let's go." she said to me when she noticed I hadn't entered the car.
"Your mom seems cool." Maurice said the moment she saw moment she saw me the next day.
"And I seem to be the only one who doesn't believe that my parents are cool." I sighed like it was a big deal.
"Haha." Maurice said. "By the way I'm having a freshers party tonight wanna come?"
"Grounded remember?" I said pointing at myself.
"Oh yeah that's true bummer." She said then increased her pace and went into her class.
I didn't understand if she was mad at me for being grounded or mad at the fact that I couldn't come to her first party, I decided to believe the latter though.
