Third Person POV
+
When the mission ended, Emma left her grandfather's palace and headed home after she entrusted Sam and Puerto to escort her stepmother back to her hotel.
She was sure the woman won't utter a beep of what happened to anyone because she would be busy trying to get over the fact that her son just died in front of her in the most horrendous way possible and she couldn't move a finger to prevent it from happening or at least lessening the pain he was exposed to.
The reason Emma spared Mila's life was not out of pity or anything of such, it was purely because she wasn't done with her yet. Her torture just started and she was planning on prolonging it for a very long time.
Just like Milan prolonged Emma's mother torture.
When Emma reached home, Adam was already there with Jeff in the living room. He stood up when he saw her and met her halfway.
Emma could tell by the look on her husband face that she has a lot to explain.
She went to him and hugged him. "I'll explain everything later at your office." She whispered in his ear before pecking him slightly on the corner of his cheek, right under his ear.
Adam nodded as he kissed her head softly.
"Has Ela reached?" She asked him after she broke the hug.
"Yeah, Jeff just came from the safe house he left her in with Jürgen and Müller." Adam replied.
"Good, I'll go take a shower and change then I'll meet you upstairs in your office." Emma said as she headed towards the stairs.
"Honey?" Adam called.
"Yes?" She halted and turned to look at him.
"Someone's here to meet you." He informed.
"Someone who?" She asked raising one of her eyebrows when she saw the uncomfortableness he tried to hid with his indifferent expression.
"David." He stated, casually.
"You mean the David that I know?" Her eyebrow kept raised.
"Yes, David Sampson." He confirmed.
Emma scoffed. "He's here? In our house?"
"Yes, Emma, he's in the guests' living room." Adam said, a bit annoyed with her obvious questions.
"Okay." She said before she resumed her walk to the stairs.
"You do know that the guests' living room is in the other way." Adam said, pointing his finger at the far corner of the house.
"I know where it is, Adam." She said without as she climbed the stairs.
"And?"
"Let him wait, he came without an appointment after all." She said.
"Emma-"
"After I finish whatever that is on my schedule for the day, I'll see if I have time left to meet him if not he can always grab an appointment and come another time." She said cutting him off.
"Emma, you know his reasons, can you not give him a leeway." Adam said from the bottom of the stairs, halting her just as she was about to disappear upstairs.
"A leeway, you say?" She questioned, turning around so that she was looking at him. "I'll have to see about that, for now, I just want to take a shower and change into some comfortable clothes." She seemed as if she wanted to say something but changed her mind in the last minute.
Adam shook his head lightly as he watched her resuming her walk to their room.

"Where's Giuseppe? I haven't seen him all day." Emma asked as she entered her husband's office a couple of hours later.
"He's at the company, he may not return in time for dinner." He replied.
"Why? Is something wrong?" She asked as she leaned on his desk.
Adam pushed his table back a little before he took her hand and pulled her towards him so that she was sitting on his lap. "Nothing's wrong, there's a new project he's working on so he may not be home these days." He said as he nestled his head in the crook of her neck.
Emma hummed before she leaned into him some more and closed her eyes somewhat tired.
"Are you okay, honey?" Adam asked as he heard her tired sigh.
"I am, just a bit tired, all these events coming at once took their toll on me." She said.
"Do you want to rest first, we can always discuss things any other time." He offered.
"Nah, it's not that severe." She said.
There was a while of comfortable silence before Emma broke it.
"What do you want to know?" She asked her husband.
"Why did you change the plan and revealed yourself and Greta earlier than planned?" He asked her.
"I established that plan before Rob visited me and revealed the last part of the puzzle to me." She replied. "The reason I planted moles on their side was not because I wanted to know their movements nor was it because I didn't know who they were." She added.
"It was because of your father, wasn't it?" He asked.
Emma nodded in confirmation before she vocalised it. "Yes, I wanted to know if my father was involved in this and if so, how much he was involved. However since Rob told me the missing part of the story, I decided to take a different detour." She said.
"But you could've done it without exposing Greta since you may need her in there when the real thing starts." Adam argued.
"Müller once told me that I barely ever dirtied my hands, it was always The Crawlers who handled my dirty laundry. Unless, of course, that old geezer, Papa was involved." She said.
"And you wanted it to stay that way." He said.
"I don't know how I was in the past, but this A.L does dislike getting my hands dirty with minions. I like sparing my stamina to the real thing." She said. "But that's not the only reason, Greta was already in danger before I even got to know the whole truth about my father which is why I pulled her out. I tried to keep her safe in one of our safe houses after I faked her death until this whole thing ends, but she insisted to be the one to kill him with her own hands." She added explaining.
"Why?" Adam questioned. "She must've known that by doing this she would've exposed herself to more danger, especially since Mila saw her killing her one and only son, it's only a matter of time before they come hunting for her."
"She knew of all the risks she may face in the future, but she still insisted. She loves our little daughter immensely despite how naughty Ela can be and the fact that she's always at the receiving end of our little one pranks, Greta didn't hesitate for one minute before she agreed to go undercover when she knew they were targeting Ela. That's something I can never pay her back for even if I have her all of my fortune." Emma said, her tone indicated how touched she still was of the woman gesture.
Adam knew his wife was right, loyalty is a rarity in their world. People in the underworld no matter what their ranks are, are always ready to abandon you at the first chance they get if it proved to be gainful for them. So for The Protectors and The Crawlers to be all this faithful and sincere towards them is something they should be thankful for.
"So when she knew of my change of plans, she contacted me saying she wanted to be the one to put an end to Ben's life. She even proposed the idea of burning him the same way he thought Müller did to Ela. She hated how over the moon he was when he watched the video on the news that time, she said she wanted him and his mother to feel the same feeling they thought I felt as I watched my daughter being burned." Emma continued. "She also wanted to pay him back for planning on killing her and the new friend she got while she was on their side." She added.
"She's one admirable woman." Adam admitted.
"She is." Emma agreed. "And I'd be damned if I sat back and watched as they target get without doing anything." She added.
"You do know that me and The Protecters are always by your side, right?" Adam asked.
"I do." Emma confirmed. "Come let's go see why my old man finally decided to pay us a visit." She said as she stood up from his lap and pecked his lips softly.
"We better." He said, standing up himself.
