Gear up because it's literal Hell on Earth. [ Author here! If you guys are enjoying the series, please feel free to vote for this work with your powerstones and tickets! This will allow me to publish even more chapters, do special events, and let me know you guys are enjoying it! Also, there is more of a stat involved part of the system that has been introduced in the later chapters(63). Experience isn't visibly tracked until this point - up until then it is still gathered and slayers do grow slightly stronger from fights, but there's no way of knowing how much has been gained until the chapter it's introduced.]

What it Means to be a Freelancer

*Some time ago - when Iris became a contracted slayer*

Iris sat alone on the edge of her bed, holding a brand new contracted slayer cloak in her hands. She looked at it with a bit of apprehensiveness as she clenched it tightly in her hands and chucked it against the wall.

"What am I even thinking right now?!" She shouted.

She grabbed the mattress and flung it off the bed frame and began pummeling the frame itself until it completely caved in on itself. Nothing was safe from her fury as she then grabbed a small lamp next to her bed and slammed it into the full size mirror that hung on the wall.

She looked into the broken mirror and saw a fractured reflection of herself. As she stared at herself her anger seemed to quell itself.

"Who...am I right now?" She said softly.
