"Thanks for having my back there, Kyutie. Meant a lot. Honestly didn't think you'd stand up for me," I say.
Kyutie has her back turned to me. Her hair falling straight down as she searches for a good book to read. We've been in this library for a while. I'd say probably about 4 hours now.
"Ah... No problem. That's what friends are for, correct?" She asked.
The library was almost completely dark. The librarian wasn't in here today, so the library was open nearly all night. and giving tomorrow was Monday, we didn't need to go to sleep for any classes the next day.
"Care for practicing tomorrow?" Kyutie asked.
I give a little shrug before curling my lips just a bit. "Nah. Tomorrow I'd be relaxing. Today or, yesterday." I correct myself. "Was pretty tiring and boring. Don't know how Jason and his goons expect to get far in the competition if they could barely get us to go 5 percent," I say. Kyutie laughed in return.
"I was thinking the same thing not too long ago. Like, he's over here trying and we're just messing around with him," Kyutie smiles.
I smile at her.
I hadn't seen her smile like this in a long time. In fact, the first time I have seen her smile like this was when we were jogging or racing for the first time. She seemed happy to have someone that she could actually have a competition with.
"How long did you say you were here?" I ask.
Kyutie grabbed a book and sat on the ground, leaning against the giant bookshelf. "Uhh. I forgot, hehe," she says.
I smile and sit across from her.
My forearms resting on my knees as I look at her rumble through the pages of the hard-cover book. "I've never bonded with someone as cool as you. We really vibe. I mean, I'm glad you're with me. And I hope you find a happy ending with the time comes for you to move on from this academy," I smile.
Kyutie looks up at me.
"Yeah... if I leave, there'd be nowhere for me to go," Kyutie says in return.
I told my head at the comment.
"What?"
"There's be nowhere for me to go. My life background is lot different from everyone else's here. Me and Mente's. We're not the same..." Kyutie says.
I just look at her. Using my right hand, I slide my hair behind my ears and go back to the position I was in.
Kyutie sighed and sat the book down next to her.
"These gifts the Gods have given us aren't for play. They're to protect the people of this planet, the people of this universe. All of us have these special powers for a reason, whether it's good or bad. We don't know. Only from the actions we take. Mann... I come from a long line good and evil. I've done things way before you were born. I've seen wars and Gods go down quicker than I could run. Including me outrunning Death itself to save someone who was meant to die. So don't waste your life hiding your powers or being angry that you can't find someone stronger than you. You'll just sit here and get weaker. Train, become stronger. Because there is ALWAYS someone stronger than you in the universe. Always," Kyutie speaks.
I swallow and look down. I could see my reflection briefly in the waxed, tile floor.
"What about Mente? People mention that you and her had some beef recently. Well, in the past. Can I ask what was going on?" I ask.
Kyutie shrugged.
"Me and her have known each other since we were 3 years old. Over there years, she could beat me in fights, I could beat her, she beats me, I beat her. It went on over and over. Mente got tired of it and made a deal with the Devil. Did something no God was supposed to. She was considered a demon to the people above. I took her place as the daughter of Jesus. When she found out, she got mad. Tried to kill me. I won and ever since that day, she trained hard. Very very hard until she dethroned me again. We were forced to live on Earth and the only place is the academy for (demigods) AKA, you guys. I can't tell you anymore and I skipped some parts so it may be confusing but, just know we have a very strange background." Kyutie answered. I nod.
"I was raised in New York. A city boy. Wanting more clothes and food. Going back and forth to school with the little kid's Star Wars backpack on. Nothing really special about me, haha," I laugh.
"HAHA! Star Wars?" Kyutie laughed.
I smile.
"You're cute when you smile," I say.
Kyutie shakes her head and turns the other way, covering her red face ash's slightly shakes her head.
"No. I'm not."
I nod.
"You are."
"Still awake? I would've thought you two went to sleep already." Kyutie and I both turned to the left to see Mezy standing there.
Not too far behind him was Chihiro.
"Probably out doing the same thing we were," she says.
Kyutie and I squint our eyes.
"Just passing through," Mezy says.
Me and Kyutie move our legs from out of the way as they both pass by holding hands by the fingers. Mezy leading the way as Chihiro held a book in her hand that trailed behind her.
"Out of the three months here, I'm glad I found a good friend like you," I smile.
Kyutie nods.
"Me too. Except with longer years," she adds with a smile. We both begin to laugh as we could hear the rain hit the top of the waterline that was near the giant window that was to the right of us.
"Is it me or are those two always doing something dirty?" Kyutie leaned in.
I shake my head.
"Nah. They just be chillin. Mezy tells me everything in the dorm."
"SO THAT'S WHAT GUYS DO IN THE DORMS? SNITCH!"
I laugh.
"NO! We just be playin' around!"
"You just gave away what guys say in the dorms now." Kyutie laughs.
"Shut the fuck up!" I laugh.
We both crack jokes.
