[Heizou's POV]
"Doushin Shikanoin, can I count on you to handle this?"
"You can count on me, Madame Kujou"
"I expect good news. Report to me through the letter if you have any findings in your investigation"
"Very well, if you'll excuse me" I formally bowed at General Kujou before I walked out of her office and left the station.
As I went out, I spot a certain h/c-haired maiden waiting by the bridge. I softly smiled and approached her quietly, trying to sneak behind her then immediately covered her eyes.
"Guess who?"
She hummed as her eyes were being covered. "Sturdy hands but a delicate touch and a playful voice. Could it be.... Thoma?"
"I-" I was taken aback by her answer and pouted. "Wrong!"
She let out a light chuckle then turned around to face me. "Just kidding~"
"How mean of you, y/n" I pouted.
She then pecked my lips which broke my pout into a smiled then I wrapped my arms around her waist. "How was the meeting with the general?"
"Well... You could say that she ordered me a very important task"
"Hm? And what that might be?"
I gave a close-eyed smile. "We are heading to Sumeru to consult with a researcher there about the poison and hopefully we would gather some findings that will help in making the remedy"
She blinked for a moment. "..We?"
"You're coming along, of course. You seriously didn't think that I would leave you behind this time, did you? I would never abandon my own beloved by herself, especially that this operation might take months. You'll be deprived of my presence and might even find another while I'm away" I dramatically sighed.
She gave her usual deadpanned reaction, in which I honestly find adorable.
"I'm surprised that you're letting me go on an operation overseas this time"
"Because I'm around to look after you" I winked then let go of her.
"Well what do you say, Detective y/n? Care to assist me in this case?" I reached my hand out to her.
She looked at me for a moment then her expression turned into determination. She gave a nod before she slowly accepted my hand.
"Let's move before the trail goes cold"
