Chap 7

"Young master, in 10 more days you will be back at the academy, are you sure you want to be in your room, doing I don't know what?".

I was asked by Maya, my maid from whom I learned her name a few days ago.

It has been two weeks since I woke up as Adad and in that time I have been studying, discovering more about this world and myself.

I have dedicated myself to studying monsters, their behaviors, abilities, natural habitats, and weaknesses. It may seem like a waste of time, but even commoners know more than I do, as information is passed on by word of mouth.

Summarizing what I have learned, monsters or mana beasts are classified from G to l Ex, the latter being mythical beasts of which there are only a few recorded sightings.

Monsters are parthenogenetic, that is, they reproduce by themselves and do not need a mate. This can be done because they are mana maces that take form, the higher the rank of the monster the more intelligent it will be.

Monsters that are mana maces accumulate mana in their bodies that over time form a small core-like stone called a mana stone. The older a monster is, or the higher its rank, the higher the quality of the mana stone.

Some learn to control the mana their body is made of to change their form, most monsters that reach this level are called Dämonen and from what is known about them they have a society similar to humans and any other race.

"Young man, it's no good staying cooped up when for something like yours, it's better to go out and meet...."

Maya's silly whispers brought me out of my thoughts again. Making me reflect on what I had said earlier.

There were only 10 days left to go back to the academy, I wasn't practicing hand control much because only the theory described in the books wasn't enough and I decided to wait for the practical classes and learn how to use the instructor's mana.

But it didn't hurt to practice a little. Besides, I had to check a few things.

I took a look at the warehouse, which was full of different types of weapons, from axes to staffs with only a small glowing stone on the tip.

I picked up what caught my attention the most, along with a curved sword with a wooden tip of 1.20 cm, since my height was 5'6", it felt pretty good.

The sound of the sword cutting through the air pierced my ears as I swung it back and forth imagining it cutting something.

I felt that with each swing the mana in my body moved more easily to the places I wanted to strengthen.

I felt the mana in my body freeze. But for some reason, I didn't feel cold, but comfortable.

The air coming out of my mouth from the breaths was now visible along with the sword that was gradually freezing, showing me the effectiveness of Ice Heart.

Thanks to this I was able to test a theory that had been going around in my head these days. If when I awoke in this world, I became a child of mana I should be able to strengthen my body with it, something that no mage below A-rank could do.

A son of mana breaks the limitation our body exerts on mana and can both expel it and store it, using it to strengthen his body or to conjure spells.

According to the books, it was normal for a child of mana to have an innate ability. A clear example was the heroine who at this point in the story had at least one ability.

With a bit of fatigue upon my body, I released the sword from my hand as I sat down on the dirt floor. As I sat there I focused entirely on my mana core and proceeded to move my mana outward as I took in a bit of the atmosphere.

I imagined fire and a small orange ball appeared before me. It was hard to control, perhaps this was what affinity meant.

The same happened with the earth, of which I could do nothing but make small bullets and move them a few feet away from me.

Water and air moved with ease, especially water, and almost as an instinct lightning bolts were generated, but they turned a strange silver color like the ice I conjured.

Time flew by as I trained my mana control and Maya had come to remind me about the family dinner, which I thought was a good time to talk to Keith.

"I see you've been training with the sword since morning, it's good that even though you're a mage you train your body."

Elena spoke, cutting through the silence at the table. As the entire Hall family had gathered to eat.

"Father, I want to learn sword art."

I spoke without answering Elena had not yet realized I was a child of mana. Keith looked at me, I knew he had realized what I was.

"It is difficult to achieve a high-level art. It can only be achieved by becoming a disciple of some sword king."

Keith said, adding more confusion to the matter.

"What do you mean he would learn a sword art? He's a wizard."

Elena replied in confusion. Keith hadn't told anyone in the family that he was a son of mana. His brows furrowed and he seemed to think about whether or not he should reveal it.

"Adad is... a son of mana."

Everyone's faces, even the younger ones were filled with surprise and disbelief. But soon one face changed, Elena's, which was filled with sadness.
