Thankfully, the Kraken seemed to have gone for good and didn't come back even after they put on a new sail on the mast and set sail once again.
The crew of the Cinnamon Wind and the Red Archers looked at Arrluk with worship and awe as he walked by them on the deck. He tried giving a helping hand but everyone told him to rest and leave the rest to them.
With nothing else to do, he helped propel the ship by controlling the wind and increasing their speed by a few knots. He did it without hiding this time, which garnered a lot more goodwill from the people. Quhuru was ecstatic after knowing this ability to create wind
Some even got to their knees and prostrated in front of him, calling him the son of the Storm God or Lady Wind or other gods which they believed in.
Fortunately, they didn't do anything else as Quhuru ordered his crew not to disturb him and let him concentrate on the new responsibility which was to keep the ship moving.
Soon they managed to catch up to the slave ship that had left them behind after the Kraken's attack and they were very surprised to see the Cinnamon Wind come out alive.
What surprised them, even more, was the pieces of the two tentacles of the Kraken's body lying on the deck as proof of the sea monster's attack.
After some yelling and hard words for punishment, he forgave his subordinate who he had given the task of commanding the slave ship for leaving them. He didn't begrudge the men as he too would have done the same thing yet he had to keep his authority and give out some punishment as well as promise rewards for those brave souls who dared to attack the Kraken and come out alive.
As for the dead, they could only collect their bodies and stash them in a longboat as there were too many of them to keep on board until they reached the land. The longboat was put to torch with an arrow after it was released into the sea thus cremating the dead and preventing any plaque from appearing on the ship.
Finally, when Quhuru was deciding what to do with the Kraken's limbs, Arrluk came to see it up close.
They were trying to see if Kraken meat was edible to consume or not. If it was poisonous then storing it to use as a showpiece was the only option, if not then they could have a feast tonight and for the coming days until they reached their destination.
Just as Arrluk touched the surface of the tentacle where his wind blade had cut, something flew out of it and merged into him.
Arrluk became ecstatic when he found he could sacrifice just the arm of the sea monster and get rewards from the altar, so he went and touched the remaining two pieces before Quhuru ordered to store them away.
"I want to go and rest for the night, Captain" Arrluk asked Quhuru who said in turn that he didn't need to ask his permission and could do as willed on his ship. Arrluk found that Quhuru spoke to him now with greater respect than before and even went on to refer to him as Lord Magi. This was a title that was given to a practitioner of magic on their island and they were considered to have the same or greater status as the Nobles of the Summer Island.
Arrluk was happy with this newfound respect and status after revealing his powers as that would make his life much easier from now on. Maybe it would give him some challenges too but the benefits of equipping the title were too great for now.
. . .
After Arrluk came back to his room, he immediately checked on the rewards that the pieces of the Kraken had given him.
Bloodline of the lesser Kraken
Multiple Arms Spell
Kraken's Blade
Arrluk checked them out one by one to see, learning what benefited him the best.
The bloodline of the lesser Kraken provided him with the bloodline of the said beast though it wasn't anything magical other than giving him a chance at taming a small Kraken. The bloodline will improve his physical abilities to a certain extent, making it possible for him to drink salt water and there would be some unpleasant changes in his appearance as well.
Kraken's blade on the other hand was a magical Great Sword made from some kind of steel alloy and Kraken's brain matter and its blood fused together with a spell. It wasn't like the Valyrian sword. It was heavier and less sharp than the famed sword of Valyria. The only thing that caught his eye was that it could help in manipulating the water element to a certain extent if its wielder had magical abilities. But the buff was too small for him to consider choosing this option as he could manipulate water elements with the help of the water rune and the sword looked ugly as hell.
Arrluk looked at the last reward option which was the Multiple Arm spell which he found very interesting after reading its description. The spell was a neutral spell that didn't involve any element in its invoking other than the normal mana. The spell provided its user with extra arms and depending on the mana capacity, the user can grow up to six arms on their or anyone else's body for a period of time. He could even teach it to others if they had mana in their bodies.
In the end, Arrluk chose the spell as he didn't like the other two options.
After assimilating the new knowledge, Arrluk went ahead and tried it for the first time on himself. The incantation was in an unfamiliar language and long as well. It took him at least twenty seconds to say it out aloud but the effects were immediate and amazing.
With a quarter of his mana, Arrluk grew another set of arms just behind his shoulders that were exactly like his own. He wasn't uncomfortable at all and could use them just like his real ones.
