Chapter One

Fake life. False identity. What do these phrases mean to you? It doesn't have to do with social media pretense alone. Yes, most folks post versions of themselves online which totally differ from their reality, therefore one shouldn't believe everything they see online because people only display or show what they want you to see. But my situation is different. I live a fake life almost everyday. And no, I'm hardly active on social media. I live a fake life in real life. What exactly am I saying? Alright, let me put it in a less complicated way. Wherever I go, I always feel like I need to try to fit in, like I'm an outsider, like I don't belong... even in my own home. There's always a vacuum I feel inside me which seems like it can only be filled up by external validation. Basically, I live my life to please others... especially my parents who see me as a disappointment. Of course not, they've never said it out loud, but I can read people.
