Chapter Four

Athena paced up and down in the magnificent room designed for her. It's been two days and the king haven't sent for her, not that she was bothered about it what she was worried about right now was the fact that she hadn't seen her father, he hadn't visited her and Ryan told her not to send for him till at least two days passes, and here she was pacing up and down practicing the lines that Ryan had taught her. Someone knocked on her door.

"Miss" a middle aged woman said to be her personal maid greeted. Her name was Amelia bowed. "The Beta sends for you" Athena cleared her voice and was about to say the mantra she has been practicing over and over in her head when she heard the maid's last sentence, her eyes lit up instantly

"Really?" She ran down the staircase and when she realized that she didn't know any where here after her experience of losing her way no matter how many times she tries to find her way back. She quietly walked back to the maid.

" Please can you lead the way?" The maid smiled, she had never seen someone as naïve and innocent as the lady next to her. At first when she heard that the king was bringing home a bride and that she would be her personal maid she had thought that the lady would be someone as arrogant as the other ladies who had tried to seduce him but when she first saw Athena, the smile Athena gave her melted her instantly and she wondered when the king would announce her as the Luna of the pack.

" Then follow me miss" the maid replied and led the way. Athena cheerfully skipped behind the maid as she led her down the staircase, through the doors, past the vast garden and into a meeting room.

"He's inside here" the maid said. " I'll be waiting for you here incase if you need me"

Athena hummed happily and opened the door. Her smile froze when she saw the person inside

" You're not my dad" she pouted.

"Miss Athena or should I say your majesty" Beta Zico greeted. "Have a seat"

" I'm not your highness, I'm just Athena, why are you here?" She asked sitting down. Beta Zico smiled at her " I'm Beta Zico, the right hand man and uncle to the king" he introduced himself.

"I know" Athena murmured, still bummed that the person who came to see her wasn't her father, she didn't know why this old man whom her dad doesn't like came to see her.

"How did you know about me?" he asked.

She looked at him like he was asking her the silliest question she has ever heard. " Everyone knows you, you're the Beta of the pack"

"oh, I didn't expect you to know me judging from the way your family hides you away".

" Why are you here?" Athena asked again, she was already losing her patience, her dad was not the one that came so there was no need to keep on staying here, she wanted to go back to her room and read the books Amelia sneaked in for her, her face turned a shade of red when she remembered it.

" I just came to see the lady that caught the king's eye" the Beta said and stood up " since I've seen you, I'll take my leave" he was about to go when he stopped remembering something " Your father isn't around right now, he went out with the king to visit the neighboring pack. Then I'll see you next time, I'm sure we'll be bump into each other from time to time" he smiled at her but Athena preferred he didn't smile at her at all why did his smile look like he just ate poop. She almost told him to stop it that she didn't want to have nightmares.

" then let's greet each other when we meet again " she flashed him an angelic innocent smile. When he left she stopped smiling and her head began to spin.

"Amelia" she called.

" Yes Miss" Amelia came In and noticed Athena's pale face. She rushed towards her " what's wrong?"

" I don't know. It's that smell, what's that smell" Athena asked, she didn't understand what was happening to her. When the Beta passed her she had perceived a strange smell and she began to feel dizzy.

"what smell?" Amelia asked. She began to mindlink the royal doctor.

"Don't mindlink anyone I'm alright"

"But Miss you…"

" I'm fine , I'm really fine you don't have to do anything" Athena gave her a smile. "I just need to rest for a moment, why didn't you tell me it wasn't my dad that came. I was excited for nothing " she pouted.

"it was my mistake Miss" Amelia bowed.

Athena sighed " I'm not blaming you. Call me Athena, I've told you this several times but you don't even listen" With a humph she left the meeting room for her room.

Seconds later when Amelia left the meeting room, she met Athena walking to and fro

" What's wrong Miss?"

"I don't know the way back, can you take me back?"

Amelia laughed.

" Of course I will"

When Athena reached her room she began thinking of the smell on Beta Zico's body. She didn't know why she felt dizzy and perceiving it, and what surprised her was that Amelia didn't perceive anything.

The smell was really familiar and her head hurt whenever she tried to remember where she smelt it from. She decided to wait till whenever she sees her dad, she wasn't stupid to tell anyone else about it, not even Amelia. She patted herself for doing a good job not showing any reaction when Beta Zico was around her.
