"Tristan Ford!" Cynthia Shannon felt a mixture of anger and embarrassment, and she thumped her own chest.
Little did she know that Tristan would grab her hand tightly. "Cynthia, I truly love you."
Faced with this sudden confession, Cynthia was at a loss for words. She uncomfortably withdrew her hand, straightening her not-so-messy hair.
But the man was relentless. He reached out his arm and pulled her into his embrace.
He buried his face in the crook of her neck, took a deep breath, and his thin lips lightly touched her ear as he spoke slowly, "I know my love for you has surprised you, but I am also the one who was frightened. I thought I wouldn't love you like this, but that's how I felt yesterday as well."
Cynthia stood frozen in place; her widened eyes filled with unconcealed astonishment.
