Wes's POV
I'm so glad that that just happened. No matter how much I didn't want to get hurt again. I also knew that I would've let Aurora back in if she wanted to.
Two years later and she still has a pretty strong grip on me, and also for Thomas, her being in his life will create some kind of balance for me. Then, I can truly learn about him via her.
But right now, it was just me and him, sitting in his tiny room.
"So. . Thomas. ." I call out as he plays with his trains but he doesn't lookup. "I know you can hear me. ."
"Where's Aurora?" He asks and I sigh.
"She went home."
"When is she coming back?" He pushes and I run my hand in my hair.
"Can you tell me why you're so mad at me?" I ignore his question and he takes a moment.
"You didn't protect me." He says and my face sags.
"Thomas... you know if I was there I would've protected you."
"But you weren't there." He states matter-of-fact, peering up at me.
