Chapter:31 Shopping

Mikhail thought for a while but before he could speak up it was Natalya who started with the shopping list.

"Well, let's see. First of all, we need rifles, good ones, to arm our incoming comrades with. The ones in the armory were in abysmal condition, not to mention a majority of them were older than you are."

Diego spoke up next,

"And SMGs. Boarding a boat with rifles would be a blunder. We need SMGs for this operation not to mention we need to get used to Urban Warfare in this shithole."

Anastasia nodded, taking note of all their demands.

"A couple of Machine Guns, preferably LMGs."

This one was Ming.

"For the PBRs."

Seeing everyone speak up, Amina also joined in on the shopping list,

"We need some sort of long-range rifles for cover fire and sharpshooting, just in case we need them."

Mikhail summed up the list,

"So basically, Assault rifles, SMGs, LMGs, SRs or DMRs...but I was also thinking we could get some of the heavy stuff too..."

He shrugged his shoulders right afterward as if the words he spoke were obvious to him.

"Anti-tank rockets, grenade launchers...the likes. If we ever want to hit that Mari Profondi, we're probably gonna need something with enough firepower to do more than scratch their paint..."

Natalya stopped him short,

"We are boarding the ship, not sinking it. It's got a hundred kilograms of C4 onboard, one stray shot and we would be blown straight to kingdom come."

"Hmm...let me think."

Anastasia thought carefully about all the requests made by them, taking all their requests into account before speaking once more.

"Alright, we should make sure to acquire enough rifles and SMGs to arm your comrades, along with several long-range weapons and a couple of LMGs. I believe these items will be sufficient to meet your equipment needs. Additionally, for heavier situations, it may be wise to obtain a few RPG-7s, in case of emergency."

Now that everyone had spoken, Anastasia was about to wrap it up but Amina was quick to ask a question that was on her mind.

"How much money do we have to spend for all of this?"

She thought for a minute, remembering the price of all those weapons in the system store,

'Hmm, there is no need for sidearms so I can scratch off the P226 from the list. Then there are the SMGs, the store had P90s. So about... 20 should do the trick. Of course, along with the ammunition, the cost would hike up to twenty grand for the guns and four grand for the ammo.'

She took another drag from the cigarette,

'As for rifles, there were AK74s. So fifty pieces for five hundred bucks a piece so a total of twenty-five grand. As for the Ammo, we already have enough.'

Leaning back into the chair, she continued with her calculation.

'A couple of SAWs, four would do, So another fourteen grands. Ammo would be six grand for the forty boxes of 100 round, 5.56×45 mm NATO.'

The price was hiking higher and higher.

'SRs... PSG1s. About six pieces for thirty-nine grand. And ammo? About forty boxes. Another six grands.'

She sighed loudly causing the rest of them to look at her strangely,

"All that would cost roughly around two hundred to two fifty grand."

Of course, she told them twice the price. No one would sell them that many weapons at anything less than that.

"If that's so then we better stop buying cigarettes and booze for a while."

Diego chuckled as he spoke up, taking another drag from his cigarette and letting out the thin stream of smoke from the tip of his cigarette, while the others didn't say anything and just silently agreed...except for Amina.

Amina rolled her eyes, shaking her head with a small menacing smirk.

"Weapons are something you should arrange, don't you think so, boss?"

"Hmmm, yeah I guess so."

Anastasia simply shrugged her shoulders as she spoke up, still silently thinking about all these weapons the others were suggesting.

"Still though, seems like a waste of money. You can kill a person with a spoon if you try hard enough, so what's the point in buying all those high-powered weaponry?"

Anastasia's tone was sarcastic, but she was not at all sincere with her question... she could easily recognize the value of good weapons in the hands of skilled soldiers.

"Because good weapons kill people faster. No use in just killing a few people when you can kill a hundred, and maybe even do it quietly if you use something like sniper rifles or suppressed SMGs."

Amina's smirk had now turned into a full-on sadistic smile at the thought of this, and she laughed out loud for a split second before regaining her composure.

"So yeah, they are a waste of cash if all you want to do is kill one or two guys. But for a small army? No, we need 'em."

Anastasia waved her hand dismissively,

"Yeah, yeah. I will get the weapons before your comrades reach Roanapur."

"Alright then. That's your job, so get to it. We'll wait patiently here."

Natalya's tone was slightly playful, while Diego was grinning and nodding at Anastasia in agreement with her words as if he also wanted someone else to do the dirty work for him.

"Also, don't forget my cigarettes...and yes, I'll be taking that expensive whiskey from your shelf after the mission's over, boss."

Amina's tone was slightly sarcastic as she spoke these words, with a smirk on her face as if she meant exactly what she just said.

"Alright, alright, I'll pick up the weapons and make sure my whiskey is not touched or moved from its spot."

Anastasia replied with a slightly disapproving tone as if she had actually planned on finishing the whiskey herself. After a few moments had passed, she spoke up again.

"So, what's on the agenda today?"

She asked, more to herself rather than the rest of them, and they, noticing her tone, went off their separate ways. Diego dragged Ming with him to see the boats, Mikhail went downstairs, probably to see his damned cartoon and Amina went off to explore the city. All of them left for their destination, all except Natalya who laid down on the sofa for a nap. She was, after all, the one responsible for Anastasia's safety.

Once alone, she turned her attention to the system interface.

CONFIRM

[YES] [NO]

She heaved an even longer sigh before looking over at Natalya to see if she was peeking or not but all she saw was the blonde snoring on the sofa.

Anastasia let out a small chuckle, relieved that Natalya was deeply engrossed in her nap. With a wry smile, she confirmed the purchase with a simple tap on the YES option. The system's transaction was completed, and the weapons were now marked for delivery.

As the confirmation message disappeared, Anastasia leaned back in her chair, contemplating the significant expenditure. The funds allocated for this shopping spree were substantial, but the weaponry acquired would undoubtedly play a crucial role in the upcoming operation.

Suddenly, the telephone sitting on her table rang. She picked it up and received the confirmation message from the bank before putting it back down. The system screen started to show a loading circle spinning endlessly, ten minutes passed and as soon as the payment was confirmed, Anastasia heard a knock on one of the doors,

"Anastasia? Anastasia! Listen, it's important!"

It was Amina and her voice was slightly distressed, which was not good at all.

As soon as she barged in and saw Anastasia, she started talking, not waiting for her boss to catch up with the urgency of her tone.

"There's trouble at the wharf. Someone just dropped off two shipping containers saying that you ordered them."

Anastasia looked up, stunned,

"What?"
