CHAPTER ONE PROLOGUE
little jenny looked out the window of the car, wondering in confusion why in the world she was going home very early from school today. she had tried to to ask the driver who was sent to pick her up but her nanny who came with him gave him a sign that obviously meant that he should not disclose any information to her.
"This is weird". she thought to herself. Strange things had been happening since she and her parents had left the United States. She was actually born there and stayed there till she was six, before her parents moved again to Canada. They stayed in Canada for almost two years. Then, all of a sudden, Daddy came home and announced that they had to move as soon as possible. something was definitely wrong. But she couldn't figure it out. Poor Jennifer had to leave all her friends behind to come and settle in lagos,Nigeria.
"we're home". Nanny said in a sing-song voice as she got down and brought jenny down from the car. Jenny looked around her. This place looked nowhere like home.
"where are we?". she inquired but got no answer.
The figure before them was an old mini duplex with rain faded painting, purple rows of hibiscus covering the corners and concrete flooring. It was a sharp contrast to her own home. Jennifer was compelled to ask again.
"where is this place nanny?" She asked, almost in tears.
This time, they couldn't ignore her questioning looks again, they had to tell the truth here and now. At least, it might make things better for them.
The driver nanny an assuring look as she looked down at the poor girl pitifully and answered.
"Honey, this is your new home".
Jenny just stood there dumbfounded. After a while, she asked.
"what of mommy and daddy, where are they?"
"Daddy and mommy travelled, they will soon come back and get you. but for now, you have to stay with us. Don't worry, you are safe here."
Nanny replied empathetically.
"are you sure?" jenny asked.
"Yes, of course. Now let's go in". Nanny smiled and ushered her into the house.
Jenny smiled amd followed her but deep down, still wondered where the hell daddy and mommy was.
