Prologue

The sound of the rain can be heard loudly. But it didn't even make her move from her place. Everybody left her alone. The rain poured heavily as if it wanted to drown her. In her 18 years of living that's the first time, she experienced such loss.

She stands there, in front of her parent's burial. Looking emptily at the name on the burial. Her parents, and her unborn brother, they're all gone. She's all alone now. Just how will she live her life?

Their family butler stands beside her with an umbrella. Covering the young miss from the rain that began to pour heavier. He can only feel poor for the lady. She didn't even speak a word after hearing the news about her parent's death.

"Young Miss we should leave for now. " The butler asks her carefully. Trying to not hurt her feelings if she is going to stay longer. Slowly, she turned around and walk forward. The butler can only follow her steps.

Inside the living room of the Hazard Mansion, she sits obediently on the sofa. In front of her are all the maids and the butler of the family. She put a bunch of white envelopes on the table. The butler and the maids all look sad.

They know the meaning of the white envelope. They are all going to be stopped from working and that was their last wage from the lady. Beatrice give a sign to the butler and he do as he was asked.

"Thank you for all these years. Now it's time to let all of you go. " They all left without saying anything, understanding the lady's choice.

After all the maids left. She sits quietly at her place, and the butler who is the last to leave approaches her with a gloomy face. Not because of losing his job, but for leaving her alone.

"Young miss, are you sure you don't want anyone to be here?" Hearing that, she finally look at him. With a light smile on her face, she nodded.

"I'll be living with my aunt. Take care of yourself and find a new job soon. I'm sorry for making you quit like this." The girl said in a sad voice.

"There's no need to be sorry miss. Well then, I'll be going now. Take good care of yourself, young miss." He bow to her for the last time and left with a hard heart. But life must go on.

She looks at the ceiling with a chandelier. Everything in this house seems to be cold. It's so quiet and gloomy. A footstep can be hard coming into the house. The sound of it can be heard clearly in that big empty house.

"So you've made up your mind?" Her only aunt, Roselle entered the living room. Beatrice seems to be calm. The look in her eyes is also empty. Although she has the right to make an offence, she is just too tired to fight her.

"It will only need your signature and everything is done. " Roselle put a piece of paper on the table and give a pen to her. Although she is her younger brother's daughter, she has never been on good terms with her.

"If I put my signature here, then you will leave me alone right," Beatrice ask just to confirm again. Roselle sits on the sofa in front of her.

"Just like what we agreed on before." With a cold expression, she looks at Beatrice confidently. It's a great thing that the only girl left now is already considered an adult. So there's no need for her to wait for another year to get the wealth her brother left. Plus, with her niece not wanting anything to do with the family anymore, everything is done easily.

"And please, cut down my name in the family register. I'll be using my mother's surname." After all, that's how she lives for almost 16 years. Only after she turns 17 that her father's family approve of her mother in the family.

"I'll send someone to do that right away. So just sign the contract at this moment. I got no time to waste anymore. " Urging her before she changes her mind, that's all she wants.

With a heavy heart, she holds the pen and signed it quietly. She wants nothing of the wealth her father left for her. As soon as she signed the contract, Roselle take it and leave just like that.

Now she has nothing to do with the family anymore. Starting from that day, she will be living as an ordinary girl. There will be no Beatrice Zhang anymore, only Beatrice Wu.

That way, she can live in peace.
