Chapter 02 My Life

Life has been really rough on me, I mean coming from an abusive home, my parents are now divorced, I have an elder brother, Leon who cut all ties with Mom and I, he left with Dad and I hear he's gone to rehab now.

I'm only 19, but Life has given me it's rough side, I'm a student of Bradford high school, it's really not been easy having to work and school simultaneously, I got this company job because school's on Vacation and it pays really well, when school resumes, I'll have to fall back to an easy going job.

My mom supports anyways, she works as a cleaner for one wealthy family, The Edwards; But even with that we still need support.

I have a group of friends, Stacey, Alicia and Emerald; we're not so on the same level but they love me and I do to. I'm a little bit off their kind of lifestyle but I can manage.

Mom doubts the longetivty of our friendship, she claims I came from a different world from theirs but I always tell her that I can cope.

Speaking of the girls, I remembered i missed a group call from them.

I had my eyes on the art work by the road side while my hand searched for my phone, I looked at the paintings with admiration every day I go to work, I really love art and music, good music.

I looked at my time, I had just a few minutes before getting to my work place, from my house to my place of work is an hour drive.

I quicky put a call through to the girls as I'll no longer have access to my phone once I'm on duty.

After a few seconds, they picked the call almost at the same time.

"Hi girls!" I said smiling.

"hey..." Alicia cutting our greeting short

" So babes there's this really nice Cinema that just opened I was there on Sunday evening with my family, the interior is crazy, exterior??..oh my gosh!

I'd really like for us to hang out there and then do a sleep over later at my place..

what'd you say?"

"whooh!!!" I let out a heavy sigh

"yes..., yes, it's okay," I heard Stacey and Emerald say in excitement.

"what day and time are we talking about here please?, you know I work on weekdays...."

"oh! Ann.." Alicia was about to complain for the umpteenth time how my job doesn't allow me harness the goodness of my teenage age.

"work this,work that, the latest movie 'Divine Evil' will be up on Friday, please we can't miss, get a sick leave or something from your boss please" Alicia said

"Well, I hear you Alicia, I'll get back to you on that, I just arrived at work, we'll talk when I'm back, be good Y'all"

" yeah, Be good too Ann" they echoed.

I hung up immediately, I checked for the time on my phone, 9:54am; I paid the cab driver and hurried into my work place.
