The Misunderstanding

After almost an hour, the cupcakes are done baking.

Jiang Nian smells the cupcake and smiles. "Your cooking skills are still this good. Where did you learn it?" she asks him and grabs a cupcake to eat.

Jiang Nian asked him this before but he never answer her.

Liang You Jin looks at her and sat down next to her on the sofa. "Learned this from a friend."

Jiang Nian stops but chews the cupcake in her mouth. She nods and continues eating. "You're not going to eat?"

Jiang Nian knows that Liang You Jin doesn't like sweet things, but she asks anyway.

"It's all for you." Liang You Jin said and knows this girl is waiting for this word.

Jiang Nian finished eating her second cupcake and drinks the water Liang You Jin pours for her.

"Liang You Jin." She calls him.

"What is it?" He asks her.

"Did something happen?" she asks him and looks up at him.

Liang You Jin looks at the T.v. "What do you mean?"

"There's something off about you. You never had this long break before. Did something happen?" she carefully asks him.

There's a long pause. Jiang Nian didn't say anything else and just looks at him.

"Lu Fei sacrificed."

Jiang Nian didn't expect it'll be this news. She watches him and as she's about to comfort him, he spoke up instead.

"Lu Fei is one of my comarade in arms. If he didn't take that bullet for me, then he wouldn't have died. He just got married and told me that his wife is pregnant. But now he can't see his unborn kid because of me."

Jiang Nian sits there and listens to him talk. She felt pain strike her heart.

Jiang Nian takes his hand and he looks at her.

"I don't think Lu Fei will want you to be like this. Lu Fei is a solider and he knows what he's doing. Don't blame yourself for what happened." Jiang Nian doesn't really know how to comfort people and in the next second, she felt a pull.

Liang You Jin pulls her into his arm.

"Jiang Nian. Just let me stay here for a moment." Liang You Jin hugs her and the room fell into silence.

Jiang Nian didn't move and hugs him back. She comforts him by patting his back.

The door opens and Liang Chen Yu came back from work. As he puts the keys on the tray, his eyes can't believe what he just saw.

Jiang Nian heard the door and looks up.

"Brother Chen Yu?"

Liang Chen Yu quickly grabs back his keys and opens the door.

"You guys continue. I just remembered I have something to do." Before Jiang Nian could explain, Liang Chen Yu walks out of the house.

Jiang Nian slightly pushes Liang You Jin and gives him a stare.

"You have to go explain this!" she said to him.

Liang You Jin looks at her and lays back on the couch. "I won't go explain. If you want to explain, then you go."

Jiang Nian tightens her fist while giving him a long stare. "Liang You Jin!" She angrily said it and walks out of the house with Tang Yuan.

In less than five minutes, Liang Chen Yu came back after receiving a message from his brother.

"That fast?" He asks Liang You Jin.

"It's not what you think." Liang You Jin didn't look up and just stares at the cupcakes that Jiang Nian left behind.

"What happened?" Liang Chen Yu asks and walks up to his brother.

"I lost one of my comrades on the last mission."

Liang Chen Yu knows that his brother doesn't like to express his feelings, but it doesn't mean that he doesn't have feelings. He just likes to keep things to himself.

Liang Chen Yu gives him a pat on the shoulder.

"So, before Nian Nian was here comfort you?"

Liang You Jin shakes his head and smiles. "It's the opposite." He didn't say anymore and stood up.

"Where are you going?" He asks Liang You Jin.

Liang You Jin picks up the box of leftover cupcakes.

"Bringing this to her."

Jiang Nian came back home and lay on her bed with Tang Yuan.

"Nian Nian, You Jin is looking for you," her mom came in and told her.

For some reason, Jiang Nian felt the anger inside of her again. "Go tell him that I'm sleeping!"

Heng Xiu doesn't know what's going on with her daughter and You Jin, but she went back downstairs to tell him.

"You Jin, she fell asleep already. Why don't you call her later?"

Liang You Jin smiles and gives the container of cupcakes to Heng Xiu. "It's okay. This is the cupcake that she left behind."

Heng Xiu looks at the cupcake and watches him go back to his house.

"There must be something going on!" Heng Xiu said to herself and then takes out her phone to call Shu Jin.
