Ice-Cream

Liang You Jin gives her a glance and side smirks. "Are you sure?" He asks her.

"Why not? You're the one that asked me what I want to eat." She said crossing her arms on her chest.

Liang You Jin waves his right hand on her face. Jiang Nian then realized that he was injured. She smooths her hair and awkwardly said, "Want to come over and eat then? I kinda don't want to eat outside."

"Sure!"

He drives back home and walks out of the parking lot. Jiang Nian's house is just a few houses away and it doesn't take long for them to walk over.

Jiang Nian's parents are sitting in the living room watching T.V. and when they heard the door open, they saw their daughter walking in with Liang You Jin from behind.

"Mom, dad I'm back." Jiang Nian said and takes off her shoes. She then finds pair of slippers for Liang You Jin.

"You Jin, you came?" Heng Xiu asks and walks up to them.

Jiang Qiao Shuo looks at his wife and daughter then at Liang You Jin.

"You Jin picked me up from work, so I invited him over to eat dinner." Jiang Nian explains.

Heng Xiu nodded and then noticed his hand wound. "You Jin, what happened?" she asks.

"Oh, it's nothing. It's some small wound." He said faintly with a smile.

"Go have a seat. I'll cook something for you guys to eat." Heng Xiu said and walks to the kitchen.

Jiang Nian went to wash her hands in the bathroom and Liang You Jin followed her.

"What are you doing here?" she asks him.

"Washing my hand." He said.

Jiang Nian gives him a stare with disbelief.

"Fine. It's just that your dad is giving me those weird stares." Liang You Jin said and gives a peak where Jiang Qiao Shuo is sitting.

"You're the captain of your team. I only hear people saying your cold, but never knew you would be scared of my dad." Jiang Nian said with a laugh.

Liang You Jin glares at her. "Who said I'm scared. I came to wash my hand too."

"Whatever you say, but remember don't wet your right hand." Jiang Nian reminded him and then walks out.

"Nian Nian," Jiang Qiao Shuo calls her over.

Jiang Nian walks over to Jiang Qiao Shuo and sat down. "What's up?" she asked her dad.

Jiang Qiao Shuo looks in the direction where Liang You Jin is and then looks back at his daughter?

"Together?" he asks her.

Jiang Nian looks at her dad, "Dad, what are you thinking? Of course not." Tang Yuan jumps onto Jiang Nian's lap and lays there.

Jiang Qiao Shuo found out that Jiang Nian confessed to Liang You Jin before. Jiang Nian didn't tell anyone in the family, but he heard her talking to Zhang Xin about it. And he knows that Liang You Jin rejected her.

"Nian Nian, the food is ready!" Her mom called from the kitchen.

"I'm gonna go eat, dad." Without giving a chance for Jiang Qiao Shuo to say anything, Jiang Nian walks to the kitchen and Tang Yuan follows her from behind.

Liang You Jin sits across from her at the table and he takes the bowl of noodles from Heng Xiu.

"Thank You," he said to her.

Heng Xiu smiles, "You guys must be hungry. If it's not enough, there's still more." Heng Xiu said with a smile.

Liang You Jin nods with a smile.

Jiang Nian didn't wait and started to eat. This whole day she only ate an egg in the morning, and her lunch she didn't even start to eat yet.

"Eat slowly," Liang You Jin said to her and gives her a tissue.

She takes the tissue from him and slows down her pace.

Tang Yuan sits there looking at her and then at Liang You Jin.

Jiang Nian noticed him looking and then went to the kitchen and get his food. Usually, Tang Yuan waits for her to come home and eat, but if she's on call that day then her mom will give him food.

Jiang Nian place his bowl in front of him and he started to eat.

Both of them finished their bowls of noodles at the same time since they were so hungry.

"Want dessert?" Jiang Nian asks him.

Liang You Jin looks at her with a smile. "You're the one that wants to eat right?"

Jiang Nian gives him a face. "There's ice cream in the freezer, but we can't let them know."

"Jiang Nian, it's too late to eat ice cream now." Liang You Jin said.

Jiang Nian gives him a flat mouth. "Just this once. I haven't had it for so long. Please?" She looks at him with pleading eyes.

Liang You Jin looks over and saw her parents sitting there watching T.V.

"Just this once." He said and right after he said it, Jiang Nian walks into the kitchen and grabs it.

It's a small ice-cream sandwich, so Liang You Jin didn't say anything after all.

Jiang Nian sits there eating happily and Liang You Jin helps her block the sight of her parents.

"How does it feel to help me sneak behind my parents' back?" She said looking at him with a sneaky face. She knows that Liang You Jin wouldn't do these things. She would usually ask Liang Chen Yu to do it.

He shrugs. "It doesn't feel that bad."

Jiang Nian gives a glance. She thought he would hate it and then she planned to do this more often.

"You sure you don't want? It's pretty good." She said holding it out to him.

Liang You Jin looks at her and then at the ice cream. In the next second, he takes her hand that's holding the ice cream and took a bite.

"It's not bad," he said with a smile and wipes his mouth with his hand.

Jiang Nian looks at him angrily. "I didn't mean to eat mine! I was gonna get you one if you wanted it." She said in a low but angry tone.

Liang You Jin gives her a smirk and then said, "your mom is coming this way."

She then quickly stuffed the last bite of the ice cream in her mouth and acted as nothing had happened.

"Finished eating?" she asked.

Both of them nods and she took the bowls in the kitchen.

"You can go home now," Jiang Nian said to him but didn't lookup. She's still angry that he ate her ice cream.

"Still mad?" he asked her.

"Do I look happy to you?" she asks him and then went upstairs with Tang Yuan.

Jiang Qiao Shuo watches his daughter go up and then looks at Liang You Jin.

He noticed Jiang Qiao Shuo walking up to him and he stood there straight.

"Xiao Jin, how's everything?"

*When someone is older, the word "xiao" means small. They use that word to refer to someone younger than them, more of a younger generation. They would add "xiao" to their name.*

"This week is less busy after training is done."

Jiang Qiao Shuo nods and then looks at him. But more like examing him.

Heng Xiu walks out of the kitchen and saw her husband looking at You Jin. She quickly walks up to them and breaks the awkwardness.

"You Jin, thank you for driving our daughter home."

Liang You Jin turns to her, "It's no problem. I happened to be there, so I just waited for her."

"I'll get going now." He said.

Heng Xiu nods and walks him out the door. After seeing him leave, she turns and looks at her husband.

Jiang Qiao Shuo loves his wife and daughter a lot. He barely makes them angry, but when one of them is angry or sad, he gets scared.

"Why are you looking at You Jin like that?" she asks him in a firm voice. Heng Xiu knows that her husband has some opinions about him.

"It's nothing. I was just seeing if he's a good man." He quickly said and holds his wife's hand.

Heng Xiu looks at him. "Really?"

While Jiang Qiao Shuo and Heng Xiu are talking downstairs, Jiang Nian lays on her bed with Tang Yuan.

Her face reddens as she thought about what happened before.
