Chinese New Year

Today's Chinese New Year, and every family is prepping for the holiday.

Every child that came back home for the holiday is helping out except Jiang Nian. Jiang Nian sleeps on her bed as downstairs people are chattering. Jiang Nian hasn't been sleeping for two days already. She's an ER Doctor and has been On-Call for 48 hours.

The doorbell rings and Jiang Nian's mother went to open the door.

"Lao Liang, Happy New Year!" she greets and welcomes them in.

*Lao Liang- Lao is a short term when old friends greet each other and Liang is someone's last name.*

"Where's Shu Jin?" Jiang Nian's mother, Heng Xiu asks.

Jiang Qiao Shuo came back with two teacups and place them in front of them and sat back down next to his wife.

"Yesterday You Jin just came back from his military training. And his mom is trying to wake him up." Liang Jun Ran explains.

Speaking of sleeping, their daughter is still sleeping upstairs.

"Chen Yu, how have you been?" Heng Xiu asks.

Liang Chen Yu is Liang's oldest son. He's the COO of Liang's Group and working with his father.

Just as they were talking, the doorbell rings again.

This time Shu Jin and Liang You Jin are standing there.

"Heng Xiu, Happy New Year!!" Shu Jin hugs her best friend and then gives a hug to Jiang Qiao Shuo also.

"Happy New Year, Jiang Ah Yi and Jiang Shu." Liang You Jin said and gives them the fruit that his mom told him to give.

*Ah Yi means aunt. Shu means uncle.*

As they were all chattering, Liang You Jin looks around and didn't notice Jiang Nian anywhere.

"Where's Jiang Nian?" he asks out of the blue.

"Oh right. I haven't seen Nian Nian. She didn't get a day off?" Shu Jin asks Heng Xiu.

Shu Jin is also a doctor. She works in the same hospital as Jiang Nian. Shu Jin is the chief physician for the Department of Neurology.

Heng Xiu looks at the clock on the wall and saw that it's 2 pm already. "She's been on call for 48 hours and so she's still sleeping. I'll go wake her up."

Hearing that Jiang Nian is still sleeping, Liang You Jin smirks.

Liang You Jin has been in training for a week and when he thought he can rest for the whole day, his mom woke him up. Of course, he's gonna take this chance for Jiang Nian to wake up also.

"Nian Nian," Heng Xiu knocks on the door slightly.

No one responds back and Heng Xiu opens the door. Inside, papers and books are everywhere. Clean and dirty clothes are mixed up together.

Jiang Nian has her cover over her head when she hears her mother's voice.

"Mom, just let me sleep. I'm so tired," she said to her mom whining.

But Heng Xiu didn't let her. She opens the curtains and pulls her cover.

"Your Shu Jin Ah Yi and the boys are downstairs waiting for you." Heng Xiu couldn't help, but go to the pile of clothes and pick out the best for her to wear.

"Hurry and change." She puts the clothes on her bed and walks downstairs.

Jiang Nian got out of bed and wore the clothes that Heng Xiu picked out for her. Jiang Nian cut her hair two weeks ago, so now her hair is only by her shoulder. She didn't bother to tie it up and just brushed it out.

Jiang Nian walks downstairs and saw them all sitting in the living room talking.

Liang You Nian noticed her and couldn't help but smirk.

Shu Jin noticed her and called her. "Nian Nian, come over here."

Jiang Nian smiles and greets them.

As they were talking, Jiang Nian felt someone watching her. She looks up and her eyes met Liang You Nian.

Jiang Nian shifts her eyes away and looks at Liang Chen Yu.

"Brother Chen Yu, you have your car keys with you right?" she asks him.

Chen Yu nods. "Why? You need to go somewhere?"

Jiang Nian nods. "Can I borrow your car for twenty-minute?" she asks him and puts her hand out in front of him. She always does that when she needs something.

Liang Chen Yu takes out his car key and puts it in her hand. "Here you go."

Jiang Nian smiles and got up.

"Where are you going?" Liang You Jin asks.

Jiang Nian slightly smiled at him and then said, "it's none of your business." She turns away and walks out the door.
