"I'm sorry," said Jade.
"What?"
"I wasn't apologizing yet when we broke up. So now, I'm going to say that. I'm sorry. For everything. We both know that I'm the one who made a mistake," Jade explained.
Max's body felt a tingle at the request of his ex-girlfriend who he still loved. Her voice seemed to melt him. Even though she was guilty, when he heard how beautiful her voice was, it was as if her guilt was covered up.
"And I'm not meeting your family yet to apologize. Yet, I'm too shy."
"You don't need to meet them if you're not ready. That's okay. I'll tell them myself."
"But you want us to be friends, right? But if you need some time away from me for a while, that's fine," said Jade.
Max thought about Jade's offer to remain friends. And he still needed time to get away from her. Right now, he just wanted to say this.
"Sure. We're friends. And yeah, I need to keep my distance from you for a while," answered Max.
