Chapter 10 : Shots and Stunned Realizations
Blair’s POV
There is an incessant ringing in my ears. Did that really just happen? Did someone just shoot at us? I realize only a moment after it happened that the hole in the railing is just barely over my right shoulder.
Does that mean that someone was aiming at Raven’s heart?
Everything happens in slow motion for me as I look at the hole and turn back toward Raven, whose eyes are suddenly a dark crimson. I watch as his fangs protrude from his mouth.
As he begins to turn, I glance past Raven’s shoulder, following the line of where the hole is, and see a man standing on the opposite side of the road.
Who is this guy?
What on earth is he doing?
My heart leaps into my throat as I stare at him and he stares right back. With Raven’s body turned ever so slightly, I see the firearm in the man’s hand. It is raised at the both of us once again, and then there is another ear-splitting shot.
At that moment, time speeds up.
