Chapter 12: Every palace has a moat
He hit with a thud, and was surprised to find it hadn't injured him the slightest. He stood next to Pat, who seemed unaware of what was silently watching them in an alcove just five feet above. Sol said nothing, knowing that the creature might attack if it realized its cover was blown. Shortly, it was joined by several others, the last seemingly the most potent.
"Did you just jump Sol? Ugh. Here goes," Felicity said, taking her turn.
One by one they all made their way down, with Peppi going last. Sol had sensed something inside of her building the more nervous she got. She had never done well in haunted houses, and she usually started screaming at some point if she went in one. This was a hundred times worse, but he suspected she had been as distracted by their new powers as he had been.
