Chapter 106: Eat Meat!

Old Xu was very surprised, thinking to himself, "What's going on, do we have visitors at home?"

With this thought in mind, he hurriedly led Xu Xin through the courtyard and into the house.

"Dad, are you at home?" Old Xu shouted loudly.

As soon as they entered, the rich aroma of braised pork hit them full in the face, and soon after, Old Xu and Xu Xin heard the sound of chopping vegetables, chop after chop.

This sound was very familiar, one they hadn't heard in a long time.

Xu Xin's grandfather had just celebrated his eighty-ninth birthday a few days earlier, and for the birthday, the three of them just had a duck neck each, topping it off with some bought snacks from the village as their celebration.

This was clearly the sound of Xu Xin's grandfather chopping vegetables, slow and weighty.

"Dad? What's going on?" Old Xu entered the kitchen and saw his father busy at the stove, truly puzzled.

"You're back?" The old man seemed full of vim and vigor.
