Day 18-23 Make some money traps

.

That Late Morning-

.

An Youya was at the breakfast table sitting silently. She had no idea what to say when she got back home. A set of papers in her hand containing d.n.a result that she had run when the chance arose. Everything was concrete that this was Chen Fan.

Genetically anyway.

Fang Qiong, Zhong Yaoyao, Xu Rongfei, and Biao had just left. Biao was driving them each home. Chang Wen however lingered in the bed. She tossed and turn all night and just now was falling asleep. Both from excitement and from the moment shared with Rexford.

"Sister Youya, are you feeling better?" Ranran called out to her carefully.

"Oh yes, just.. thinking."

"What is there to think about." Ji Xingyu asked from the fridge. He closed it keeping a bottle of water in his hand. "I know a little about your situation but what I have heard suggests you should learn to live for yourself more."

"It is not that easy."

"Sure it is." The teen dropped in a chair sipping his water a bit. "Your family abandoned you completely and your parents are dead because of it. Not only were you raised by the Chen family, but call them mother and father. If what Rexford said about your absentee family members now wanting to use you for their own aims, whether now or in the future, a smart person would distance themself altogether from them. You can exile yourself and cut ties on your own. Learn to use your brain and looks in your favor instead of being passive."

"I can't just leave this be!" An Youya shouted. Embarrassed that she may have disturbed others she piped down. "I can not just change my name and start over. I am not Chen Fan. I could not.."

"Whatever you end up doing, don't regret it." Ji Xingyu stood up but gave his final piece before leaving. "Once given the chance to change your fate but doing nothing to stop it, the ultimate person to blame is yourself for the results that occur. And what I know from Rexford, he will not help when that time comes."

"You are wrong.. he will do something." Ranran provided a little hope to the other women. But deep in her heart, she knew this not to be true.

Over the next few days, a lot unfolded.

Rexford went to school finishing off a few tests that needed to be done. Acing each of them with ease caused the school to slow the process of letting him test out early. He was good for the school average when County testing comes around.

Chang Wen had caused quite a stir with her changed attitude. Even more so when the students saw she was no longer fawning over Si Yingxia. It changed over

"So what are we doing today?" Chang Wen asked beaming. She had a few things to do school-wise but nothing to major.

"Hmm, nothing important really. Just training and checking over business overall." Rexford answered. He checked his phone over a little then made a note on his calendar. Nothing to important coming up. Not until he had money really to spend. "No reason you shouldn't enjoy your school experience."

"OK." Chang Wen said a little disappointed. "Just next time you go somewhere important, I wanna come with." She was eager to prove herself it seemed.

"Totally let her go!" Yang Chao said quickly. He was a bit exhausted from the last few days' events. Right now he just wanted to have a little bit of a normal life. "Ji Xingyu, what do you think about basketball practice today?"

"I actually want to give it up entirely, but I did enjoy it." Ji Xingyu said in worry. "I still plan on going to college for my parents' sake, so it will look good on my transcripts. Plus I get to show off a little."

Despite their advancements in cultivation and the life experiences they faced recently, they were still teenagers and the comfort of what they knew had its appeal still.

Which was not a problem currently.

"Well, do that while I take care of other matters." Rexford put away his phone and moved to the door. "Just do not neglect what is needed. Life should be enjoyed after all. I will call if something crazy happens."

On his way home, Rexford thought over a few of his previous activities to relax and think. Sculpting was one of them along with photography. The problem with the latter was that he still didn't receive his camera equipment.

Something about the ship it was coming on running late.

Sini Dova taking care of the interviews easily. The other serving women helping with the task easily. Rexford took note they all increased in strength noticeably. It was an odd matter this time how they grew.

.

That Evening-

.

Rexford was currently in the backyard training. None of the others were around. Each going about their lives as it should be. Feeling the generated qi in the area had reached a good level, he started to cultivate the finishing touches of a technique to use.

"Congeal!" He commanded to the loose qi in the area. Adding in his own, the Aspects of Gravity, Space, and Violence formed. With a fourth appearing but hollow in a way. It was that of Fear. "Shape!"

*Woom!* The qi warped the items into that of spears. Simple in nature made of pure qi with waves emitting off the tip.

*Brrppp!* The first spear caused everything in its immediate vicinity to unbind with the natural gravitational force around it. Rocks shot off into the air with leaves going up and down.

*Voom!* The second spear caused the few rocks and leaves that went toward it to disappear into the void. No sight where they went really.

*Fwip!* The third spear emitted a sound like that of a fist striking in the air. A red hue surrounding the entirety of it. An even pulse that was completed out of sync.

The fourth dissipated along with Rexford taking a knee. The immediate contact to the ground caused a small sense of relief to pass through his body. The heavy taxation lessening by the second.

Heading up to the villa, Rexford stopped looking at his guest at the door. As well as Chang Wen who looked as happy as a kid on Christmas.

"Mr.Mingyun, I hope you don't mind but I took the liberty of having this young lady bring me to your home." Mr.Lin bowed, like a typical butler. His voice containing a lot of respect in it. Way more than before.

"It's about business, I am sure you would be pleased." Chang Wen bounced on her feet happily. By the looks of it, when she went home from practice, she did not even get the chance to change. "I did good right?"

"You did great." Rexford shook his head while smiling.

"Well, this should be interesting stuff." Rexford was not that excited about the visit really. He was more interested in taking a nap. But Chang Wen looked so excited that he didn't want to just say no. 'A few days early than when the 3rd master of the Wei Family meets with a group of people involving this item. So maybe he has more stuff than normal.'

.

Later on-

.

The 3rd Master of the Wei family had a weird mustache but was overall a fairly attractive middle-aged man. Not a single bit of him was that of a martial artist. He typically ran Fangsheng International and oversaw a lot of Foreign Trade.

Definitely worth someone doing business with early on.

"Wei Changfeng, a pleasure to meet you." Rexford said. He pulled out a stone statue he sculpted as a gift. It looked humanoid but had no real defining features. "A small treasure that needs you to only drop your blood on it."

"Oh!" Wei Changfeng exclaimed excitedly. He was a magic treasure nut. Coupled with Rexford's greeting, and what was told to him by Lin, his niece, and the other youngsters, his impression was only rising. "Just a little of my blood?"

Rexford gave a nod.

The 3rd master of the Wei's did just that. He bit his finger dropping it onto the statue.

*Shine!* The stone statue left a radiant glow as the arrays inscribed on it activated. A lot of experimentation went into mixing this up with the knowledge and Rexford's own ideas.

"It is changing!" Wei Changfeng shouted in glee. The stone statue took on a likeness of him. Down to his clothing and the pointy mustache he has. "Remarkable!"

"Umm Rexford, what does the statue do?"

"It allows one to know if he is in danger for one. Two it increases his vitality since stone only weathers down with the most extreme of elements. As well as time of course." Rexford had his arms folded in front as he thought over all the various ways the statue worked. "If he starts to train to be an Internal Master, this will make his body a little stronger than normal. At a very fast level to."

"What!?" Wei Changfeng grabbed the statue as if it was a priceless artifact. If his father knew of this he would have a stroke and try to get the businessman to train like a lunatic. "Let's keep that to ourselves!"

"Only people know of it are those in this room." Rexford looked to Chang Wen who couldn't help but look at the statue closely. He could tell she wanted one for herself. "Unfortunately another of its kind can not be made. One per element really."

"Then how does another one get made?" Old Lin asked.

"The current one has to be destroyed. As well as the one bounded to it." Rexford wouldn't tell them he could separate with the use of the Black Qi. That would be stupid. "You can toss it in a vault somewhere for safety. But just remember your bones are stronger now."

Wanting to test it, Wei Changfeng moved to a wall and punched it. He shouted in pain while gripping his hand tightly. Jumping around like an injured child.

Before he could complain, the expression of old Lin made him look at the wall. A fist-size hole was now in the wall. Wei Changfeng was no martial artist. He was barely in shape for that matter.

"Amazing..." Mumbling a little, the pain in his hand was forgotten. His bones were stronger, that did not mean his nerve endings had changed.

"Brother Rexford, please sit!" Wei Changfeng said happily. Old Lin brought out the artifact he wanted to show. Low and behold it was the same one Chen Fan would have come across in the future when meeting the middle-aged man. "What do you think?"

"It is nice. Used a few more times in its current condition." Rexford placed his hand over the box then poured some qi into it. From his hands, the palms cut open dropping blood on top. "Let's see if can be fixed or change for long-term use!"

Under the guidance of his qi and blood, the entire setup of the Plate of Eight slowly unraveled to him. Each inner working and the arrays laid out inside help understand it as time passed.

"Hmm?" Chang Wen stared at it closely while he worked. Her eyes lighting up in a clear glow. She was understanding how it worked without learning it. Her link with Rexford allowed her to pick some of the info easily. Coupled with the fact she was already intelligent, the process went even faster for her. 'I think.. I can make one of these myself!'

It didn't take long for things to settle down.

"How would you like to weed out a few people that would try to take advantage of you?" Rexford's smile was evil as he spoke. Chang Wen shivered more in excitement than fear. "Help weed out a few people that will cause trouble down the way for both of our businesses."

"What do you have in mind?" Wei Changfeng was intrested.
