Declared dead

January 28, 2019.

The bastard has the fucking GUTS to send his goons after me!

Hope he finds their broken bodies soon enough.

Now that I think about it, I regret not taking their eyes out and hooking them onto forks as starters.

I'll do that with him I guess.

I will kill him.

Victor blinked.

His expression didn't startle Haven who had already expected all the worst-case scenarios possible before stepping into her previous boss's office. Stifling her laugh, however, was harder than expected.

"I think I might've heard you wrong. Could you be so kind as to repeat?" he asked, a small smile on his face though his eyes betrayed the troubled emotion he was currently feeling.

"I would like to lead Ezekiel Wei's case from now on. I am aware that somebody else is presently leading it but I need them to back off of it."

Victor's brow twitched. This was a dream, wasn't it?

"And why do you suddenly want to take over this case?" he questioned, his tone serious, realizing this wasn't a joke being played on him. The girl didn't look like she was going to stick her tongue out any time soon.

People usually ran the instant they heard Ezekiel Wei's name. That guy wasn't the Devil, he had outed him too. No matter what he did, the police didn't dare say a word about whatever he did, his victims refused to file a case against him and even the Top Agents of the agency didn't bother trying to gain fame trying to fight him.

Fame was useless when you weren't alive to reap its benefits.

The only person until now who had stood up against him was Agent Chen, who surprisingly, hadn't come in today. Today was the day she was supposed to take a step forward by destroying one of the main headquarters of the gang. It would've been historical and her being late for such an important event was highly unusual and worrying.

"He has taken something from me which cannot be returned. So in return, I need to snatch something of his." His life, she smiled internally.

Victor leaned back in his chair, continuing to stare at her small, pure face which didn't seem to match the cruelty and utter hatred flashing in her eyes.

'Another case of revenge then I guess.'

"I understand your predicament but it's quite impossible to include you in our department since Agent Chen would never hand the case over or accept a partner. She's a loner and doesn't let anyone else interfere in a case that's personal to her." explained the Head, fishing out a cigarette pack from his side pocket and lighting it up with the help of his silver lighter.

Soon, the scent of tobacco and smoke engulfed the room but Haven wasn't affected. She'd never smoked herself but had been around many people who liked to be addicted to a small thing such as a cigarette stick. Just as much as she hated being dependent on people, she despised being addicted to meaningless things.

"What if I end up persuading her somehow?" Unnecessary since I'm already dead.

'Also why hasn't anybody realized I'm dead yet? I remember having a tracker on me before I was rudely kidnapped out of nowhere.'

Victor took a long whiff and then sighed. "Well if you think you can do it, then be my guest. If she agrees, I have no problem welcoming you into your new department."

She would have to hop out of the IT division but that wouldn't be too much of a big deal. Her new skills would still be coming in handy during the mission.

"Thank you for your time. I'll take my leave then—"

The door burst open, no exaggeration, literally exploded forth as a man came running in, panting heavily and in a wretched condition.

Recognition seeped into her dark orbs as she looked over her previous partner who looked like he was going to faint anytime soon.

"H-Haven..." Gavin's words came out choked as he struggled to maintain his emotions and Haven couldn't help but feel pity for his state.

She would have to reveal her secret to him sooner or later but she hadn't expected him to be so devastated when he learned of her death.

"What happened?" Victor spoke, both of them completely oblivious to her presence in the room.

"She's d-dead." he finally spoke out and a sob seemed to have gotten stuck in his throat as his Adam's apple bobbed up and down.

Gavin had a speaking problem since birth, a fact he had hidden from everybody apart from Haven. He had worked day and night to overcome this flaw which he had named it. No matter how many times she had told him that he could speak normally around her, he still always looked ashamed of himself when he stammered.

Right now, he didn't even seem to have noticed that he had ended up stuttering twice. The only disappointment on his face was due to realization.

Realizing that he had failed the sole friend of his life.

She had never seen Victor speechless. But this news seemed to have blocked his senses and lead them to a complete dead end. It was expected since he had lost one of his Top agents who was handling one of the most important cases everybody else was too scared of handling.

She slowly backed off, internally planning to come back tomorrow after the news had spread everywhere and Haven Chen was officially declared a dead nobody.

There would be no official funeral held since her body would be too hard to dig out unless Gavin tried to do it himself by hiring some people. He probably checked her tracker this morning which she was smart enough to grab when she was being chloroformed. And either way, CIA didn't hold long, respectable funerals of its agents anyways.

Secrets agents like her risked their life secretly and were buried secretly too. Only the people she had wanted to tell or people who wanted to take over the case were told that she was handling the case and risking her life by choice.

Stepping out of the building, she sighed after realizing that it was finally dusk.

Time for burglary.
