Sports Festival. (Part 5)

{POV Ryuu.}

As we were getting closer to the tunnel to go and have our lunch I saw somebody who was waiting for someone. And as we got closer I noticed that it was Shoto as he called out to me asking if we could talk.

Mei just smiled as she quickly grabbed Tsuyu's hand and started to drag her to the food court. While Fumikage and Mezo nodded their heads and headed down the tunnel.

I even noticed Bakugou and Eijiro stop for a moment before I nodded my head as they responded in kind.

"You do realize you're eating into my lunch so this better be worth my time." I said with a slight amount of irritation.

"You blindsided me, so much so that I broke my own pledge." Shoto spoke as if I broke something sacred and treasured.

"Blindsided you? Are you serious? That and I made you break a pledge, that's it!" I spoke with confusion and anger.

"What are you five, grow up Shoto. You have an amazing ability. One that honestly shouldn't exist since you are literally fire and ice!"

Shoto seemed angry when I made light of his worry and pledge as he frowned and looked at me with a little amount of killing intent that made me smirk.

"You must know about my father Endeavor, right?" Shoto asked as his killing intent seemed to increase.

"Yes, why does that even matter. You his kid or something, so fucking what." I was getting frustrated with the conversation as it was becoming pointless to me.

But I saw the look in Shoto's eye's as one side burned with fire as the other was cold as hell.

"You know about quirk marriages right?" Shoto asked with venom in his voice as I nodded my head.

"Well he devised a plan choosing a mate to enhance his own, all so he could rise above All Might and finally beat him. He was easily able to integrate himself to my mothers family and took possession of her quirk."

I could hear the hate, rage, and wrath in Shoto's voice as he described how his father continued to use and abuse his mother for his father's own purpose. Saying that he'll never become his fathers tool, how his mother was always crying, and even dumped boiling water on his face.

He even went so far saying that he'll become the number one hero without the use of his fathers ability.

I'll admit it's a horrible childhood, it's a broken family, and just not a happy place. It reminded me of my old plane as many grew up just like he did, but decided to make better of their circumstances and better themselves.

But as I heard Shoto describe how he wasn't going to use his father's ability for such a piss poor reason I started to laugh with anger in my voice.

"...ahaha, you're pathetic, Shoto. A damn coward." I said with mockery and disdain in my voice as Shoto looked shocked.

"What? You thought I would feel sorry for you? Again, grow up, the world isn't a nice place and some of us are dealt a bad hand. You should have used your old man and increased your ability to it's limit instead of sulking and whining like a child."

Shoto seemed to be stunned as it seemed that wasn't the response he expected.

I know longer cared as I started to shake my head and headed into the tunnel to get something to eat. But as I took a couple steps I sighed before I stopped and spoke out loud.

"You have an ability that is beyond powerful, Shoto. And you decided to cripple yourself because you were trying to prove to your old man that you don't need his ability. You already failed the moment you decided to use half of your potential. And you only have to look at today to realize where it got you."

I didn't wait for a response as I headed further into the tunnel, only to see Mei waiting for me with a smile on her face.

"Before we get started with the final event. There's good news everyone!" Present Mic announced as the crowd responded.

"For those who dropped out of the preliminaries, and since this is still a sports festival we got some recreational events in store…!"

Present Mic continued to explain and go over some of the events that the others would be able to participate in as the remaining students entered the stadium. Then saying after those events are over that the final event would officially start.

"From the four teams, sixteen individuals made it through! Making the final event a tournament! We're pitting all of you against each other in one-on-one combat!!"

I heard the crowd roar with anticipation as I started to smile. I even heard Eijiro mention standing on the same stage that he saw every year. While others talked about how the system changes a bit but normally ends up being a one-on-one battle.

"All right, now I'll determine who fights whom through this lottery." Midnight said as before she brought out a box.

"Once the matchups are decided we'll do a bit of fun then we'll start the battles." Midnight winked when she finished as I noticed her glance toward the cheerleaders before she announced drawing the lots.

I was about to go up and start before I noticed Mashiro raise his hand and announce that he no longer wanted to participate with a look of disappointment and frustration on his face saying something about that damn kids quirk.

Then I noticed that one of the students from class 1-B raised his hand doing the same saying that he didn't feel like he deserved the right to participate.

I was a little surprised but at the same time was disappointed with the decision they made. I noticed Midnight started to have an angry look on her face before it immediately changed before saying that greenhorns get all her love. Before announcing that two others would be replacing them in the tournament.

We quickly drew lots and when I saw the matchups I felt like either fate or Ancients old ass was messing with me as I somehow drew fucking Aoyama.

But when I saw the rest of the matchups I was a little more intrigued. Especially when I noticed Deku going up against the kid from the general education department.

[First Round.]

Deku vs. Shinsou.

Shoto vs. Tsuyu.

Shiozaki vs. Denki.

Ida vs. Mei.

Ryuu vs. Aoyama.

Fumikage vs. Momo.

Tetsutetsu vs. Eijiro.

Uraraka vs. Bakugou.

Right after the matchups were put up on the monitor, Present Mic started to announce the beginning of the recreational events for the sports festival. I even saw Mei with a shameless smile on her face as she started to walk towards Ida.

I just started to laugh as I knew exactly what she was planning on doing, but my interest started to draw more towards the fight between Deku and Shinsou. Especially when I heard Mashirao briefly explain what Shinsous ability might be.

The recreational events didn't take all that long before the final event started. They even gave us all a decent spot to watch the matches in the stands. I even noticed Mei and Tsuyu talking with each other trying to come up with a strategy to beat Shoto.

"Just be careful and be on the lookout with him, Tsuyu." I said in a concerned and firm tone as both Mei and Tsuyu turned to listen.

"He's on edge, that or he is not in the right mindset. If anything, just be careful with his ice and give him hell Tsuyu."

Mei started to laugh as she smiled while I saw Tsuyu start to blush a little as she smiled and put her finger on her lips.

"Hey guys are you ready!? We've got a bunch in store for you, it's here you will brawl and the only person you can rely on is yourself!" Present Mic spoke with passion in his voice as the arena just finished being complete before announcing the first match of the tournament.

"Match one!!! Midoriya Izuku!! Versus, Shinsou Hitoshi…!!"

Present Mic started to announce the rules of the tournament right after announcing the beginning match, but I hardly paid attention as it seemed as if the fight was already starting in the arena as Shinsou started talking to Deku.

I noticed that Deku was getting agitated as Shinsou continued to talk, but the moment Present Mic said start Deku couldn't hold back anymore as he blurted out something before stopping entirely.

I was immediately curious as to what Shinsous ability was as I saw Deku turn around and start to walk out of the arena.

It must be related to mind control or something similar. Ancient, that's an amazing ability. Who the hell decided he wasn't fit for being a hero!? Damn hero society and their damn rules.

But as I continued to watch Deku get closer to the edge of the arena, I saw his hand start to glow before an explosion of power erupted, breaking him from Shinsou's control, surprising everyone. Especially Shinsou as he immediately started to try and get Deku under his control again.

Deku just continued to ignore him before trying to shove or push Shinsou off of the arena only to have a right cross strike his cheek. Then I saw Deku easily grab Shinsou's arm as he threw him over his shoulder slamming Shinsou on the ground and barely out of the arena for an out of bounds victory.

I was impressed with the whole fight, but not with Deku as it seemed like an asspull or luck. But I was really impressed with Shinsou as he was a diamond hidden in the filth of hero society.

Present Mic quickly announced the winner of the first fight as both Deku and Shinsou congratulated one another. But my focus was more on Tsuyu and Shoto's match as I never saw Shoto in the stands.

"Tsuyu, be careful with your fight against Shoto. The moment you feel something is off, protect yourself." I said with concern in my voice which made Tsuyu blush slightly as she was about to say something before Mei started to giggle.

"She'll be fine Ryuu. Tsuyu is strong, she'll wipe the floor with that icy-hot bastard." Mei said with a smile as she started to drag Tsuyu so she could start her fight.

I smiled when Mei spoke up, but I couldn't help but feel that something was really off about Shoto today. Sure I egged him on earlier but he seemed to be pushed more to the edge as the day continued.

"Sorry to keep you waiting folks!! Next up are these two. Tsuyu Asui versus Todoroki Shouto!!"
