DAVE VS JAKE

The next day...

"Winner of the 2nd quarterfinal match goes to Louis, you can now leave the platform while the students for the last quarterfinal match should come to the platform"

After hearing the announcement from the referee, the audience started to cheer as the students previously on the platform left.

'It seems I have recovered seventy percent of my power. Although I am now confident in facing other students, am not too sure about Jake'

Currently, Dave is seen sitting in a meditative state as he was observing the energy core that is mostly filled with a mixture of black and white liquid.

'Although my mental power is already at its peak thanks to the sleep I had earlier, it won't do much to my battle prowess if my energy is sufficient enough

After reaching that point, he suddenly sighed as he continued to talk in his mind.

'I shouldn't have used that spell against Viona, but well the deed has already been done so just have to live with it

When he finally reached this point in his mind, he slowly relaxed from the meditative state he was in and opened his eyes to see who Is presently on the platform.

But after opening his eyes, he suddenly saw a pair of dark red eyes fixing Their gaze on his face.

'Fuck!, who is this?!' thought Dave with a surprised expression as he quickly pushed his chair back a little to see who it was.

After finding out who the dark red eyes belong to, he sighed as he said in his mind.

'She is back again'

"Are you done meditating?" asked Viona with a radiant smile.

"Yeah, I am. Could please sit down? I would to see who is fighting right now"

"I will only if you answer truthfully to the question am about to ask you"

After massaging his temples for a few moments, he helplessly replied.

"Ok I will answer your question"

Suddenly, Viona's expression became solemn as she asked her question which made Dave panic.

"Do you have the dark–"

But before she could finish asking her question, Dave swiftly closed her mouth with his left hand. That sudden action almost made Viona scream but later calmed down after hearing what Dave whispered in her ear.

"Yes I am, don't even think about spreading this discovery about me to others or you will face my wrath"

After whispering to Viona's ear, he suddenly exuded an extremely cold aura that made her tremble. When he finally saw Viona's terrified expression, he promptly released her with an expressionless face.

After being released by Dave, Viona slowly lowered her head and walked to her seat to sit down.

"Winner of the 3rd matchup goes to Selena, you can leave the platform while the students for the last quarter-final match should come to the platform"

'it's finally time' thought Jake as he jumped up from his seat to get ready for the incoming match.

'I wonder how my Viona is doing?'

After saying that in his mind, he looked toward where Viona was seated with a warm smile. But when he saw her lowering her face, he became confused.

"Why is her face lowered?" muttered Jake as he walked toward the platform. But after some moments, he suddenly had an angry expression as he thought.

'It must be him, he really dares!'

When Jake and his opponent are finally at their opposite side of the platform, the referee announced.

"We will now start the final quarterfinal match of the competition, are both students ready?"

After giving a slight nod in response to the referee, he quickly entered into a battle stance and also brought out his sword. But his opponent stood motionlessly on the platform with his eyes closed.

Later on, while staying silent on the platform and hearing the complaints from the audience, he suddenly spoke.

"I concede defeat"

"Huh?"

While being flabbergasted by what his opponent said, he asked him a simple and short question.

"Why?"

Apparently, who Jake's opponent turned out to be actually the second strongest student in the competition If Dave wasn't included. he had slightly long brown hair that is resting on his shoulder, with dark pupils that were accompanied by a face that was that of a noble.

Although he was also in the initial phase of Rank D, he only had one element which was the earth element. Jake knew he would win since his potential was higher, but he also knew that his opponent wouldn't just give up without a fight.

"Well it's pretty obvious who would win in this fight so what's the need of wasting the energy," said Jake's opponent while stretching his arms.

"But Jonah, this isn't like you," said Jake still with his confused expression.

"You just have to accept the outcome though, am still growing so I don't really know who I am yet" replied Jonah as he uncaringly walked out of the platform.

"Winner of the final quarter-final match goes to Jake Turner. We will now go into the semi-finals" announced the referee as he appeared in the middle of the platform.

'Well, this was unexpected' thought Dave as he walked towards the platform with a helpless smile.

But his expression changed into a confused state as he heard what the referee said next.

"May all the students who qualified for the semi-finals come to the platform"

While having his doubts, he quietly entered the platform and stood beside Jake who was already there but at some distance away. He only glanced at him expressionlessly before ignoring his angry stare all through the time.

When all the students for the semi-final came into the platform and stood coincidentally on each side of the platform, the referee finally spoke which resulted in an uproar among the students that are for the competition and the audience.

"According to the instructions given to me from the capital, the semi-final will be held in a four-way battle to bring out the winner of the competition"
