'Aiden?' I said to myself.

'I'm really not in the mood to talk Aiden.' I sighed staring at the ceiling trying to stop my tears from falling.

'I know, but it would be better to at least have someone with you.' He said softly. There was no sound coming from the door after that. I thought he left until I heard him sigh.

I stood up and opened the door just as he was about to leave. He looked at me surprised I opened the door. I didn't say anything. I left the door opened and went back to lay on my bed staring at the ceiling.

He stayed at the door for a while probably contemplating his next move. Then, he slowly started making his way inside before silently joining me on the bed. 'Want to talk about it?' he said softly.

'Not really.' I answered. 'I understand what you're going through.' He suddenly said, before I could say anything else he continued, 'I was the first one here you know. Everything was so different from how I grew up. I mean one minute I was stressing about how to complete my school project and the next thing you know I'm some kind of chosen one from a different world.' He said the last part with a low chuckle.

'I know how hard it is to adapt', he continued solemnly 'At first no one understands but you know you're trying your best.'

After a few seconds absorbing his words I spoke, 'Does it get easier?' 'Of course', he said turning his head to face me so I did the same staring into his brown eyes as they seemed to turn lighter. 'After a while the place starts to feel natural, like home', he said smiling.

'You're even luckier than me', he said turning his head to face the ceiling once more. I stared at him confused before asking, 'Why's that?' 'You have friends who really care about you.' He simply said.

'Yeah. Such great friends', I said sarcastically remembering the conversation I just had with said friends. 'You'll see what I'm saying eventually and until then you can just talk with your spirit animal.'

I was silent until his words suddenly sank in and I looked at him with confusion and curiosity. He must have realized what he said because his eyes were shut as he dragged hid palm on his face.

'What's a spirit animal?' I asked sitting up. Aiden sat up slowly before saying, 'I have no idea what you're talking about'. I just raised an eyebrow and looked at him with a bored expression.

'I'm really not supposed to say anything yet.' He said sighing. 'Well it's too late for that', I said snorting.

He contemplated for a minute before saying, 'Fine. But only because you looked so cute right now'. I felt a small rush of heat on my cheek as a shyly looked away.

Why does he have to say that? I thought. He just chuckled and stood up.

'Okay. Try to stay calm', he said as he stretched out his hands. 'Why would I -', I started but couldn't say anything else as a gust of wind engulfed Aiden's forearm, disappearing and leaving a huge white eagle in its place.

He used his free hand to pet the eagle while I just stared dumbstruck by what just happened. He turned to look at my expression and ended up laughing.

Only then did I come back to my senses. 'And here I thought having powers was the coolest part of being here', I said standing up to view the eagle more closely.

'Can I pet him?' I asked. He nodded then realization seemed to dawn on him when he asked, 'Wait. Who told you we had powers? You're not supposed to know that for another two and a half weeks.'

'Let's just say I have various sources of information', I said smirking as I continued to pet his eagle. 'Already having allies I see. You're going to be just fine here', he said smiling. 'I hope so'.

'His name is Arthur.' Adrien suddenly said. I looked at him confused but he just nodded his head towards the eagle as it let out a screech.

'He says hi', he said. 'You understand him?' I asked 'Yeah, it's kind of like he's talking in my head though.' He explained.

'When do I get mine? And what animal will it be?' I asked. 'That's for the trainers to answer. As for what animal, that's for your subconscious to decide. Now don't ask me anything else before I say anything else I'm not supposed to', he answered.

I shook my head laughing. 'At this point, what else is there that I don't know?' 'You've got a point there', he mumbled probably thinking I didn't hear him.

'Okay Arthur, I'll see you later', he said as the bird screeched and vanished in a gust of wind as Aiden shook his hand.

It looked so nice to see Arthur, I can't wait to see mine. I pondered on this before Aiden's voice drew me out of my thoughts.

'It's nice to see I managed to make you smile'. I didn't even realize I was smiling until he mentioned it.

That just made my smile widen as I said, 'Thanks for coming to see me Aiden'.

'No problem. Just know if you ever feel down, you now have one more friend in this big castle you can talk to', he said laughing. 'I will', I said.

'I should probably leave you to sleep. After all, tomorrow's another day', he said heading towards the door as I trailed behind him.

'Yup. Another day of more training. Who would want to miss that?' I said sarcasm dripping with every word. He couldn't help but laugh before he said, 'Just think of it like this. Soon you'll be able to see your spirit animal and use your powers.'

'At this point, I think that's one of the things keeping me going', I said jokingly.

'Oh really? I'm sure the food also has a part in it', he said amusement in his eyes. 'True but you're also one of the reasons', I said seriously,' Thanks again for being here Aiden.'

His face softened as he smiled, 'No problem Snowflake', he said opening the door to leave.

'Snowflake?' I asked at the sudden nickname.

'It suits you' he said shrugging before finally leaving the doorframe.

'Goodnight Snowflake', he said as his figure disappeared in the hallways. I shook my head mumbling, 'Goodnight Aiden'.

I was about to close the door when an angry figure came storming in pushing past me.

'What the heck Zayn?'

I think I like the direction this story is going, don't you?

I just hope Zayn isn't too mad about this development.
