The roundhold table was certainly... Nice. What can Jack say, it was old fashioned, and he was from more modern times.
"Mother," a cry came as Jack was tackled to the ground by his five children.
Jack let out a genuine laugh as he gently patted their head, after he took a bath in one of the oceans he was feeling... Cleaner. And more... Relaxed.
For the first time in his life, he wasn't killing... Wasn't hunting... He felt tranquil. However, as he was with his daughters, he couldn't say anything. So he leaned on a chair, and a cold glare came from him as he stared at sir knows a lot.
He was getting a bad feeling, like he's a future problem type of feeling. And his gut had never led him astray.
The place they were in prevented fighting, however, if Jack ever got the chance, he would kill him the moment he stepped foot out of the roundtable hold. Rather be safe than sorry.
"Come one girl, it's time for bed, i know you're sleepy," Jack said as he cleared a room out of the girls.
And thankfully a seal appeared on the door preventing any entry from outsiders, which he thought was neet. This would have been pretty helpful on his ship, considering how people always entered his room without permission.
"So what are these crack runes or whatever it was that you were telling me about," Jack said as he sat down and Melina joined him.
"The great runes" Melina corrected. "Are items of power that will be needed if you are to complete your journey as elden Lord."
"No. I've already said I'll repay you and get you to the tree as repayment for taking my gorls somewhere safe, but I am not becoming a Lord. I'd make a horrible ruler, really" Jack said back.
In the corner of the room sir knows a lot of snorts at the conversation they were having.
Jack hand twitched to his gun ready to just put the bullet in his head, before calming down. He wasn't worth one of his precious bullets.
So Jack did something better. As the conversation continued, he slid an odorless powder next to sir knows a lot.
Ah but I can't really get into what the powder was... But you will know... Eventually.
...
Jack sat there with Melina for what seemed like hours, learning and adapting to the information he was provided with.
Apparently the crack runes as he called it, was a part of something called the elden ring. And the elden ring is needed to become the elden Lord... Or something.
Godrick, Rennalla, radhan, morrgot, mogh, rykard, and melania. Those were the ones currently who held them.
(Free my boy mogh, he ain't done nothing to bad 🙏)
So Jack was going to have to collect them. Whether that be killing them, or having them surrender the runes themselves.
Jack sighed leaning back in his chair as he gazed at the stars above. Just days ago he was traveling, said stars, and now he was stuck without any help.
It could be worse in his opinion, he could have been stranded with nothing. No helmet, no gun or knife either. In his opinion, he was fortunate.
Jack closed his eyes with a smile, life was finally looking up for him.
...
Jack woke up to the sound of giggling and opened his eyes slowly to see his girls next to him.
"Morning. Are you girls hungry?" Jack asked as he sat up.
"Yep" Anna said as she sat at the table.
Jack smiled and patted her head, and he had the girls sit down at the round hold table. A quick three minutes later, Jack returned with 3 birds and used the fireplace to cook the food.
"Is...that really wise?" A nervous voice came from next to the fireplace.
"Mmm, depends. As long as it is not burnt it should be fine. But if it's too raw, it might give them a disease. But yes, when I cook, it should be safe," Jack said as he let the food cook.
Jack looked at the girl and smiled, a kind smile that his enemies never saw.
"I heard rumors that you were planning to challenge godrick?" Roderika asked as she bit her lip.
Jack saw through the facade almost immediately, since he could tell this was a woman suffering from trauma.
"You don't need to worry. I have no intentions of dying anytime soon. I have little ones to care for," Jack told her.
"They are lovely... The children I mean," she said as she placed her hands in her lap.
Jack chuckled as he watched the girls devour his signature fried bird. He watched as Maureen was running around the place excitedly, while Mary tried to get her back under control.
"Yeah... They are..." Jack smiled his last one before standing up.
"I will look after them for you. This place is sacred in the way that no one can harm anyone else while inside the round table,"Roderika said.
"Thank you for truly," Jack said before making sure the girls were fed, and made sure they would be okay.
Now it's time for the grafter.
(Note side story)
"You can't Jack," Melina said.
"I can't do what?" Jack said as he gently patted rodericks head.
"You can't keep adopting every child you see. What's next, are you going to adopt me,"Melina said as she pointed at herself.
Jack suddenly looked up with stars in his eyes "I can?"
"You're not Joel Miller alright?" Melina said with a huff.
"Who's that?" Jack asked, confused.
"Huh... I don't know either." Melina blinked.
"Are you snorting the crack runes again?" Jack sighed.
Melina slapped his arm before pouting.
"How many times must we be over this, there is no such thing as crack runes," she said.
"Sure.... Whatever you say" Jack rolled his eyes.
(The end)
