Waking up, I couldn't help but notice someone laying next to me…
"Damn it Kuroka! Get in your own damn bed, I got two for a reason!" I said with a tick mark as I reserved a room with two beds.
But this seemed to only make Kuroka happy that I succumbed to her teasing, as she let out a large grin and ignored me.
Seeing she wasn't budging out of my bed, I got up myself and went to go to train the Flicker Step Technique.
"I'm going to go train, what are you going to do while I'm gone?" I asked Kuroka curiously.
"I'm going to laze around, it's been so long since the last time I got to relax, Nya." Kuroka said before letting out a yawn and went back to sleep.
'Well, I should have expected that from someone part cat…'
Exiting the hotel room, I went to go buy some clothes.
I could always use SCP-268, but the more you use it, the less noticeable you are with it off, until nobody can even notice you anymore, which seems more like a curse than an ability…
Currently, I had about five-hundred dollars left in yen, since it was around seventy-five dollars per night at the hotel.
And I could always pick pocket more people if needed, clothing was more important as wearing my Chaos Insurgency uniform everywhere isn't very inconspicuous…
~~~
Wandering around, I stopped at the first clothing store I found, it's called Kawaramachi OPA.
It's actually quite a popular place for shopping, it was quite full on the inside with lots of different styles of clothing.
It was actually getting close to winter, the current date was November 7th 2009, the temperature was currently around 51 °F (10.56 °C), so it was probably good to buy some winter clothes.
So I picked out, two hoodies, three long sleeves shirts which were more like sweaters, a winter coat, two pairs of warm sweatpants, some nice comfy socks and underwear, and a winter coat for Kuroka.
In total, it was around 140 dollars, which was a fair price, so I'm down to around $360, I quickly went back to the changing room, changing into some of my new clothes.
After changing, I was currently wearing a dark blue hoodie with a long sleeve shirt under, sweatpants and long socks, with large brown boots that came with the Chaos Insurgency uniform.
I put the rest of the clothes in my inventory, before putting on SCP-268 and exiting the shop, not wanting the awkward scenario if someone questions me about the clothes I just bought…
Better safe than sorry.
Exiting the shop I took SCP-268 off a little further away, and I made my way to the outer edge of the city to practice the Flicker Step Technique, since I didn't want a Demon or Youkai sensing the mana, because that would just be even more annoying.
So once I got far enough away, I started testing out the Flicker Step Technique.
To start the technique, first you lift your foot off the ground and slam it down, and right as you make contact you release the mana channelled in the sole of your foot, and send yourself at an angle slightly above the ground.
The hardest part about this first step is the angle.
The angle has to be perfect, if you're too high off the ground, you can't move your foot down to change directions or stop, and if you're too low, you'll end up using a lot more mana than needed.
And the second part is getting the timing down for the second step.
If someone were to view me using the technique, it would look like I didn't stop moving, but the secret is every time you're about to make contact with the ground, you have a split second to attack.
So as long as I have the timing down, I can out speed most, or all of my enemies, so I made a training plan.
The first part of my training would focus on the angle and mana usage, the main advantage when I fight is being able to tire out an opponent as they won't be able to hit me.
But that's useless if I use all my mana up before then, I'll just be a sitting duck at that point.
So my training method to practice the angle, was to mark a point right in front of a tree.
I would flicker in front of the tree, stopping myself right before I flew in to it, and I would slowly increase the angle to find the perfect range, then I would practice flickering multiple times in a row on different elevations since the angle will change depending on if I'm going up or down hill.
*3 hours later
Currently, I'm taking a break because I'm out of mana, so far I'm still working on the angle, I can tell I'm slowly getting better, but after few hours of training I'm exhausted as it does require lots of leg strength and mana.
I'm hoping to get this technique finished before the first anomaly spawns.
But I should probably go back to Kuroka since I've been gone for about three hours, and she might do something stupid.
Making my way back to the hotel, I actually had more of a chance to look around the City since I wasn't in as much of a rush as last time, and I mentally marked a few places I would like to visit in the future.
Returning to the hotel, I entered my room, and Kuroka shouted at me immediately.
"What took you so long, Nya!"
"Huh, I thought you said you we're going to laze around for the day?" I said confused.
"You didn't leave any money or food, I'm starving, Nya!" Kuroka said with a pout.
'Oops, I forgot about that…'
"So, will you take me out to eat, Nya?" Kuroka asked.
I was about to respond with a yes, but then I realized this was the perfect opportunity to tease her
"I don't know Kuroka, I've only known you for about a day, and you're already asking me on a date?" I said smugly while a large blush appeared on her face.
'Who knew the girl who loved to tease others so much is weak against teasing her self.'
"Your face is looking a little red, are you perhaps sick, Kuroka?" I said with even a more smug look.
I was about to laugh out loud, but I instantly regretted teasing her as she sent a full power punch right at my face, I barely dodge it.
"Are you trying to kill me!?" I said with a panicked expression.
After trying to smash in my face for a bit, she finally calmed down and asked again.
"Are you going to take me out for food or not, Nya!" She said, mad that I was teasing her.
"Fine." I said, agreeing, as I was hungry from all the training I did earlier.
I already spotted a few good-looking restaurants on the walk back to the hotel anyway.
