In the private Hero High School, where young talents of dungeon explorers gather, Makoto Akaya enrolls, believing in his own abilities. However, upon discovering the gap between himself and his classmates, he realizes that he is the biggest failure in the school. Shibahime had grown unusually quiet. Akaya, well-versed in her moods, knew better than to provoke her when she was simmering. Engaging her now would only invite a flurry of sharp words or physical retribution. Instead, he opted for the most strategic course of action: maintaining a safe distance.
"Look," Shibahime finally broke the silence, gesturing ahead. "It says 'Fortune Catfish.'"
Akaya followed her gaze to a peculiar stall with a bold sign proclaiming its odd specialty. "What… what even is this?"
Before he could gather his thoughts, the vendor, a student from the academy judging by his uniform, called out enthusiastically. "Welcome! This is the 'Fortune Catfish Research Club.' Care to try your luck with our fortune catfish?"
Akaya raised an eyebrow. "Fortune catfish? I don't even know where to begin. What's that supposed to be?"
