Chapter 1

For the tenth time today i heard a strange haunting melody. My friends Jason and Brent said they couldn't hear it but they nevertheless followed me out to the blue ridge mountains. We parked near the blue ridge walkway to stretch. I got out of my truck and tightened the laces on my boots and stood up. Jason opened the backdoor behind my seat and stepped out. I handed him his cane as he straightened out his prosthetics. I laughed as he took a cigar pack out of his bag and took out a blunt and lit it before talking.

"Mike you might need to carry me after a minute my legs are fucking with me."

"As long as you pass the blunt ill carry your old butt like a princess."

He laughed and threw a bottle at me as brent came around my truck with mine and his bag while talking

"So we're all set incase we get lost out there following your special music. You sure you didn't hit your head somewhere mike?"

I grabbed my bag and headed for the trail.

"Yes im certain."

I listened to the song. It was a beautiful melody and it gave me the impression the wind sky and trees were singing it themselves as clear as it sounded. It sent a chill down my spine and filled my gut with a warmth that seemed to pull me towards the mountain. Jason handed me the blunt and i took a hit as we walked. I took a couple more hits and passed it to brent. As we reached the suspension bridge jason and brent were moving much slower i was over halfway across as the wind picked up and the melody got louder. As i listened to it i saw brent and jason look at me.

"Yo you been hearing that?"

I nodded but a strong gust of wind shook the bridge and jason lost his balance hanging off the bridge as he held on for dear life brent grabbed him by one arm and i ran over and grabbed his other. When we heard a roar we all froze and stopped pulling none of us saw what happened but we felt the bridge flex and bounce before we all started falling. We were encased in fog and i couldn't see or hear brent or jason. As i turned towards the ground i saw a pulsing glowing tear shining and casting scattered colors. I covered my face with my arms as i fell into the colorful tear the last thing i remember was hearing a loud roar that i couldn't help but think it shook the earth.
