Dragon Devourer System

Note: The main character is male. The novel is written in 3rd person. I never could guess life would be this terrifying. In the past, I was a high-ranked adventurer looking for riches and fame, fulfilling every request of the Adventurer's Guild and gaining a substantial prestige. I still remember the old legends from my hometown, the legends of dragons, absolute beings who even the gods fear. And now, it seems I somehow got reincarnated into a dragon. ------------------------------------------------------------- The artwork does not belong to me and if anyone knows the artists of this work, please let me know and I will credit them. Dragon Devourer System

"You are going to tell me everything you know about that System of yours. Every-thing. From the moment you received it to how it happened, and how you have been using it." Ella, the Empress, inquisitively asked him.

At this moment, the entire world fell apart for Jacob. His face turned white, and he stared with his eyes open wide at the seductive woman, wondering how the Impaler of Gods knew about his System.

He had never told anyone about the System, and to start with, he did not even know much about it himself.

How was he supposed to explain to others everything that had happened and how the System worked? He did not know, and for this reason, he had never told anyone about the existence of the System.

"What is a System? I do not know what you are talking about." The white dragon, which had grown in size, responded to her question. He had no idea what would happen if he told her, but he also knew that lying to her was pointless.

Nonetheless, he wanted to give it a shot. He was certain she would immediately notice the lie, but lying would give him time to consider how to reduce the amount of information he could tell without her noticing.

"Come on, little guy. You cannot deceive me. When someone lies, their emotions taint their aura. When you are skilled enough at magic perception as I am, it is easier to pick up any lie by just sensing your mana. Besides, I can sense the System's magical aura emanating from you."

"I first noticed it when you interfered with our fight. Why did you think I would let you live when you are just another vile dragon? Look, I am not sure how you got a System, but you are going to tell me everything you know about it, and now." The Empress decisively spoke.

Ella despised the dragon's race guts. After all, they sided with the Gods during the Grand War. She was fine with them remaining neutral, but once they joined the Divine Army, her army suffered numerous losses. After this, she made a vow to exterminate all the dragons.

The only exception until now had been the little female dragon who had lived for a short time in her palace. Ella found her golden egg and nurtured it, curious as to what species it belonged to. To her surprise, what emerged from the egg was a baby dragon.

She could not bring herself to kill a newborn after spending so much time nurturing the egg. She had no idea about what her race had done during the Grand War, and Ella quickly decided that she was worth keeping alive.

She was not insane enough to murder a helpless baby who knew nothing, and this was one of the reasons she did not kill the white dragon. The main reason is that he possesses a System.

"I… was born with it." Jacob spoke with a low voice, unsure whether telling her about his System was a good idea. "Sigh… One day, a voice suddenly spoke to me. It was the System. Since then, it has been assigning me tasks to complete. I really do not know anything more about it."

The Empress's gaze was fixed on Jacob, as if she was trying to determine whether he was telling the truth. After a brief moment, her frown relaxed and his narrowed eyes returned to normal. She no longer had an inquisitive expression on her face, replaced by a more delicate one.

"The System you have… I know its origin." Ella nicely spoke, giving the dragon a brief moment to prepare himself. "In the past, I was the Empress who ruled over the Livondia Empire. Since we had a deep hatred toward the Gods, we developed artifacts which enabled us to fight and kill them."

"The process of creating these weapons was a long and difficult one, but in the end, we were able to produce a large number of them. We named those weapons System and gave them to my Moon Squad, which was made up of the Empire's most powerful warriors and mages."

A minute passed since the Empress finished her explanation, and the room was still quiet. Jacob's mind was a jumbled mess from all of his thoughts. He was perplexed as to how an artifact from an ancient Empire had ended up in his possession.

He also needed time to fully understand and consider all the implications of the Empress's words. For example, was he supposed to give his System to her? Or would she murder him because he possessed a relic which belonged to her?

Suddenly, Jacob noticed as the Empress came closer to him, her delicate and pale skin almost touching his pure white scales. "Could I touch you? It would help me ‌figure out which one of our artifacts ended up in your hands." Ella spoke with a slightly seductive tone.

Jacob was not the type to fall easily for beautiful women; in fact, he would fall easily even for women he did not find attractive.

However, he could not help himself but be suspicious of someone who had spent her entire life being dubbed the Impaler of Gods. What if her only motivation for approaching him was to impale him?

However, even if it was not for her attractiveness, he still had to agree. She was far too powerful for him to refuse to comply with any of her requests. Even if she asked politely, who knew what would happen if he refused to be touched?

After some deliberation, Jacob finally agreed, nodding his white dragon's head. Whatever response he gave would result in the same outcome. Therefore, he reasoned that it was better to bet on the woman helping him rather than making her angry and being tortured later.

When the Empress saw the young dragon nodding his head, she placed her delicate hand on one of the dragon's white scales and closed her eyes, as she needed complete concentration. Shortly after, an incredulous tone of voice came from her mouth.

"What? You.. you… how is this possible? The secret artifacts were sealed… How did the Dragon Devourer System end up in your hands?!"
