Unimaginable Pain For Unbelievable Power

Later on, Elder Kai explains the situation to everyone else. As everyone takes in all of the information, Chichi gets upset by all of this.

"You want my son to fight someone called the God of Destruction!?" Chichi yells.

Elder Kai stares Chichi down.

"Yes." Elder Kai coldly says.

While Chichi has to be held back by Krillin, Gohan, and Roshi, Vegeta thinks of a question.

"What are the chances of Goten surviving this process?" Vegeta asks.

Elder Kai thinks for a moment.

"It is increased from Zero because of the power I gave him. But the chances of him not surviving the process is still a very strong possibility." Elder Kai says.

Bulla looks over at Goten with a worried expression on her face as he is focused.

"There has to be another way. Maybe we can use the dragon balls." Krillin says.

"No, that won't work. Remember, Shenron's power is limited." Piccolo says.

As everyone tries to think of a way to stop Beerus without risking Gotens life, Goten smiles and stands up to his feet.

"Guys. It's ok." Goten says.

These simple words somehow reassure everyone, including Bulla and Chichi. He then turns to Supreme Kai with a determined look on his face.

"I'm ready." Goten says.

The Elder Kai nods, secretly worried about his safety. Later, Goten and Elder Kai stands in a cave alone.

"I'm pretty sure I already know the answer to this question, but can you handle this hardship?"

Goten nods, focused on getting through this. She then brings out the God Ki that Beerus gave her. Goten is shaken by this energy.

"This heat... it's so intense." Goten thinks to himself.

"To be brutally honest, you shouldn't be ready for this until another hundred years of training, even with the power I bestowed upon you. All we can do is hope that you can hold this inside your body without it tearing you apart. The agony that it will cause a mortal is beyond words. If your body cannot handle it, you will be eaten away from the inside out and the only thing you will wish for his a quicker death."

Goten smirks.

"Sounds fun." Goten says.

"Goten, are you ready?" Elder Kai asks.

"Yeah!"

Elder Kai then puts the energy inside Gotens body as he braces himself. Goten is then surprised by him not feeling anything.

"That's it, seriously? I thought it would be way worse." Goten says.

At that moment, Gotens body begins to tremble, and his vision blurs. He struggles to catch his breath as sweat drips from his forehead. Gotens body then begins to be covered in wild energy, as he drops to his knees and begins to scream in pure agony. Elder Kai closes her eyes and starts to walk away.

"I hope you can endure it, Goten." She thinks to herself.

Three days pass, and Elder Kai sits infront of the cave. At that moment, Chichi, Gohan, Bulla, and Trunks appear.

"Hello Elder Kai, just thought I bring Goten his favorite food."

Elder Kai stays silent.

"Now, where is my baby boy?" Chichi asks.

At that moment, Gotens screams can be heard from the cave, shocking everyone.

"Was that-" Bulla starts to say.

"Goten... I've never heard him like this."

Tears begin to form in Chichi's eyes as she throws the food on the ground and tries to run into the cave. The Elder Kai quickly steps infront of her, stopping her.

"I can't let you go in there. The atmosphere alone in that cave will kill you."

"Get out of my way! My boy needs me!" Chichi yells.

Bulla then holds Chichi back, holding back tears.

"I know it's hard. But we have to believe that he'll make it through this." Bulla says.

Bulla and Trunks takes the distraught Chichi away from the cave, while Gohan stays there for a moment. He takes off his glasses, crushing them in his hand as he hears his little brothers screams. After a few more moments, Gohan leaves without saying a word. In the cave, Goten punches the ground out of pure agony, coughing up blood, rolling on the ground while clutching his chest.

Nine more days pass and Goten is still screaming, feeling the worst pain in his entire life. At that moment, Vegeta appears next to Elder Kai.

"How is the boy?" Vegeta asks.

Elder Kai sighs.

"Not good. At this rate... it won't be long before the boys body gives out." Elder Kai says.

Vegeta closes his eyes, then looks back at the cave.

"Rise above it, boy. You have it." Vegeta thinks to himself.

Meanwhile in the cave, Goten is covered in his own blood, his entire body screaming in agony. The Saiyan grits his teeth, trying his best to hold in the screams and endure the pain. He falls to his knees again, as the God Ki surges through his body.

"I- I- I won't... GIVE UP!" Goten yells.

An entire week passes and Elder Kai walks into the cave to see Goten gasping for air. She looks at the boy with remorse and guilt, blaming herself for putting him through this. She then kneels down to comfort Goten.

"It'll be alright. This was too much, too soon. Your body cannot take anymore. I'll remove the God Ki from your body before its too late."

Elder Kai then slowly takes the God Ki out of Gotens body, giving him so relief after a week of agony. At that moment, Goten grabs Elder Kai's arm with determination in his eyes.

"H-Hey, Grandma Kai... What do you... think you're... doing?" Goten says, barely being able to speak.

"Goten, don't be an idiot. Making you absorb this energy was a gamble and now you see why. All of this will be for nothing if you're not even alive to fight Beerus. We'll find another way to stop him from destroying the Earth." Elder Kai says.

Goten sits up from the ground.

"No! I I'm... not quiting... GIVE IT BACK!"

Goten grabs the God Ki and puts it back into his body, fighting through the absolute pain his body, standing to his feet but screaming at the top of his lungs. Elder Kai let's out a sigh for the young man, walking out of the cave.

"I made the first mistake by suggesting this too soon. You made the second by not letting me take the energy back... Goten, I'm sorry. There's nothing more I can do." Elder Kai thinks to herself.

At that night, Pan wakes up and looks outside with a worried look on her face.

"Uncle Goten." She says.

Back in the cave, Goten is on the ground barely even conscious. As he tries to get up, a serge of the God Ki pulses through his body, causing him great pain.

"It's... no use... I can't go on... Mom... Bulla... Gohan... Pan... Dad... I'm sorry everyone... I couldn't do it." Goten says.

At that moment, Goten feels a hand on his back. Goten slightly opens his eyes to see Pan beside him

"Pan? Is that... you?"

Pan can barely catch her breath, being overwhelmed by the atmosphere created by the God Ki.

"Uncle Goten! You gotta get up, your energy is dropping too low."

Pan then notices that Gotens entire body is on fire.

"Hold on, I'll get you some water."

As Pan tries to walk out of the cave, she soon falls to the ground due to the atmosphere. Goten sees this and is shocked.

"Pan..." Goten says.

Goten tries to get up but can't find the strength to make it to his feet.

"She can't handle being around this kind of energy... all because I couldn't hold my weight... I have to get her out of here." Goten thinks.

At that moment, a giant rock from the cave ceiling begins to give way, about to fall on the passed out Pan. Goten eyes widen as he gets to his feet, but immediately feels great pain. Goten grits through the pain and runs towards Pan. Goten then starts to trip as the giant rock begins to fall towards Pan. Goten then plants his feet and powers up the God Ki in his body, channeling it fully.

"I'M GETTING US BOTH OUT OF HERE!"

In a blink of an eye, Goten jumps into air, destroying the rock with a kick, causing a loud explosion. Moments later, as Elder Kai is sitting under a tree, she hears footsteps coming towards her. She looks over and sees an exhausted Goten holding Pan in his arms.

"Hey, Grandma Kai. You mind taking care of Pan for me?" Goten asks.

Elder Kai smiles.

"Of course Goten, anything you want." She says, taking her from his arms.

Goten smiles.

"Thanks."

The Saiyan then falls to the ground, unconscious as Elder Kai continues to smile at him.

"You really did Surprise me, Goten. I was certain my eagerness had killed my favorite dimwit. One things for sure, that bastard Beerus has one hell of a fight on his hands." Elder Kai says.
