"I don't paint dreams or nightmares, I paint reality."
Iris's POV
"I know what will make you feel better." He smirked.
"What?" I asked as my eyebrows were knitted together.
"Let's go shoot at some bird or something." He wiggled his eyebrows weirdly giving me a knowingly look.
"Wow! you really do get me." I smiled and placed my hands, dramatically on my chest.
I know you might be wondering... Shooting at birds?
Chris's dad is a soldier, a high-ranked general. So now and then he trains Chris and me on how to fight, use guns, and other weapons, which I really consider as fun.
Yes, I am weird.
"So how's preparation for your scholarship exams?" Chris asked wiping the corners of his mouth with some napkins.
"Well, everything is going as I planned, so I am going to be writing the exams next week."
"I trust you, Bibbs, you are going to ace it." He flashed me a heartwarming smile.
"Yeah, I know. Okay, let's start shooting." I announced, excitedly, as we both headed to the field.

I was so exhausted from everything that happened today.
Today seems longer than usual, I was so glad it was finally coming to an end.
I freshen up and put on my night wears. I recorded all that happened today into my digital diary, which was on my phone.
Yes, you heard that right. I don't trust papers anymore and I can't risk someone reading my dairy, most especially Devon.
I stared at my Galaxy themed ceiling, until I fell asleep.
"Iris...Iris!" I heard someone calling my name sweetly. Her voice was so soft yet so oddly familiar. I couldn't see the person's face, everywhere was so dark, but I could feel the person. It felt like I have seen or been with the person before.
"Who is there? Show yourself!" I ordered timidly.
"Iris... Iris, it is me." I turned to where the voice was coming from. Suddenly she came out, but I could only make out little features of her face.
"Who are you?" I got no response, I was a little bit frightened now. She came closer to me, and now I could see her face clearly.
"What's going on?" I was already panicking because the person standing right in front of me looked exactly like me, but with little physical difference.
"Iris!!!" I heard another voice in the room, calling my name and weeping, it was my mom.
The moment she tries to reach out to me, the girl who looked exactly like me began screaming my name and she faded little by little.
She kept calling my name as she faded away, I was feeling so much pain that I couldn't explain. Suddenly, she disappeared.
And I woke up...
I was drenched with sweat from head to toe, screaming and panting as tears clouded my vision
"Shh! Daddy is here, sweetie." He hugged me so tight, I could feel he was panting too, probably because he ran all the way from his room to my room. I guess I was too loud this time.
"Dad, I had the same dream again, but this time I saw her face, she looks exactly like me, an-and I saw mom," I whispered, as I panted heavily.
Dad tensed a little and he was suddenly lost in thought.
"Don't worry sweetie, it will be alright, Okay?" He kissed me on my forehead and laid beside me.
I nodded and slept beside him.
Okay, don't think I am pathetic or something, but I occasionally have this same dream, but this time I saw the person. Strange right?
A week later...
It was finally time for my scholarship examination. I literally spent a month studying for this examination and I can't afford to just blow it off. This will help my family and myself of course.
As the time of the examination approached threateningly like a comet about to hit the earth, I became nervous with every passing minute.
"I am a little bit nervous," I said smiling nervously and chewing my fingers nails, while holding onto my pendant.
What! I chew a lot when I am nervous, okay.
"Don't worry bibbs, you will do just fine, besides you are a freaking nerd." Chris beamed at me, nudging my shoulders with his, lightly.
"Thanks, a lot, I think you should get going now." I was still chewing my fingernails.
"Okay, I know you're nervous, but your fingers look like a mess right now, so relax girl, Just call me when you are done."
"Okay then." I hugged him before he left.
It took us approximately two and a half hours to finish the examination. I was so exhausted and in pain, probably because my butt hurts from sitting for so long.
I was so happy that the examination was finally over, the only thing left to think of was the results.
A few days later...
"Aaaaaaaah! I did it. Oh my gosh, I did it." I was screaming on the phone while performing a weird dance.
"I have fragile ears you know, What did you do exactly." Chris winced from the other of the phone.
"Well, I got the scholarship, Aaaaaaaah!"
"Congrats Bibbs, so finally we are going to the same school, I am so proud of you."
"Yes I am so happy, I have got to go tell dad and Devon." I hung up the phone before he could say anything. I hopped happily to the living room, where both my Dad and Devon were watching a soccer match.
"Guess what?" I yelled and they both jumped.
"Jesus Christ!"
"What!" They said simultaneously.
"I got in. I won the scholarship." I squealed, with joy rioting from my eyes.
"Omg! my sister is so awesome, I am so happy for you," Devon said looking down on me and smiling, after hearing the news.
Yes, I am short, but not that short though... Just 5'5.
"We are all proud of you sweetie, and I am very sure your mom will be more proud." Dad beamed wrapping his arms around my neck. I frowned when he mentioned her name.
"Dad, not again. She's gone and gone for good, let's just celebrate this special moment together, okay?" He nodded mutely, and faked a smile.
