MILITARY RANKS

"Wake up sleepyheads, it's a brand new day" A burly man shouted as he stood at ease at the beginning of a long hall.

Immediately after that announcement was made, almost all the new recruits rushed out their rooms and stood in front of their doors. Only Pearce hasn't come out of his room.

'Didn't he hear me?' The burly man thought as he intends to repeat the announcement he made earlier. But before he could speak again, Pearces' room door slowly opened.

'What!!, He isn't dead?' Powell thought as a gloomy expression appeared on his face. When Caroline saw the expression on Powell's face, she eased up as she thought while looking at Pearce in awe.

'It seems what he said was the truth'

'It seems Rogers will be handling us today' Pearce thought as he sneakily stared at the burly man at the end of the hall.

'Huh? Why is Pearce giving off a vibe more profound than when he just got into the regiment? It hasn't even been upto a week' Rogers thought with a surprised expression on his face. But he quickly came back to his senses as he began to speak.

"As you may well know, today you all will be allowed to pick your first offensive spell in the Military Combat Pavilion. But before we begin our journey towards the Pavilion, I will tell you guys how the monster slaying regiment ranks their soldiers here"

'Finally!, I get to know how the military ranks work' Pearce thought in an anticipated mood. When Pearce was still in the Military Children Encampment Centre, he has heard of the Military ranks from the teachers who trained him and he classmates but didn't get to know what it is. But now, he finally gets to know what it means in the Monster Slaying Regiment.

"In the Monster Slaying Regiment, not do we rank our soldiers, but even the monster we fight against to know how we will approach them" Rogers spoke as he gazed at the new recruits in from of him.

"In the Military ranks, we have the novice rank, soldier rank, lieutenant rank, commander rank, king, emperor rank, and divine rank as the novice is the lowest while the divine is the highest" Rogers said as he still kept his gaze on the new recruits.

'So that means we the new recruits are in the novice rank' Pearce thought as his gaze flickered a little.

"As for the Monster ranks, we a have the wild rank, fierce rank, beast rank, monster king rank, demon rank and finally the devil rank as the wild is the lowest while the devil is the highest" Rogers said as he eyes flickered a little.

'i don't care what rank they are in, they will all die' Pearce as his eyes radiant a faint killing intent as he thought of how his family was slaughtered by monsters.

"Now that you guys know the ranks work in the Monster Slaying Regiment, girls be on my left while the boys be on my right and begin our march towards the Military Combat Pavilion" Rogers spoke as he quickly turned and began to jog down the stairs. But luckily, the new recruits quickly arranged themselves and catch up with Rogers before he left the new recruits dormitory.

"Lieutenant Rogers Sir!, Permission to speak?" Alex suddenly asked while the ran through a dense forest.

"Speak" Rogers calmly answered.

"How can we advance through the ranks sir?" Alex hurriedly but calmly asked as the continued their march.

'i knew I forgot something' Rogers thought as an awkward smile appeared on his face.

'It seems he also forgot to tell us something important' Pearce thought as an amused expression came on his face while staring at Rogers back.

"If you want to advance through the Military ranks, their is only one way for you to do that. And is to defeat a single monster that ranks higher than you or defeat 100 monsters in the same rank as you" Rogers said after calming down.

"What of Monsters that rank lower than you" Hutton suddenly asked with glittering eyes.

"That is not applicable. We don't train soldiers that only fights monsters that ranks lower than them" Roger answered in a disdainful tone.

"Ok sir!!" Hutton hurriedly said as cold sweat began to appear on his face.

'Coward' Raynold thought as contempt appeared on his face while looking at Hutton.

After a few more minutes of marching through the dense forest, they finally arrived at the entrance of the Military Combat Pavilion. The Military Combat Pavilion building looks like a mini dome as strange dark patters were seen all over the white covered dome.

When Rogers and the new recruits arrived at the Military Combat Pavilion entrance, they saw two people standing at the entrance.

'Menacing Demon' Pearce thought with a surprised expression on his face while staring at the hunched back man standing at the entrance.

Besides Menacing Demon was a woman with an refined and a breathtaking appearance. She has silky long brown hair which she tied all back to make a bun, she has dark brown eyes which totally compliments her breathtaking appearance. She wore a white robe which dark colored linen were written on it to make a dragons head.

"Greetings Venerable Demon Sir, Venerable Phoebe Ma'am" Rogers said as he saluted along with the new recruits.

"Be at ease Rogers, I and Phoebe will be taking over from here" Menacing Demon said in a bland tone as he stared at Rogers with slight angers in his eyes.

'Am free!!' Rogers thought as he hurriedly said while saluting to the two people in front of him.

"Ok sir!!"

And so, Rogers turned and ran out of that area with cold sweat rolling down his foreheads.

"Can't you be more lenient to your son in law?" Phoebe sighed with a tired expression on her face.

"Never!!, He stole my daughter away from me" Menacing Demon snappily replied with a gloomy expression on his face. This just shows he will never let go of Rogers no matter how many years will go by.

But Phoebe quickly casted Menacing Demon problems away as she faced the new recruits while saying.

"Welcome new recruits to the Military Combat Pavilion. This is where you will not only get your first offensive spell, but you all will be given permission to spar among yourselfs".
